This has gone completely insane. Did anyone here see this coming?
Not exactly this scenario, but it was inevitable that the anti side would go to such extreme methods to harm someone who publicly opposes them. But don't forget, guys, #GG is totally all about harassment, they're the bad guys, right?

I want to see serious ramifications for the people that did this.

It's great how it's the opposition that keeps screaming about harassment when they are the harassers themselves. Jesus.

Dammit Jon....

He might just be sick of the harassment. Hasn't he been getting constant shit from day one?
He's been microtargeted by the so-called SJW hate brigade since he made a joke about something being retarded and then making the guy who claimed to be VERY HIGHLY OFFENDED by it look like an idiot. Jon's not going to tone down the attacks on him all that much from this stance, but it will stop some doxxing attempts.

Bear in mind, this same thing has been the lot of pretty much everyone pro-GG who's high profile and a number of neutrals - see also Boogie and the like. The anti side has already shown a willingness to SWAT people and dox them. Can we really blame anyone who relies on their continued online presence for going neutral or quiet, this in mind? We have the likes of TB, who won't be silenced, and many, many others who won't be bullied or bought. Take solace in that.

We're going to be losing people as we go. They're going to try to break us by going for any apparent leadership. Just like we're targetting Gawker's advertisers and hanging their every mis-step around their throat, the Anti-GGers will do anything they can and then some to stop us, and that means they're trying to go for anyone who could be a rallying point. The biggest advantage Gamergate has in being essentially leaderless is that this tactic won't amount to much in the long run.

Make no mistake, though: The Anti-GGers view this as war. They were willing to have a man fired. They were willing to have another incarcerated. Expect all of this and worse as we move forward. At this point, we should expect no less.

According to what I've gathered so far? This.

An associate of Zoe Quinn, essentially doxxed and tried to SWAT Cernovich in a storm of complete lunacy, citing that he had "Victimized her enough." He/she eventually, apparently, was successful. Cernovich was arrested and is currently in police custody.

This has gone completely insane. Did anyone here see this coming?

Yes. Surprised s/he wasn't lurking nearby to shout "GUN" when the police opened his door. Good news is, though, with the evidence floating around online the feds are going to be paying this person a visit soon.

It wouldn't surprise me if they started committing murder in order to silence us.

I actually expect them to start burning gamestops and other stores that sell games down to the ground first, or at least start protesting in front of them and actively prevent people from getting inside because IF SOMEONE'S GOING IN THERE THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY A CISHET SHITLORD THAT EATS WOMEN!

Well, if they SWAT people and the police ends up killing someone...
True but that's an "us vs. them" mentality that defines the opponent through their extreme which is oversimplification of a more complex issue. Happens all the time in politics when you can find someone of said belief that does something shitty to invalidate the greater position. Stick to the core of your argument as to why they're wrong as opposed to associating crazies with them; they can always distance themselves from the clearly insane and make you look like the unreasonable one.

I don't blame him. Jon doesn't like drama and he got pulled into this because he had a bad incident with Zoe Quinn prior to the Five Guys thing so he hinted he didn't like her and laughed at a comic about her. Then people started making propaganda posters and other stuff with his face on them. He starts getting harassed 24/7 for something he doesn't even really care about. His life has sucked because GG people (before it was called Gamergate) were pushing him into it.

The guy just wants to make funny videos about old shitty video games.

I'll keep that in mind.

Note that even it's intellectually dishonest or unfair, that tactic works if you're trying to convince the average observer.

I feel you man. That is the bane of trying to talk politics with people and it hurts even more when it happens to people you like/are related to.
