Anti GG just started a new hash tag called #TWEETLIKENOTYOURSHIELD, were they mock people using #NOTYOURSHIELD, only to come off as genuinely racist. SJWs at their finest.

I keep thinking GamerGate is getting out of hand but then I see shit like this and realize how fucking stupid some of these people are. They build a business that is mostly powered by clickbaiting, purposely going out of their way to create articles just to create controversy without actual facts or objectivity so they can use clicks to pump up their ad revenue, then when ads get pulled because people are sick of it they're talking to marketing people about how that they should ignore complaints as long as they keep delivering the "truth".

Gawker is ran by terrible people. The worst part is they're not even very smart about it yet they've actually flourished.

Y'know... here's the thing. I have worked with companies comprising anywhere from 30 to 30,000 people, and every single last one of them was explicitly clear that even though something might be your person social media account, you are a reflection of your employer. So, while people are entitled to have their own opinions ("I like this sports team," "I don't like this TV show,"), it's strongly encouraged not to make as ass of yourself in the process because sure as shit, it WILL rub off on your employer.

Honestly, before this whole clusterfuck happened, I thought this was common knowledge and common practice to regulate oneself and not be a complete and total dipshit online. Seriously, are these people's heads so far up their asses that they don't really realize how reality fucking works?

Journalists, bloggers, whateverthefuck... these people are just fucking self-righteous pricks, the whole fucking lot.

The sad part is Todd will not get any comeuppance for this shit. Even if Channel Awesome fires him, he's still got Chez Apocalypse to host his videos. Fuck you Todd.

That's what amazes me about the whole thing. I've never heard of any other type of journalists being so contemptuous towards their own audience. Could you imagine if a website for hunters put up an article that "hunters are dead", and went on to describe them as inbred yokels? And then when called on it, said "unless you're an inbred yokel, this article isn't about you, and you have no reason to be offended." The craziest thing is that they believe by convincing the general public, people who normally doesn't give a flying fuck about their websites, will somehow help them a few months down the road. You know, after burning all their bridges with so many gamers and advertisers who aren't just temporary visitors there for a scandal.

Purely because I feel like it, here's a dispassionate analysis and breakdown of the article.

Whilst I don't like Anita one bit, on some level, she does have some salient points... Or rather would, if she actually had a capacity to talk about them, which she doesn't here. There is a few issues that she almost comes within striking distance of actually talking about, such as how games are marketed, but she comes shy of talking about it, because the Interviewer keeps shifting gears and instead talks about her works like Tropes vs Women and similar, and how people reacted to those.

The bulk of the article thereafter is personal aggrandizement about how important and useful her work is - with every legitimate point she makes completely and wholly undermined by the massive ego-trip she's clearly having making it. In the following paragraph, she proceeds to drop any veneer of decency and launches into a full-fledged attack, calling Gamergate essentially a temper-tantrum performed by a gaggle of entitled misogynist children, completely disrespecting any legitimate audience from the gaming community she may have had a possibility of winning over to her side and essentially making very clear that she is less interested in dialogue so much as she is sensationalism. She claims repeatedly that Gamergate is about upholding a status quo, when anyone with even passing familiarity with Gamergate understands that Gamergate is as much about upholding the status quo as Spec Ops: The Line is about a feel-good wargame where you do heroic things.

One good thing she does say (surprisingly) is that people on her side need to chill the fuck out and be more open to dialogue. There's some information alluding to being willing to listen to what GG has to say if the harassment stops, but this is immediately buried again by the interviewer claiming that the entire Gamergate community is little more than conspiracy theorists. Classy.

Actually, the Interviewer in this one gets special mention, because whilst I have no love for Sarkeesian, this Interviewer is clearly trying to stir the shit. Never, not once, does the interviewer ask her for elaboration on her espousing that Gamergate is automatic misogyny. It's worth noting that many of Sarkeesian's most objectionable statements here are directly responses to the Interviewer baiting them himself, and in doing so, the Interviewer's arguably being more offensive than Sarkeesian herself is. It's the Interviewer who's first dismissive of Sarkeesian's critics, and it's the Interviewer himself who calls it a "Temper Tantum."

A general synopsis here is that Sarkeesian herself staggers about in this article. Good points she has fail because they're playing second fiddle to the primary attack viewpoint, and the entire thing evolves into click-baiting shit-kicking. It's really doing nothing that a dozen other articles haven't done better or more competently. The Interviewer himself gets a special mention for being able to soft-ball especially badly, tossing Sarkeesian loaded questions and never once questioning the validity of anything she says, even if it may be incorrect (the "all Gamergaters are petulent children" angle).

The tragedy of Sarkeesian is that - even if you hate her - there's a lot of legitimately good dialogue that could be pried out of her if she ever were to sit down in a more direct, neutral setting for honest and earnest discussion. Talk about things like grown-ups. Disagree with class. Instead, either by design or accident (mostly the former, going by what we've seen), Sarkeesian chooses to be part of the ongoing attack vector, her very career weaponized by so-called SJWs hoping to use her words to beat their enemies, and click-baiters to make a cheap buck. Sarkeesian herself clearly doesn't care about either - what she cares about is her own finances and projects, and so long as those move forward, she doesn't care what her supporters do or where they stand on the issues.

Sarkeesian isn't a so-called SJW, nor is she a Tumblrite. She's a woman who had a few interesting - possibly even good - ideas, and realized that if they could stir controversy hard enough, they'd be "successful" (economically at least) by default. The first time she went out, some asshole Brazilian guy capitalized on it with death threats. That got the SJWs stirred up, and when they got the vapors they kicked gamers in return, provoking the most toxic of their community first and foremost.

She laughed all the way to the bank. Once.

She's trying to do it more, but the thing is that it's starting to flag. People are opening their eyes and looking at things deeper, which means that her options are to do the same thing harder, with full-on PR blitzes (which will piss off Gamers and people who she doesn't speak for), try to ratchet things back and try actual discussion (which will alienate the so-called SJWs), or keep trying to hype herself, or take the money and run (in which case she loses).

She brought this on herself, and deserves no sympathy for it.

Where do I begin. Like everything single word and phrase is wrong. It's pretty common knowledge that Anita doesn't play vidya. Yes, there was some misogynist comments flung at her, but there's also a good number of legit criticism too. Outside of Vidya, she really doesn't touch upon Pop Culture (well she did at her start). She's not a critic, she's a commentator. Finally, "pop culture's most valuable critic"? Seriously? Fucking Seriously!?!?!
