It's pretty much why a lot of people (myself being one of them) really don't like Anita or Zoe.
Anita's literally a case, perhaps even the most stereotypical one, of a "fake gamer girl" who pretends to be into it for attention and, in this case, money.
Zoe is just a goddamn sociopathic fraud with no apparent redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Most cases we wouldn't care. Honestly it's kinda karma how many have been willingly scammed. Except the thing is: these people are being presented as the faces of female representation. They're being held up on a pedestal by feminists and tumblrinas alike as people to be admired and emulated.

And all they're doing is re-enforcing awful misconceptions about those who actually are gamers and developers. It shits on an tosses aside women who've actually done things (I've seen a small collection noted in a post, I'll need to find it again sometime) and fosters any hard feelings people would have towards women as well. These people are literally validating misogyny.

Sorry about a-loggin' there but it really gets me how so many people will blindly try and make things worse and defend awful people who make things harder for the people they "care" about and other awful things for something as arbitrary as what's between their legs, gleefully throwing way more people with the same things under the bus.

In Biddle's defense, "I got hacked" is much easier to type out in comparison to "I was being a shitlord on the Internet and got caught".

His "I got hacked" message would have been a lot better received if his boss hadn't joined in on the fun while they were in the same room together and both supported him and talked his own shit.

They can laugh but the people they sneer at can cost them an awful lot of business.~
Really these people shoot themselves in the foot as much as Chris and over a much shorter timespan too. At some point nobody will want to be affiliated with them which is basically why Gamergate is set to win: as soon as the lies clear, people get to see who the real monsters are.
