I am not sure if I want to play multiplayer as I suck at gaming and really don't want to interact with other people. I would have to be with people that know me and that I trust.
There's always co-op games. I really like The Last Stand for Dawn of War II.

If you prefer Solo gaming, can I recommend Shantae: The Pirate's Curse? Beautifully animated, excellent humor, really fun game, and a protagonist who learns a valuable lesson over the course of a game.

I don't think the fantasy genre is really my kind of thing. I'm thinking that I'll save up and get the Sims3 to start out with. Probably will go to Gamestop or something. I'm just not sure which version I should get.
That's cool. Everyone has their own tastes. There's some great games out there to try, and I'm sure you'll find them. Sims 3 is great fun though.

Consider also FTL (probably the best space game in years), Kerbal Space Program (for being just hilarious and epic in general), and Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People if you like Adventure Games.

Thanks Jaimas (I don't know how to mention people on here) I'll keep those in mind. Considering that I will be in a tight financial situation the next couple of months I will have to hold off until I get enough to buy the Sims 3. I'm thinking of going to Gamespot to see if I can get more advice on which to use. Looking at Steam's list, the game doesn't seem that costly.

Anyway, as for gaming "journalism". It's a shame that most of the mainstream journalists out there were hacks long before GamerGate. Thing is, that it's been kind of a dream of mine to become a video game journalist. Sure, I'm a college drop-out who never even set foot in a journalism class. But I'm a damn good writer, my literary heroes are Hunter S. Thompson and Mark Ames and I'm a sarcastic sonofabitch who isn't afraid to call bullshit (albeit I'll have to be careful now, what with all the SJW's and shit). Now I just need to know how to break in and carve a niche for myself.

Damn good writers have no place in video game "journalism" and never have. Find a better way to use your talents, such as literally anything else.

Geoff Keighley was a damn good writer. Go look at some early pics of him in his career. Bright starry eyes of hope churning with love for games, now?

There is no light in those eyes. There is no love for games.

There is only the Doritos.

Only the Dew.

One thing I hate is that Quinn and co. so obviously don't actually give a fuck about women and are entirely in it for their own personal game. They're playing all these people (including some of my friends) like damn pianos and the people who call them out for it are immediately labeled misogynists/racists/MRAs/whatever.

I just wish I could make them realize they aren't doing anything to help fight misogyny and are just enabling a bunch of manipulative, incredibly toxic people. Unfortunately I don't think I'll accomplish anything other than starting needless drama and possibly ruining friendships.

I swear, the SJW craze is probably one of the best things to happen to malignant narsicists and their ilk. They can easily get away with all the bullshit they want AND get their victim complex diddled at the same time. It sickens me.

Strike out on your own. Set up with an outlet that isn't shit, and don't compromise your principles. Be aware of what goes on. Put your audience and customers first. You may not wind up the most successful this way, but if you're doing what you enjoy, give your customers what they want, and you're not compromising yourself to do it, then fuck everyone else.

Trust me, there'll be someplace that needs you.

Yes, I think rebooted Lara Croft was more realistic and I could relate more to, despite being male, than the original (even back when the first one came out, I thought she was kinda ridiculous and wondered what the hell was wrong with guys drooling after polygonal boobs). Of course I would like to see more games with minorities as protagonists.

Rebooted Lara cried over everything and went from British aristocracy to sheltered valley girl. Juts because she had a more common cup size and better graphics didn't make her a better character. Just sayin'... As a woman... I'd rather massive boobs and a strong character than a wuss who is more average in the chesticle department. Also, I've never felt alienated or unwanted in gaming. Apart from when I first tried playing a CoD game and got earache for a couple of days but that wasn't because I was a woman. It was because I was shit...

Facts are sacred huh? fck you guardian I shoulda stopped reading you when you started asslicking dictators because they fit your "MURICA BAD" narrative

There is a political weirdness to this, where anti-gg is supposedly liberal, but does so many things normally associated with conservatives. What it really comes down to is that it's an authoritarian movement. This is what authoritarians are about: http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/ This is long as fuck(you probably wont want to read it unless you're interested in politics and are wondering wtf is going on with Republicans), but it applies here because authoritarianism is as much a personality trait as a political one. The important traits, and holy shit do you see this in anti-gg, are things like a strong sense of "us vs them". Forcing everyone to be in lock step in their beliefs, and ostracizing everyone else. Extreme oversimplification of issues. Treating everything like a war. Refusing to listen to people because they're evil. Tainted. Impure. Another one that's more subtle is that you hear the SJW game journalists talk about a "top down" approach to changing games. As in taking over media, developers, etc. and forcing changes to be more inclusive of [insert group]. This would be the polar opposite from a "bottom up" approach -- trusting the consumer base to make the right decision (buying games that cater to them) and allow the free market to adjust accordingly.

I'll give you one guess as to who knows better what demographics will buy what games: The game companies who have actual money on the line, or the SJWs who have feels.

Silly Gawker is silly.

Definitely should be added into any emails to Kotaku's advertisers.

Yeah, authoritarianism isn't a very good business model, especially in a market with lots of competition (like, say, the entertainment industry).

This is a TGWTG reviewer advising people who are a part of Gamergate to donate to Anita and Zoe just so people know they don't hate women.

Oh man one of you had better suggest that Brianna Wu should buy one of Chris' medallions to prove she doesn't hate the autistic.
