Found this on Twitter. Turns out H8chan isn't such a bad place.

A game called Hatred just released a trailer today. It looks, and sounds, EXACTLY like Postal - no joke, like, it's literally postal but with kill-cams and pretty nice animations.

This was posted... maybe 2 hours ago, and has less than 8k views. There are currently 7 articles bemoaning how awful and horrible and no good and tasteless and terrible, with many more to come, and if my predict-o-meter is right it will be followed by countless Op/ed pieces decrying the moral decay such games cause.

All from websites and people that have lambasted Jack Thompson and spent years arguing that "games don't cause people to be violent".

Edit: Because of course polygon and moms

Hell I would play that game. The visuals remind me of XCOM meeting Sin City.

Hatred looks visually pretty cool. The story (if there is one) is controversial and dark, sure, but I suspect that it ends with the main character getting his comeuppance (:tomgirl:).

At least the Dude being an actual schizo gave POSTAL 1 a sort of physcological horror vibe. This is Crawling in my Skin DMC5 Dante shit. There's nothing to it but "I FUCKING HATE EVERYBODY AND I WANT TO KILL THEM." It's not even that ballsy to release a game like this nowadays as the Jack Thompson era is over.

Gamergate, since October 10th, has been written about on Gawker Media (Kotaku, Gawker, Jezebel, Deadspin) every day. It just so happens this is also Boycott Kotaku week, with every day a call of action to email sponsors of Kotaku to tell them you are displeased with the content of their articles and their lack of ethics or accountability.

There's no way those two things are related, are they? Like, Nick Denton wouldn't possibly be pissed and having 4 of the... what, 7 arms of his Big Media Empire lash out because this has cost him money as people quietly pull out or tell him they will not be renewing advertising contracts?

There's no basis behind this post, nothing I can point to. But Gawker Media has spent two months now ignoring this particular problem, short of a couple pissy essays by Totillo about how this is a non-issue and they're updating their ethics policies until John Walker from RPS threw a bitch fit and they walked back on most of it without a word. They've got plenty of other clickbait too, with Ebola and Elections and Cops Shooting People, so why the sudden, consistent flood of focus on an issue that wasn't even worth their time?

Because I think they're scurred.

The only reason I'm offended is because they didn't use this for the trailer music.

I could see this played for some really insanely black humour though. If it's thuper cereal then yeah, the game is gonna suck considerably hairy testicles.

However if it's totally over the top, like so stupid you have to laugh kind of thing, or as a social satire, then it could work.

Oh, I have no doubts that it would work as a parody of edgelords, but I can tell by the trailer that they're playing it straight.

IT LOOKS SO EDGY THAT MY WRISTS GOT CUT WATCHING IT AND ARE BLEEDING BY THE GALLON OF THE PRECIOUS FLUID

(in other words, I like it. I am a sucker for #2edgy as a theme)

But I think that is really something now if the same guys who used to laugh at Jack Thompson (I would rather have 10 Jack Thompsons then 1 Anita, at least JT belived his crap and was doing it FOR THE CHILDREN!1 instead of to sell DVDs) are saying this game is vile.

Looks interesting, i hope it's actually playable unlike Postal 1, which i've tried countless times and still can't figure out the controls for it.
