aaaaaaaaand just saw the rationalwiki gamergate article. which can be summed up as thusly

"HOU DAR U CRITICISE A FRAGILE FEMININE FLOWER MESOGGYNEESTS!!!! UR ALL RACIST AND SEXIST BECAUSE GAMEJOURNOS TOLD US U WERE AND THESE MONTH OLD CHATLOGS FROM 4CHAN PROVE YOU ARE ALL JUST SOCKS OF 4CHAN"

fck rationalwiki. theres nothing rational about them. they are just another worthless hive of dogmatic SJW shitstains. When someone who stands for rationality willingly throws enquiry, skepticism, basic fcking research, and not trying to twist facts to support their shit (seriously, their sole "source" of gamergate being nothing but an evil 4chan conspiracy and everyone supporting it being a disgusting white male misogynist are those out of context and utterly manipulatively edited chatlogs zoe paraded during her "gameovergate" debacle) simply to pander to someone who claims to represent a good thing (i.e. feminism), that person is nothing but a fcking hack and a fcking traitor to the word "rational".

Rationalwiki is about as rational as Fox News is Fair and Balanced.

They think simply saying that they're always right will magically make it true.

This whole thing is getting so surreal. On another board, one that had a mix of pro and antigg, one of the antis actually pulled the "ignorant and proud of it" card, which I've only ever seen from creationists up until then.

Full list:
Wikipedia, RationalWiki and NPR are biased vehicles for ideology, Breitbart, Know Your Meme, ED and the fucking Chinese government have all the facts.
4Chan is now a haven for SJW's, a "Safe Space" while GameFaqs allows open discussion.
Tim Schafer and Joss Whedon are talking shit and hated by everyone, Milo Yiannopoulos and several /pol/acks have gathered universal respect.
EA and triple A gaming are bastions of integrity, massive corruption is exposed among indie devs.
Redditors and Channers are cooperating and looking out for each other, SJW's and Tumblrites are tearing each other to pieces.
I think the Mayan calendar was off by a few years.

The worst part is I was actually a fairly active Rationalwiki editor right up until this happened. I had been seriously considering making an article on Jace (he'd fit right in under their "Paramilitary woo" page, and I already added him to their "mall ninja" page). But after seeing the reaction I got for trying to be rational about Gamergate, I logged out of Rationalwiki and I have no plans to ever log back in.

Just looked at the Rationalwiki article on gamergate.

He's right about forming an industry group. We need to listen to Milo, his judgment on this is good.

I disagree. That would only make GG more vulnerable to political bullshit. Notice how many people and organizations in this shitstorm joined the anti-gg side, or have remained silent about this due to peer pressure and political backlash. GG only got this far because it doesn't care about this kind of political bullshit. Politics is their game. So long as they control the media, it's impossible to win that. At best, they'll grudgingly accept you while carefully watching you, waiting for you to step out of line.

The only thing GG needs to do is to keep attacking their wallets.

I agree with this sentiment. Whilst GamerGate's criticisms could be drawn by people acting out of line with the core directive, the lack of clear organisational structure also works to GamerGate's advantage. With a leader and/or hierarchy, you simply give the opposition a target which they can label and attack. Remember that these are SJWs we are talking about here: It wouldn't matter if Obama became GamerGate's leader, they'd still lay into them over the supposed "harassment" they've suffered, regardless of how much they've inflicted in turn.

By keeping GG chaotic in structure, there's no-one for them to go after. They have to try to demonise the hashtag instead of focusing on any one person's past and/or present.

"Hilariously enough, these people actually think that they're reasonable. Nothing could be further from the truth for RationalWiki than the word "rational" it proudly sports in its name. The contributors and editors of the wiki are hopelessly irrational and butthurt and will stop at nothing at proving they're the biggest flamers on the internet. Known as hipster-pseudo-intellectual-fags, the operators of the RationalWiki are trapped in the mind-slog which is their critical thinking skills."
- excerpt from Encyclopedia Dramatica's "RationalWiki" article.

I find the above description to be quite accurate.

The Mothership has arrived, prepare for Gawker incoming:

What is #Gamergate?

"#GamerGate" is an online movement ostensibly concerned with ethics in game journalism and with protecting the "gamer" identity.

"Ostensibly"?

Even regarded generously, Gamergate isn't much more than a tone-deaf rabble of angry obsessives with a misguided understanding of journalistic ethics. But there are a lot of reasons not to regard the movement generously.

LOL, too rich coming from FUCKING GAWKER of all places.

So Intel pulled its ads from Gamasutra because of a bunch of people attacking a woman after her boyfriend claimed he'd cheated on her?

Well, not quite. In September, the attacks on Quinn coalesced into an organized campaign, coordinated on 4chan, Reddit, YouTube and in various IRC channels. Gamers came to a consensus that publicly harassing a woman over her sex life was a bad look. They quickly pivoted to focus on corruption in games journalism.

They started with Kotaku writer Nathan Grayson, one of the alleged "five guys," who stood accused of writing positively about Quinn while engaged in a sexual relationship with her.

But Grayson never reviewed Depression Quest. He once wrote half a sentence about the game, before his relationship with Quinn ever started, but that's it.

Despite numerous news sources, including Kotaku itself, debunking the existence of such a review, some gamers continue to trot it out as an example of journalistic corruption months later.

(Kotaku and Gawker are sister sites, both owned by Gawker Media LLC.)

This is both amusing and maddening - seriously, the way this piece is written, Gawker is trying to paint this bleak picture that their poor abused journalists, who have done nothing wrong, are being abused by meanies who hate Zoe Quinn SOO much they got the largest chip maker in the world to pull support for a completely unrelated website.

I can't even enough.

In the future, try to archive it instead of directly linking the article. You don't want to give them more clicks do you?

If you can PM me a link I'll make the change to that post. My company actually has archiving sites net nannied so I can't access them.

Edit: and updated, thanks dude
