Multiple political blogs I previously respected and used to look to for information regarding political events have a de-facto media blackout on Gamergate, but there's been fucking rational discussion on Redstate, which heretofor had been the source of some of the best political shit to make me laugh outside of the Onion.

IGN is currently the fucking least openly corrupt large-scale games media organization currently out there. Just 2 months ago, we'd all have laughed at this prospect.

Our side features /pol/, who is known for being one of the least-approachable and most outright-assholish boards on the tubernets. The other side gleefully talks about employing Sarin gas against us and comparing us to Himmler and ISIS.

Our side features /v/, the single most hateful, spiteful, anger-ridden board on the whole of the *chans. /v/ sponsored TFYC, and helped cover TotalBiscuit's surgery, whilst the other side actively DDoSed and Doxed people.


The whole damned world's gone insane around us.
 
I'm extremely behind on this and I just wanted to be clarified on something, is being pro-GamerGate mean you're against the corruption in game journalism/indie development or you're against the supposed harassment of women?

A little more on-topic but it's truly sad that places like 4chan and Reddit are now full of SJW's. It's a dark time.

The corruption. We want to be far away from the unrelated shitstorm of supposed misogynistic harassment which does not exist coming from our side.

Everyone who is sane is against the harassment of women. Any claim otherwise is just setting up strawmen to knock over.

Ostensibly it's about both: it's about journalistic ethics primarily and isn't supportive of harassment while encouraging all people who like games to make and play them.

The irony, of course, being that people who scream about misogyny and sexism are the least inclusive group.

As SJWs consider ANY criticism to be harassment I'm not really sure how anyone could avoid that part. For my part it's about corruption in gaming journalism and development. Rigged game jams and award ceremonies, reporting on games you've invested in or people you have a relationship with etc. But it's a lot easier for anti-GG to just say we're all women haters... Especially us gamergate women... We're brainwashed by the patriarchy.

The thing is, a bigger problem is that any form of criticism against women has been used as evidence of harassment of women. This is utterly unfair and the reason why people are likely going to get accused of it even after denial. But the thing is, it's not that we want to exercise the right to criticize women at every possible moment, we just want the freedom to do so when necessary.

But since it's a hot topic, we can't bring it up now. Or maybe ever.
 
FYI: My mental cannon is that being "brainwashed by the patriarchy" involves guys meat spinning at you until you agree to make them a sammich.

That's the most disturbing thing I've heard in a while. China - better known as "Government Censorship Central" - is acting with more integrity on this issue than most news sites here...

Maybe this is China's grand plan for world domination: Don't invade other countries, just let them destroy themselves from within, in a wave of USI-retard stupidity.

China is using this for personal gain like they usually do. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the sites participating in the #GG debacle are blocked in China and that most of the Asian populace itself does not know or even care about this since Social Justice Activism and shit is a major taboo due to the culture and government differences in Asia, especially a place like China. That and discussing media corruption in a place like China will probably get you roughed up by the police. So why would they care about Gamergate?

I think they're trying to use us.

That's what fucking gets me about RationalWiki. For so long they've been taking the route of "lol homeopathy, lol religion, lol conspiracy theories, lol illuminati" but the moment this #GamerGate issue flares up it's just a minutes-long record scratch and they decide to alienate a giant swath of their audience. I'm not bankrolling RationalWiki by any means, but I've donated generously to their project in the past. They won't be getting my money ever again.
