Man...I've been away from the house with no internet conmnection. Just got back and decided to check out how this had progressed.
Really sad to see that basically all the "higher-ups" want to ignore this until it goes away. Many people are saying that this Zoe Quinn scandal doesn't matter, but... Let's see:
The first time I ever heard about Zoe Quinn was when all those gaming news sites published the whole "Zoe Quinn" is being harrassed by "evil, sexist gamers". I didn't even question the truth behind it. I imediately felt bad for her and thought reallyadly about all those "douchebag gamers" out there. I didn't really pursue it further, as somebody who's enjoyed playing video games since the early 1990's, I've encountered enough douchebaggery and sexist assholes to believe something like that.
Then it comes out that Miss Quinn is a pretty terrible person. Let's ignore the fact that she cheated on her boyfriend with more than one guy. She lied to bring attention and money to herself, she harrassed and destroyed other's campains/reputations, and abused censorship to suit her means. Her funraising campains are sketchy, and nobody knows where the funds are going to. She claims to be for women's rights, but I have yet to hear her say anything that I can go "Yeah!".
The double standard that's being applied here is amazing. It's the kind of stuff that fuels MRAs and mysoginists. Instead people seem to be ignoring her behaviour and just focusing on her gender, I keep finding articles like this one:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...-lives-zoe-quinn-virtual-rape-and-sexism.html . Let's be frank here, if this was a guy that was sleeping around with female journalists to get money and publicity, these same sites would be condeming him as just another example of how "sick the gaming industry is". Example:
It's genuinely upsetting to see people like Zoe be the face of "girls in the industry". I'm pretty sure there have to be tons of female gamedevs outt there thata ren't scummy and are normal-well adjusted people. The gaming press just doesn't seem to want tp write about them. All the people involved in "Zoegate" need to be judged for their behaviour, not their gender.
