Regarding Japanese games, I can only think of Dragon's Crown due to the Sorceress who is a buxom character (enough that A-Log would lust after her). Said character was criticized by a member of Kotaku if I recall. Even then, I'd also wonder if they'd complain about Dragon's Dogma (A game from Capcom) since your armor as a female can be a chainmail bikini, never mind the fact that even guys can have that (Leather belts and bandit stalkers, that is all). I say all this since it could be possible they might complain about female characters being sexualized for their armor.
They'd have had a point on that one if it wasn't for the fact that Dragon's Crown, like many Vanillaware games, was specifically intended to take the piss. Yes, there's an obscenely buxom sorceress character you can play as. There's also a mostly-naked man in a loincloth who wrestles enemies to death, a bishie wizard who would moisten the panties of any self-respecting female adventurer, and a fairy that takes breaks by having a nice dip in someone's tankard of booze.

It's fine to have conversations on character design and what-have-you - those are important, and really, we should have those more often - but to target a game specifically for that design choice, and then treat it like it was some institutionalized attempt at male-dominance nonsense when it was done to mock it kind of reeks of silliness. I remember some time ago there was some big kerfluffle about some jackass claiming Bayonetta was sexist, when an interview with the dev team later essentially explained that the centerpiece of Bayonetta was creating an empowered female character with intimidating, if not weaponized, sexuality, and essentially making the guy behind it out to be a herp of the very derpiest scale.

You don't play a lot of Japanese games, do you?
Not much. Mostly play western games such as Thief 2 or Starbound but not much Japanese games. Only mentioned Dragon's Crown since some places on Tumblr would no doubt complain about the Sorceresses design. Still, with that mention of Japanese games, iirc I remember someone posting a picture from Tumblr where someone thought Pokemon was racist since a remake for Ruby and Sapphire would have Team Aqua with a darker skin tone.

Doesn't stop Bayonetta from being stupid in other aspects, but I'm not going to discuss it here because the focus is 'HOT WOMEN THREATEN FEMINISM' and Bayonetta admittedly handles that.

That said, it's a Hideki Kamiya game, isn't it? Look at The Wonderful 101. Three major female characters out of five have scenes which focus on their asses and boobs. I'm not saying he's sexist and therefore dismissable, I'm saying the guy likes sexualized women. So it's probably right to feel skeeved out by it.

That's the weakness of fighting for equality by focusing solely on the issues of one side.

That's unusual since Japan usually gets a pass because a lot of the SJW's are also weebs so they turn a blind eye and only focus on the oh, so evil Western culture. Though admittedly I've noticed that they're starting to scrutinize more Japanese games now, somehow in the end they still seem to blame white males for it all though.
The complaint was 'Cultural Appropriation'

The complaint was 'Cultural Appropriation'

Ah yes, that. I remember seeing a Tumblr post last year about celebrities appropriate different cultures in their music videos, live performances, etc. I've seen one about how Madonna appropriated Japanese culture in her music video "Nothing Really Matters." Thing is, she was in a stage where she was studying Far Eastern philosophies and decided to encourage symbolism from Japan in her video.

Rihanna and Coldplay came out with a song called "Princess of China" that feature different things from Asian culture, not specifically China and some SJWs had a shit storm about that.

I feel like taking pics of myself in one of my African dresses on my Tumblr and see what the responses are. Shit, I already got some on Facebook. I'm not doing this to troll but really just to see what their reactions would be.

Edit: Reading that KYM site, this isn't activism, it is outright leftist extremist bullying. I'm going to tell you something about myself and my family. My grandfather was a deaf man. He became deaf at the age of 8 due to meningitis so he was hearing before that which was why his language skills were good. In fact, according to my late mother the Michigan School for the Deaf wanted to use him as an example that they can teach understandable language and he was presented before the board. My grandfather didn't like it and told them off and basically said that he wasn't going to be used as an example because he was hearing before he became deaf.

Later on, he became a deaf and handicapped rights activist in the late 1940's and through the 1950's. He corresponded to then Michigan Representative Gerald R Ford and they came up with the Michigan Handicapped Act which, along with other acts enacted in the US became the forerunner of the American Disabilities Act. He also knew both DeVos Sr. and VanAndel Sr. and both have asked him to become a partner for Amway but my grandfather refused for some reason.

He achieved the establishment for the Concerned Citizens for the Equal Rights of the Deaf and also some other organizations. He did not act abrasive or told people things like "check your hearing privilege" or some nonsense like that. He was not shrill or bludgeon people, he used rationality and worked with people, not against them and this is what these so called "SJWs are doing. They are alienating people with their hateful diatribes. This is not how you win people over to your side or cause. By being obnoxious they are pushing people that would be interested away.

I am pretty sure that if he was alive today and if he saw what these SJWs are doing and saying, he would probably either be laughing or he would be angry, or both.

*Note, we had the papers of correspondance between Gerald R Ford, however they got lost or stolen and that is unfortunate because it was supposed to be handed down to my mother and then me and I really want to be able to prove this. I am not saying this for bragging rights but to show what a true social justice activist is supposed to do. What the SJWs are doing are counterproductive to what many before have worked hard for. For true social justice, blogging isn't going to do anything because the important people that you need to reach (politicians, other activists, organizations) aren't going to read your little blog because they don't know about them.

That was me. I can't believe with the heavily-water damaged ceilings, the poor lighting that only allows in some unfiltered light from windows above, and those steel columns that it's a convention center, it seriously looks like a warehouse. It's plausible that it could be a convention center, as I've seen department/discount stores hastily converted into "convention centers" by just stripping the décor and flooring out, so this is probably along that same line.

That would be Jason Schreier. He had some strange arguments about how the Sorceress appeals to lolicon fans. I don't think he knows what lolicon is...

WTF that's the biggest pair of animu boobs I've ever seen, that's no lolicon bait.

I've seen men who are better lolicon bait, in real life even. WTF.

Dear lord, put that thing in a spoiler tag and add a warning to your post. I nearly lost my dinner.

Point, I suppose, but then, Hideki Kamiya's got a history of making people uncomfortable for the lulz, so there you go.

More on topic: I was watching an old tape of Star Wars crap my dad recorded, and it had some ad for a news article where some asshat was throwing out the "games are corrupting our youth; get off my lawn" canard of the day, and it featured, prominently, one of the YOU DIED screens from Resident Evil 2 and saying it promoted cannibalism. It made me mildly nostalgic.

Someone's mad that the coke doesn't have her name on it.

Hold on, wait a minute, that reminds me of someone....
