Something fucky is going on at York City. Just a couple of months after they won promotion back into the EFL the manager has been given the boot:
York City Football Club can confirm that Stuart Maynard will be leaving his role as First Team Manager, with immediate effect. This has not been an easy decision, and it is not one the board has taken lightly. Ultimately, it comes down to a difference in direction and vision for the football club.We recognise that, from the outside, this may look like a strange or difficult decision to understand. But we believe that in the long term, the football club will be in a stronger position because of it, another step towards the vision we, as custodians of this club, believe will deliver sustained success.Like every one of you, we love this football club, and we would never make a decision we didn’t believe was in its best long-term interests. We hope our track record of improving year on year has earned us a degree of trust, and we understand that not everyone will agree with, or fully understand, this decision right away.We would like to thank Stuart for his contribution to York City FC and wish him well for the future.

Also apparently English football have volunteered to be guinea pigs for a trial into stopping tactical goalkeeper timeouts. The version they're looking at is an outfield player has to leave the pitch for one minute: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/clyjxd53zkpo
If a referee signals that the physio can come on to treat a goalkeeper, the coach will have 10 seconds to nominate another player to leave the pitch for one minute, telling the fourth official of their choice.

If no player has been selected within 10 seconds, the captain must leave the field.

There was a situation similar to this with Accrington Stanley a year or two ago when their super long time manager was fired. That was a financial issue where Accrington had to remind the manager that they sell about 300 tickets a home game and can't afford to sign League One players. Might be something similar here
Allegedly Real Madrid is paying 135 million for Diamonde from RB Leipzig.
Allegedly Arsenal is going to make Vinicius their biggest transfer ever.
Allegedly Vinicius is going to make me slit my wrists

And now Maldini and Leonardo have resigned from their Italy jobs over the President not being on board with hiring Pirlo. 10 days on the job. I'm officially dubbing Italy the Premier Lolcow of International Football.

It's official now, Zidane is new coach of the French national team.

Edit: And Mancini is new coach for the Italians.

Roberto Mancini has been appointed Italy manager for a second time - just a day after Andrea Pirlo ruled himself out of the running for the job and technical director Paolo Maldini resigned.

Gennaro Gattuso left his role as Italy boss in April after the Azzurri failed to qualify for a third successive World Cup.

Pirlo looked set to take over but on Monday pulled out following controversy over his ties to a Russian betting company.

"I believed that the best person to become head coach was Roberto Mancini," said Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Giovanni Malago.

Claudio Ranieri, who led Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2015-16, will replace Maldini as technical director.

Maldini, who was appointed to the role two weeks ago, and adviser Leonardo resigned following the decision not to appoint Pirlo.

Can we please just shoot this bellend already?

I'd love to wake up one day and that fucker is just gone. Not dead, just gone: no one can find him anywhere, he never said where he was going, just fucking gone. Can we have the normal World Cup format back please, it worked really well for years.

Fucking bald faggot.
Do you know how bad you can be that we miss previous corrupt politicians.

And you know their only language is money, sadly South America will sell their soul for money and UEFA will stand alone

I am thinking of dropping the WC if this pass. I hated the hydration break and this will be even worse.

I’ve also seen some places talk about the idea of UEFA boycotting the World Cup if this goes through. I’m not sure how that’ll work because that would just mean more spots for the rest of the world.

Anything for FIFA to have a chance to have a revenue stream to compete with the Champions League.

More spots for the rest of the world but

1. Europe is where FIFA makes the most money on tv rights.
2. How attractive would be a world cup without the top European nations and without all the European star players?
3. Main hosts of the next world cup is Spain, together with Portugal besides Morocco. It could turn into a nightmare to organize if Spain and Portugal pull out.
4. It's not only about the world cup but also about the FIFA club world cup.
5. It wouldn't only be about the men's teams but also about the women's teams (UEFA is the most succesful federation, then CONCACAF).

There are definitely ways for FIFA to circumvent all the issues and soften the financial damage, no doubt. Saudi Arabia bought shares of DAZN for 1 billion dollars while DAZN paid 1 billion dollars for the tv rights of the last FIFA club world cup which seems like a very lucky coincidence for FIFA, doesn't it?

Personally I'm 110% blackpilled to believe that UEFA has any real leverage. FIFA will pull through with their plan. FIFA has sent a letter to all the national federation explaining their plan. The plan is to outsource all the business stuff into a new company called the FIFA Forward Enterprise and that this company must sell a stake (around 20 percent) to investors. FIFA promises all national federation money in four year cycles. 20 million for the next four years, then 22 million, then 24 millionen and so on and on. Also every national federation who votes with "yes" for FIFA's plan will get a 20 million payout for their vote. That's a lot of money for a lot of national federations, even for the German one. CAF already signaled their ok, the AFC too. OFC will definitely vote for it.

Realistically it could only be prevented if both UEFA and the CONMEBOL would refuse their ok and would both totally boycott the FIFA tournaments. A world cup without any European or South American team would be a death blow to the world cup. FIFA club world cup without any of the big European or South American teams would be instantly dead. But how realistic is it that both UEFA and CONMEBOL would boycott the FIFA tournaments? Yeah.

UEFA and us fans can all cry and lament as much as we want.

There was a lot of kvetching about the ticket prices at the last world cup, rightfully so. And what happened? Fans payed the insane prices nevertheless. FIFA made a record revenue on ticket sales alone. Humans are cattle. They will consume, they own nothing and they will be happy.
