We never really did see him get overly emotional and angry huh? Enough to kick a player on the ground? Or slam his armband down because a teammate made an honest mistake? Or refuse to celebrate with a teammate because they scored a goal? Or elbow a player then wipe a badge down on his shirt as he got sent off the field? Or raise his fist at a referee?
It'd be terrible if we ever saw a player acting that petulantly on the pitch.
God, I mean I'm glad we're ahead but stutter penalties need to fucking go. It basically turns a 50:50 set piece into something like 90:10 provided they don't sky it.
If we were eliminated by a pen like that I'd be raging.

I miss when Warren Ellis used to post comments on World Cup games. He had a decent turn of phrase for when England played like they had made it to the play offs as a result of Make A Wish.
One of the podcasts I actually respect pointed this out for Messi. Him playing in the MLS and not playing in all the South American qualifiers (mostly due to the fact you could sneeze and qualify) meant he was fresh for the World Cup. He didn't have to really extend himself much for the past season or 2 and could properly prepare for this World Cup. Should be interesting to see how he performs later on and if he starts to wear down
