It's the fourth fucking match interrupted by stormy weather, holy shit.
Well, other than the Palmeiras match yesterday, those only hit the crappiest games. This time, it was the Benfica vs. Auckland City game whose second half start will have to wait due to heavy rain.

And speaking of which, Portuguese football fucking sucks. Benfica is "only" beating Auckland 1x0 due to a late penalty scored by Noodle Di María.

I'd like to think it was also partly Auckland stepping it up, that first game was embarrassing for them.

Flamengo just went up 3-1, with Chelsea on a red card. About 7 minutes plus stoppage time left.
Edit to add: Final 3-1. Apparently South American teams have yet to lose in this CWC?

Goes 1-1, Chelsea throw Jackson on, they concede instantly for 2-1, and three minutes later Jackson gets a red card.

Fucking lol.

Someone needs to tell Chelsea's keeper that he can in fact use his hands.

I fucking hate Flamengo. Pick the stereotypical rude asshole sports fan, add a good dose of niggerdom and unwarranted self-importance, and there you have it. They make Philadelphia sports fans seem like an example of civility and good behavior.

With that said... get fucked, Chelsea, you Smurf-ass plastic fuckers.

Somehow, Brazil's clubs are showing the level of skill and willpower that is sorely lacking in our NT.
If Carletto and the CBF higher-ups notice this and use the proper pieces next year, we are so fucking back.

Yep. Even Boca Juniors played damn well, despite letting Benfica tie it up. If they somehow eke out a victory from Bayern tonight - And after PSG's loss, it is very much within the realm of reality - this Club World Cup is South America's for the taking.

Addendum: Of the Big Four from Rio de Janeiro, only one is not in the Club World Cup because they spent the better part of the last 10 years going back and forth between divisions. I'd hate to be a Vasco da Gama fan at this moment.

As soulless a competition it seems, I have to admit Brazilian teams defeating plastic ass financial doping clubs like PSG and Chelshit is very romantic.
Also it's hilarious citeh are in the same group as Al-Ein

Ok club world cup. I see you
LOL, ya got me!

Seriously though, I've been enjoying things so far, especially how Match Day 2 has gone for teams. Chelsea and PSG losing? Wunderbar!

But I feel like it's even starting to get a little traction in the States. My better half and heck, even my old man, were messaging me about that Messi goal yesterday. It's too bad FIFA killed locals interest, because tickets cost way too much to start. I mean, it's way worse for fans from abroad. Just pure greed.

It could be a lot worse than some of FIFA's other Middle-Eastern funded ventures. I think there's potential, even if DAZN kinda sucks and the player walkout is so low energy.

Excited for Bayern-Boca Jrs later - not just as a Bayern fan, but feels like another great chance to see wildly contrasting styles and how they play out.

Boy oh boy, the number of battered wives yesterday must have broken records.

Well, for this one, "logic" has prevailed. This Boca team is easily the weakest South American side. And even then, they gave Bayern a hell of a game.

The boca hinchas were the best of all tournment. Literally noise hell. They never stopped. And this is literally the worst Boca of all time and this isn't even a doubt.
We gotta give it to the argies, they sure love their footy teams and stand by them in the good and bad moments. Even if they are getting wrecked to the point of no return, they will be there, singing and pulling through.
And not just the big boys like Boca and River - Even small barrio teams have their dedicated fans and barras that will attend and support them, on a heat-laden Wednesday afternoon or a rainy foggy Sunday evening. If they also weren't such simians, they would be the gold standard for sports fan experience to the whole world.

They should be using this as a promotion for the World Cup and making tickets super cheap. Fucking retards, you already got your money from the Saudi's with that stupid television deal
Fans always get fucked over game prices. Even if it was held in South America or Europe, they would price quite high anyways.

Which makes tiu think: why even fo to the match when you can see the same match from home or any bar playing it.

The WC will be safe only because the WC is so much bigger than CWC, but still, predatory pricing will happen.

As the tournament is being played in the US which has no real history of hooliganism, I agree. The fans who could be expected to fly in for a match would also not be cut from hooligan stock. If they were playing in a country with more of a history of violence from club fans, I'd be in favor of putting ticket prices out of reach for those most likely to stir up shit, but considering this is a trial run for the WC next year, seeing what will be necessary for packed stadiums should take precedence over profiting off of fans, especially fans new to the game.

I would expect South America or Europe to have high ticket prices because they actually want to see those games. In the States, you don't have as big of attention on this because its not the only thing happening with the US market. Remember, the Gold Cup is happening right now along with the MLS season.

Its not necessarily the hooliganism. Just get butts in seats, make this thing seem like a good tournament, and make the next one in 4 years mean something. If a non-european team wins this thing then it will be great publicity for the tournament and get teams to care but another way to make them care is to have full stadiums. Idk why they weren't hosting these in MLS stadiums that have 20-30k and making the tickets slightly cheaper. Have a full stadium of people to watch these games and then the broadcast doesn't look super depressing. TV money is where everything is being made and nobody wants to tune into a COVID game 5 years later

The moment a barrier collapsed after MC Alger won the title in Algeria, 3 dead and 70 injured.

It is incredible how this frequently happen through decades. This is one of my first memory, back in 2000 when this happened during the finals of Copa João Havelange. Almost 100 people got hurt but no one died. But in this video you can see other similar accidents that happened in 92 that was quite similar to this one that people died too.

And last year it happened again with 56 victims in Guinea

But the most infuriating event will always be this one, complete lunacy.

Sadly it happens so much that becomes almost as normal as a school shooting in America. And the worst part is: nowadays stadiums have more safety than they did before, so why it continues to happen even with all the knowledge from beforehand?

Edit: I wanted to more know about the 92 accident and holy shit, check this out: Maracanã total official capacity nowadays is 78.838 people. In 92 there were 122.001 paying ones but the total public was 145.560. Of these numbers, lots of people just forcing their entrance or jumping the walls to get in and children entering for free. Back then there was the blackout restrictions to local games, so you had two options: listen in the radio or go to the fucking stadium and watch there yourself. So gigantic numbers like 100k people in a game was common.

Holy shit that is an insane number even back then since it was a final, and the organizers just didn't give a fuck. They would let you in and the clubs got that sweet money, no fucks given to security at all. And this was before the game, and they played it anyway like 15 minutes later lol
