The thing about the 7x1 is that it was an anomaly of a game. Brazil just lost their best player and it was playing against a great team that would win the WC (against Argentina too). This is so true that after that they won titles and even beat Germany in the Olympics finals, getting the only trophy that they didn't had: Olympic gold at home.

ARGENTINA is one of the oldest teams in average of the whole cup and ALWAYS A HAD A PHYSICAL problem even in their first knockout game. This isn't a problem for this game specifically.

And yeah it is more humiliating. Dibu gave a performance of a lifetime being the goalie with most defenses in the history of the finals and Spain having a very inefficient attack through all tournament. The final result isn't true to what was the gamez a complete and total domination and humiliation of Argentina. We never even considered the possibility of Argentina scoring because they were dominated for an entire match.

The red card didn't change it. They were being dominated before and after in the same way.

Not true at all. That team to this very day was the worst of entire Millenium. And since we were the hosts, we didn't play the qualifiers and we only got through the KO with very decisive moments and Chile failing. Even our star players like Marcelo were the same as Vinícius Jr and raphinha today: great at club level but just shadows in the national team.

2018 and 2022 had way better teams and 2026 was terrible too but because of injuries that cut lots of the players before and during the WC.

No. They only started parking the bus later in the game, they were a tually trying and failing in the first half by being disarmed by the Spanish press in the midfield. Just see Dibu change the way he wastes time before and after. He took 40 seconds to kick the ball and there was no punishment again and again.

Paraguay vs FRANCE. That game was totally parking the bus from the start. This one only became such in the second half.

This year's Brazil was worse. I'm looking at the squad and there's a half dozen shitters who are past it and came back to play domestically or someone like Paqueta who was mediocre to shite in Europe. The fact that a completely finished Neymar(!!!) got any minutes says it all.

ngl I only caught the like the last hour of the match including extra minutes. I've lost most of my interest in soccer since VAR was implemented. I'll take your word for it.
 
listen I was all for argentians beating the brits cause I fucking hate ALL british people (besides jk rowling...shes aight) but when your competition is the spainards? yeah no get fucked.
 
I was nervious the whole Game because a bad pass would shit all the tournament.

The truly worrying thing here is that as legendary as the win in Qatar was, it served to mask the many problems of Tapia's era at AFA.

The future doesn't look bright based on what we saw this year. Argentina has produced some fantastic players but each and every one carried the stigma that they couldn't win anything of note. Every player and coach that wasn't around to win Copa America '93 up until 2021 carried that mark of futility. Tons of bad decisions were made before Tapia and tons of bad decisions will be made if he gets acked. Argentina never misses a chance to miss a chance.

I don't think anyone cared but Mexico sacked Aguirre for Rafael Marquez (one of their finest ever players and an intriguing prospect as a coach). I'm not bringing this up because Mexico may one day manage to climb to the Albiceleste's level (as if) but because it may fall victim to the same mentality of measuring your own success by your rival's failures. Uruguay does it, Brazil does it whether we like it or not and if Brazil does it that means no country is safe. Coaches and executives may go but football is corrupt as all hell, so if you don't address the problems at the root you cannot expect to win another World Cup. Quoting from Argentinian-Spanish kino Metegol "Stars fade, idols fall, cracks get old, but managers are eternal".

Every country that has won the World Cup has corruption and unsavory ways in which they practice the most important thing out of unimportant things, but troon lover dictator Mbappe missed another thing that yuros have over sudacas: they can get out of the way just long enough to fix things so the gravy train doesn't stop. Argentina either produces five national teams worth of talent they can waste or learns to stop missing chances like they always do.
 
I feel that USAF, USN, and USMC, should bomb spain, because I don't like them, not anything sports related.

Thread Tax: At the very least this is causing some argie seethe and what appears to be a couple chimpouts, so I guess hosting this shindig was worth it for that and taking europoor money.

Reminds me of the horrible Maradona tenure in the 2010. his approach was purely to give motivational speeches and bank on being high enough to make a good call. Half the technical team was busy making sure he could get high during the matches by strategically covering him from cameras. He was obviously placed there by kuka politics.
Sampaolli was similar, he didn't have clue and couldn't hold the team together. It's a shame they wasted prime Messi, DiMaria, Mascherano and many greats.
