I think the fascinating thing in this story is how it's being received within and outside of furry Twitter. Inside furry Twitter he is stunning and brave and overcoming obstacles, outside the fandom people are seeing this for what it is. There were
multiple /pol/ threads taking the piss out of him and his story, which is up there with "I was browsing the internet and my pants slipped" in terms of plausibility. Even outside of the furry community on Twitter, people took the piss out of it including even
e-celebs like Mister Metokur and one search shows the contrast between furries and the rest of the world.

Others saw
his bondage photos, and took guesses that it was part of a sex act gone wrong.

They knew that using dry ice to treat pain is even dumber than using gasoline to start campfires, and
to add to this a news story from 2006 talked about amputee fetishists using dry ice to get amputated by leaving their body parts in dry ice for hours.
Furries didn't ask questions, they decided to listen and believe while
yelling at 4channers saying it's not true. To them a furry amputating himself is stunning and brave, while the outside world continues to laugh at furries. In other words it's just another day in the fandom.
