i very much think this is a matter of ego
furry con, and one of the most popular things as of recent is a non furry cosplayer? yeah that likely upsets them a lot

Typical furries forcing their depraved shit into everyone else's business. Look, a fursuit doing >insert normal activity< OwO!! Make a YouTube video! Aren't we just the bestest fandom!?
this is the kinda thing that's fun and charming exactly the first time it ever happens, after which it becomes a mandatory ritualistic display of forced wholesomeness

I thought I’d check in on Fur The More happening this March because it’s a convention that seems to have had a pretty rough couple of years. I’ve written about it a few times over the years, but the TL;DR is that they’ve made one dumb rule after another and have been rapidly hemorrhaging attendees over the last four years. On top of that, for an event that typically attracts about 1,000 attendees each year, their social media engagement rates are embarrassingly low.

Not only are they still planning a 2025 event, but they’ve even managed to secure a new venue: the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport. My initial thought was, "Good for them—maybe they’ve learned from their mistakes." Then I looked into the hotel.

I'll just say it: I think the location is a poor choice for a convention because they overlooked one of the most important rules when selecting a venue—you want other restaurants nearby. The only thing within reasonable walking distance is a Sheetz convenience store, and that's still about a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

To their credit, they seem to be aware of this issue and are offering attendees an optional meal plan add-on with registration. However, I’m not sure how many furries will be willing to pay $125 for only four meals at a hotel restaurant.

Will they be able to pull themselves up, or will the event fizzle out into nothing? I guess we’ll have to wait and see once March comes around.

The rumours that I'd heard is that their relationship with the hotel they'd been at for the past few years turned incredibly toxic and they were looking at a room rate spike that was absurd. I'd also heard that the Dulles Hilton is the only hotel that would entertain hosting them. Certainly does not bode well for their continued existence if they've potentially been blacklisted in the DC/NoVA area.

Furry conventions and their fleeting relationships with hotels are fascinating. They're not the only group to leave hotels in a sorry state afterwards but they must be consistently terrible and one has to wonder the horrors they leave in their wake that haven't been documented. Any hotel cleaning staff must have seen the worst shite imaginable.

Finding a con venue worse than MFF's is an achievement. At least the parking is only $10/day.

The (what appeared to be) dealer den lead was some crotchety old fuck walking around on a cane yelling about masks a lot. It's always the """"immunocompromised"""" people who insist on managing a large crowded room for three days in a row.

They are, in fact, better behaved than a lot of business conventions, at least from what I've been told. Rainfurrest was an outlier (and a conspiracy!) and all these other cons seem to be able to keep their annual contracts. There's self-awareness amongst the older crowd about image and not bothering the housekeeping, so tend to clean up the rooms they've done parties in.

American furries in general are also incredibly pedantic over 21+ ID checks at their room parties, and will insist even if you look like Mitch McConnell, so it's a little tricky for the average dipshit to get fuckup drunk on accident.

The true reason those women, in the hallway fight, outside the Adventurecru Party, weren't allowed into the party, was because they were the only ones with "real pussies", and trannies get overly jealous of "natural women", henceforth they didn't allow them to their sausagefest of a room party.

With the noise of all the planes taking off and landing nearby, the fursuit dance party and raves are going to be a disaster. Even the panels would probably be interrupted constantly by the noise.
