They're just doubling down even further in the replies:

That last one caught my eye though, because holy shit, why are you actively antagonizing your userbase:

At one point in my employment history, I had access to our company's Twitter account to make promotional tweets. I guarantee that if my job caught me making similar tweets on their accounts, they would have had enough reason to fire me.

The most disrespectful thing to do on any business/organization account is to spit bile at your potential customers. When people are willing to give their hard-earned money for something that excites them, the last thing any decent person would do is spit in their faces. Whoever is running ANE's social media comes off as less of a community manager and more as a community antagonizer.

Look no further: the one in charge is Remy, the ultra-progressive pooner con chair of ANE and just overall snide person when not putting up a friendly facade.

This has been happening over and over since Twitter's inception and it's hilarious to me how many dumbass companies and orgs still don't understand this.

The best part is that surprised Pikachu face when it all blows up in their faces. I'm just gonna smile to myself and reminisce on all those antagonistic posts Volition made right up until their Saints Row reboot murdered the franchise and led to their shutdown.

This is such a fantastically bad idea on their part. They're obviously farming for Twitter likes, but those likes are not going to translate into additional attendance to their con. The only effect this could possibly have is less people showing up. They are digging their own grave and you love to see it.

I had to go back and look at that third tweet by the con chair because I needed context as to why he was being such an asshole to this dude. For context, here is the original tweet by that Razz guy in reply to ANE's vax tweet:

And here's a bunch of random furries inexplicably being a huge piece of shit to him in response:

And the literal fucking chairman of ANE decides to "dunk" on him and smugly tells him in no uncertain terms to get fucked.

There are not enough lunacy stickers for these replies. But I'll tell you one thing: Remy has done far more damage to ANE with this exchange than any of the previous tweets about Vax did. Carrying on like a smug asshole in public and quote-tweeting someone who disagreed with you in the hopes your followers would harass said person (and they technically didn't even say anything negative about your event in the first place) makes you look untrustworthy and unreliable. I can't speak for all Kiwis, but if I had any association with ANE or was friends with any of the people running it, I'd feel like I had to be watching my back all the time, fearful of whatever the hell they might say or do next and hoping I won't get caught in the crossfire.

This feeling translates to attendees as well. I've only known of Remy's existence for a few hours now, but there's no way in hell I'd ever go anywhere near ANE now that I know this asshole is in charge. I simply don't believe they're stable enough and/or respect their attendees, and therefore I wouldn't want to invest any time or effort into going (be it actual money for a hotel room or using a few vacation days to attend) for fear of what "radical" action they could take at any time.

Rate me MATI, but fucking hell. Remy, if you somehow end up reading this: I think you're a fucked up individual with some serious anger management and ego issues. Whoever works with you at ANE should insist you stay out of the public limelight permanently. You're simply an embarrassment to your event, let alone yourself.

How does one go about conducting themselves this way in a professional capacity after nearly four decades? Even the most snide HR assholes on LinkedIn have an etiquette to them that they follow. This is just… laughable.

New England progressive leftism. From what the Animal Control Kiwis that pointed out when I posted the COVID vaxx requirements after Remy first announced then back in July, ANE is a very "cliquey" convention. It seems even one or two here may know more about Remy than we're aware, and I'm inclined to believe such given how much of a snob they are.

(I do wonder if there'd be enough info to make a cow thread on a damned furry convention chairperson. Maybe after ANE concludes and some dumb shit happens under their watch...)

EDIT: Holy shit, Remy is still at it this morning. The condescension at the unvaxxed purebloods oozes!

It’s a shame New England is New England. Having grown up there, I’m all too aware of the politics of its people, so while I’d love to attend ANE just as an excuse to come home and visit my family on the side, the moral and political character of people who run these cons and gatherings is sadly unsurprising.

Sorry to agree they're justified because furries are fucking biohazards.

If they're only checking vaccine cards from over a year ago however it's definitely just a virtue signal. The long term efficacy is absolute shit.

and most of them spent in tight ecochambers where people slurp on his ass for every right move and beat him with a stick for every wrong word said
if you can pavlov a dog you can pavlov a human, and i'd argue a furry is somewhere in between

I'm going to argue this is a dumb take for three reasons:
  1. A Covid vaccine WILL minimize some of the symptoms if you catch Covid. I agree with that part completely. I managed to catch Covid twice myself (once before I had a vaccination and once after), and I can personally vouch that it was way less bad the second time around. A Covid vaccine WILL NOT do anything regarding the risk and/or spread of infection rate. It's been repeatedly stated in numerous research papers at this point that the risk of catching it remains unchanged (at absolute best, being fully vaxed and boosted will make you maybe 0.5%-1% less likely to catch it). A person with no vaccination is just as likely to catch it as someone with all their boosters. Given that, it makes me question why a mandatory vaccination is even important in the first place since the only people who would be putting themselves in harm's way would be the people unvaccinated, and they'd only be hurting themselves.

  2. Let's just pretend for a minute that if you got vaccinated right this second, it magically made you 100% immune to catching and/or spreading it. The bigger problem is how you are going to prove you got the vax now. Most furcons have used the CDC vaccination card post-covid as proof, except now that's not a feasible option anymore. The CDC stopped printing and distributing the cards in October 2023, and most pharmacies have explicitly told their staff that they are not to update people's cards if they get a booster anymore. If you just recently got vaccinated and/or accidentally lost your card, you're not going to be able to get a new card, therefore no proof.

For me personally, it's not the issue of requiring a vaccination that bothers me, it's the extra difficulty in providing proof. And yes, I know I could call up my doctor's office and ask them for a copy of my vaccination records, but think about it: Do you honestly think that should be necessary just for the privilege to hang out in a hotel lobby with a bunch of mascot suits? The requirement for proof is now becoming a bigger barrier, hindering even those who are properly vaccinated. That, and the incredibly unprofessional behavior of the ANE staff antagonizing and alienating their potential attendees for Twitter likes isn't helping the situation.

  3. There's absolutely a correlation between people who got sick with covid at furcons and people who were bragging about sucking 37 dicks while they were there. Makes you think.

Don't want to make this into another vax spergfest, but surely you've gotta see how that would have to do with natural immunity from having it the first time around, right? This could have been the difference with or without the pseudo vax and you will never know.

on one hand, thinning the herd a little might make for a genuine better convention, events with less people are always more pleasant

on the other hand, i dont know if "furries who are up to date on their covid boosters" is an exclusive crowd i would wanna fill a con with and then sit in...
I don't know any furfaggots but I've been working with a lot of convention organizers recently. A big part of running cons is making vendors happy. Vendors are paying up to 1k or more to have a booth at your con. If you fuck up and have low attendance, either through lack of advertising, or political sperging, you will never see those vendors again, and word of mouth will travel, killing your event.

Up on their coof boosters but somehow not on their condom supply despite being HIV+.

Condoms cost money they could otherwise be putting into porn commissions and attending conventions. The boosters were free.

PL: I fucked up and had low attendance with vendors I'd personally invited, through lack of advertising. The event still goes strong to this day. I still consider the con I helped to run the exception rather than the rule, though.
