I played it when it first came out and a couple of years later. It always felt half thought and incomplete.

Whats that mod like? I've yet to try any.playing the MV mod trying to get to the nexus, just realized just realized everyone else just cheats their way through everything. i was led to believe i could crew kill the fucker only to find out that was a lie. i'm somehow supposed to have proper weapons set up too despite Hekar selling the worst weapons. its all fucking rigged man
its amazing, they added roughly 10x the content. it makes the original feel like a demo, so much content has been added that its almost shocking that they didn't try and negotiate it as a sequel paid title. the original is so lifeless whereas this has so many new races and items and tactics, shit like teleporting and drones aren't completely fucking useless now.Whats that mod like? hacking was the worst addition to the game, ever since the flagship will always have three systems to prioritize when you engage, engines, shields and cloaking and all versions of it has hacking so yeah... good luck dodging the drone swarm or the plasma wave with 5% chance even if you are cloaked.Something I always remember about FTL is that at one point they did that advanced edition update to add a bunch of new shit (like the cloning chamber and hacking) And all that update did was make the game harder because it deluded the pool of weapons and especially events you would get to give you garbage, making the game extremely hard. Reminds me of Ballionaire in recent times where the meta is to never unlocked any new tiles since all the tile do is give you inferior content to the base starting stuff.
100% stolen code, do you even get broken equipment or you just straight up lose it? if the latter then it's pretty gay as starting from the ground up is more punishing, because on FTL even green skills still had worth if you lost your golden bois, plus you could always grind the skills if you forgot the ship about it once your were well kitted out and the pursuing rebel didn't generate with a torpedo or flak.Just wasted two days straight playing Void War, a Chinese clone of FTL. Permadeath roguelikes with randomised loot are too much for me. FTL Multiverse was a big problem for me too.
As for Void War itself, it's pretty much a offbrand-40k reskin of FTL. I wouldn't be surprised if they stole the code, it's that identical. Still, they removed crew experience but replaced it with assignable crew equipment, so instead of feeling frustrated when "my" crew died, I felt frustrated with losing their equipment.
It's not a bad game/unofficial expansion, I'm just frustrated I have to spend this weekend catching up on work instead of having actual fun.
I can tell you it’s not stolen code solely based on them forgetting to include oxygen equalization. You can open doors to drain O2 out an airlock, but opening doors won’t do anything to help replenish an empty room. It’s one of the only gripes that I have with the game mechanically, as most other differences are a net improvement over FTL.100% stolen code, do you even get broken equipment or you just straight up lose it? if the latter then it's pretty gay as starting from the ground up is more punishing, because on FTL even green skills still had worth if you lost your golden bois, plus you could always grind the skills if you forgot the ship about it once your were well kitted out and the pursuing rebel didn't generate with a torpedo or flak.
I almost didn't bother with Oxygen at all on Interdictor B run. I somehow ended up with 7 commandos, the roughneck and a few suffocation immunity items.I can tell you it’s not stolen code solely based on them forgetting to include oxygen equalization. Thanks for this post, I’ve been wishing for a FTL sequel for a while now and this is a nice clone. It’s not perfectly balanced and it’s not 1:1 with FTL but there are a bunch of fun, unique playstyles available. With certain modules, there are builds that can melt everything besides the boss with the opening salvo. I’ve been having fun with boarding party builds and psyker abilities. I just wish there was a decent wiki to look up what everything does, exactly.Just wasted two days straight playing Void War, a Chinese clone of FTL. And here I was, thinking the module that makes lance shots fully charge another weapon was OP.besides the boss...
If you have two Demon Lance modules, you can easily one shot the boss.
Add up all the the crew, husks/thralls, summons and enemy boarders on your ship.
Double it and add it to the regular lance damage.

When I did it I didn't have the Wrath of Angel 100% lance hit mod, so I just mind controlled the enemy pilot to reduce evasion.
I had far more effective crew because I prioritised death cult sectors and so had lots of necromancers each summoning multiple ghouls.
I had two lances so I didn't actually need to hit.
If you really want to optimise it though, you could use chaotic rift to teleport enemy onto your ship, as they add damage to lances too.
