I get that everyone has their political views but surely this is at least partially a commentary on how far (or alt) right/nationalist movements are being viewed abroad, right? I mean didn't a similar thing happen in the Netherlands?

And Austria. And Merkel's CDU party just won a regional election.

well treated by Soviet standards
lol

I'm seeing a country with a culture that has a pretty much open disdain for Islam and has faced a pretty stunning barage of terror attacks from islamic extremists still reject the far right nationalist candidate.

You got that right. A lot of the old guard of the National Front was made of people with "dubious" pasts (Vichy France high-ranking members, members of the OAS, etc. Le Pen father himself is a negationist and boasts about how he tortured people during the Algerian Independance War). Besides, we see how things are when the far-right is in power (Nazis notwithstanding). Hungary and, to a lesser extent, Poland, are turning into police-ish states. So far, it's only the press that gets muzzled, but who know how things will end up.

Europeans thinks kebabs are a problem, but they think getting laid off because you don't suck up to the government is a bigger problem.

Le Pen would have been funny for all the drama, but Macaroni is probably better as an actual leader of a country. But as I don't live in France I really don't care who runs the so-called country, and the French can go fuck themselves up the ass with a baguette because they are a bunch of lazy fucking useless cunts.

Edit: damn that salt level was critical. I apologize to all the frenchies.

So apparently Le Pen is up to some shit...

Hillary Clinton after losing drowned her sorrows in alcohol and had to be held down by her staff while blubbering about how it was "THE FUCKING RUSSIANS!!!"...but Le Pen dances the night away despite her loss.

Methinks there is a revolution underway...

Le Pen wasn't really expecting to win though so there's less disappointment for her compared to Hillary.

Macron has no backbone, his track record in backflips and position changes is almost equal to that of Hollande. Although Le pen lost this time, she will be back and with every election the french people will be more frustrated with the establishment and eventually she will win. The senatorial elections are soon anyway so she still may have a chance to have some level of power.

Clinton was told she had a 99.9% chance of winning, Le Pen was told "lol not gonna happen". Those are pretty expected reactions.

Hillary had another collapsing fit when she lost. That's why they send the errand boy Podesta out to tell all the loyal Hillarybots to GTFO.

I utterly adore France, I love it to death, but anyone who thinks that the French have the good sense of the British is a very optimistic person.

Brexit was one thing, detaching a country that does not have the Euro from the EU is not TOO difficult (Though I expect a long and difficult road due to the Drunk Cunt Juncker). In France Le Pen was talking about replacing the Euro and THEN voting to leave the EU. To me, such a position is too radical for most voters, and extracting a country from the Eurozone AND the EU in a matter of a decade is a momentously difficult task.

The only thing that was truly dreadful about the French result was that there was no supreme chimpout from a Le Pen victory.

The same thing has been said about the Front National in every round of French elections I can remember for the last 25 years.

Voting for the fascists looks a different proposition when you live in one of the countries that within living memory was invaded by or attacked by the fascists.* There will always be some 'disaffected' numpties, but at this point in time, the majority of people in European nations will still say "Aye... but naw" at the ballot box.

The utter collapse of the BNP-lite UKIP and its pound shop Enoch Powells in this round of elections is an illustration of the phenomenon.

*Anschluss was genuinely popular in Austria. Also Austria never underwent the systematic process of de-Nazification that was undertaken in West Germany, therefore leaving a very unpleasant nest of bastards as the elite of Austrian society for many decades after the war. Occasionally they forget where they are and think about being Nazis again, but then they rein it back.

I don't think she has even the slightest chance to get a seat in the Senate. The best she can hope for are a few seats in the Parliament, and even then it'll be really difficult for her because all the other parties will forge alliances to fuck her over. Publicly supporting her party is a political suicide, and they know it.

Wait, who are you referring to?

Probably something along the lines that Le Pen is actually more "liberal" in the US sense of supporting big government initiatives like welfare programs than Macarena is. Or so I've seen claimed in a few comment sections, no clue if that is an actual fact.
