The key point that these arguments seem to keep missing is that the "healthcare spending annually" number that keeps getting thrown around is the current total for all spending, private and public. When you shift all of that onto the taxpayer whether or not they like it it's a different ballgame. Graboyes makes a good point here:

“In individual states like California and Vermont, similar single-payer healthcare plans tanked because increasing taxes was too much of a gamble,”

Until people start floating numbers for how much it'll take out of the average middle-class american's income the argument that "well it doesn't cost much more" falls flat on it's face. Get back to me when you have hard numbers for how much dough you're going to bilk out of the people who are the beating heart of this country's economy. I've even seen it estimated as high as ten grand out of people's pockets, which is fucking unacceptable.

When I say "it's going to bankrupt america" I'm not talking about the federal fucking reserve or the national debt. I'm talking about the people who still own guns.

I do agree with you on Obamacare being a half-measure that didn't fix anything though. You're still a hypocrite and a petty commie tard, but a broken clock is right twice a day.

Personally, I think America could work with a hybrid system of sorts. I'm thinking the ideal would be to have a public option for all citizens and legal permanent residents but if you can buy private insurance, you can opt out and go for it. It'd be a way for people who like their plan to keep it but those who can't afford health insurance can get coverage, albeit it won't be as good as private insurance due to the basic logistics of government programs in a country as large as ours.

Going full-on commie won't fix anything though, and would probably make things worse. Especially since communism is completely incompatible with liberal democracy and civil liberties.

But I'm just an evil centrist liberal fash, so what do I know?
