Only sounds like a testing the waters move but another engine manufacturer would be a good thing.

I wouldn't mind more engine suppliers, possibly even race teams.
As long as we don't end up with pre-qualifyings, it's all nice and dandy... and even then, maybe pre-qualifyings would act as an inceptive for the slower teams to improve instead of being contend with following the pack, like Haas is doing this season.

Been hearing this every year since 2014 at least, I'll believe it when I see it.

Anyway the main reason I'm here, Igora Drive the soon to be new home of the Russian GP is getting an extension to around 5km and it's the first time I've been excited about a track announcement since Malaysia 1999. The final sector is now a 17m hill and 4 turns with a 12% gradient up and down into a hair pin into a 8% gradient drag race to the finish line.

So let me get this straight.
Socchi, arguably the worst track on the entire calender, the most boring, bland and uninteresting race, that (despite DRS, I might ad) has gone entire races without a single overtake...

...is going to be replaced by a track that looks like something I would have built in Rollercoaster Tycoon?
Best. Fucking. Timeline.

Happy to coast on having an untouchable car but is feeling it now.

Shows how much merc dominance has been (and shoots more holes in the "goat" claims).
Breaking News: World reknown racecar driver does bare minimum required to perform his job.

[Edit]
Max saying it like it is:
Though the thumbnail is quite misleading. Max said they had no competiton in the last 2 years, not that they have never been challenged.

As if Russell's short stint in Bahrain hasn't proved enough already. Yeah Hamilton is a great driver. But the GOAT? No.

Oh and Porsche joins the Powerunti talk. Oh yes. who doesn't remember Porsche's last attempt at F1.

It sucked

Apparently, they want to make the car pop out more, hopefully by making the green a bit brighter.

I am still in favor of a livery that takes more after their classic Aston Martin livery.

I want to see the number on the car in black stencil font in a huge white circle on a jade-green car. That would look baller.

Speaking of baller:

Think of Ferrari as a team as you will, that is pretty awesome.

Interesting to see Guanyu Zhou driving at FP1 for Alpine. IIRC, he's currently 1st place in F2, a sign that he might take Alonso's ride for next season?
It really depends on how much chinese microdick Alpine is willing to suck in exchange for that sweet, sweet forced-labour-camp-generated-yuan dosh.
It would be quite a shame for Alonso, if he was thrust out of F1 after one season without anywhere to go... but to be honest, he had his shot at F1 a long time ago and it would be better to see new people instead of the umpteenth meandering "comeback" that ultimately means a driver is stuck somewhere in the midfield.

All that being said, if there's a chinese driver, I just hope they don't add their brand of "Yes Xi Jinping, fuck my human rights harder! Social Credit FTW!!!"-propaganda into F1.
We've already got a mouthful with this BLM crap.

Hambone has allegedly signed with Mercedes for another 2 years.

I can't find anything to back up this tweet from some random F1 "journalist", so make of it what you will.
Dude is aiming for an entire decade of titles... let's just hope RB thwarts that ambition.
The worst thing resulting from yet more years of Mercedes' car dominating would be piss-weak podium fights. In that regard, me becoming a Vettel-fan in 2020 has the benefit of not giving much of a shit about what's happening in the front as long as it's just Hamilton going in merry circles in the best car the grid has to offer by far. Meanwhile I root for Vettel to churn out a decent race in the midfield.

I guess if Bottas also get's a 2 year we know why...
Would Bottas want to subject himself to M-B's bullshit for another two years, though? If not, who's going to be Hambone's bottom bitch? I can't see George going to M-B while Hambone is still top dog.

"You get a 2 year contract as Hambone's personal manservant, if you don't follow our rules and play second fiddle like we tell you to, we will terminate your contract (and good luck finding a new cockpit)... but if you do suck up to lewlew, we will make you our top bitch 2024 onward."

But it will be telling if Bottas will receive a 2 year contract as well.
I just wonder if Hamilton will get his other wishes granted - such as being a brand ambassador, being allowed to install his precious POCs in every level of Mercedes structure and so on.

Who's gonna take him? there's not many open seats for next year, excluding red bull's 2 teams there is his current seat, 2 Williams, 2 Sauber and if Aston Martin drop him Stroll's.

If it's a choice between working in a toxic environment for the next two years or quitting and taking the risk of missing out on an F1 seat next year, that could be a very tough choice. That said, perhaps a move to IndyCar for a couple of years until Hambone fucks off into the sunset could be good for Bottas; it wouldn't be the first time an F1 driver has gone to IndyCar and then returned to F1. It could also do a lot of good for Bottas' mental health.
