Could have been much worse. Although it's kinda painful to think that Stroll was on his way into the pits for a tyre change. If only that left rear tyre could've held on for another 30 seconds...

Do we really buy the "perez is struggling and under pressure" line or is it more a case of letting Max have some breathing room while making sure to keep Hamilton behind.

Mercedes have once again totally screwed Bottas.

Assuming Checo can hold off Hambone, that's at least a small consolation.

Or not... now the red flag has come out. Will they bother restarting for just 3 laps?

Edit: If the race is stopped, a countback would result in Max finishing 1st. Fingers crossed! Whilst I'd love to see Seb on the podium, I'd much prefer to see Max increase his WDC points lead over Hambone.
 
Oh and now change all the settings and bits on Hamilton's car time make sure he wins...

Come on Perez, take out Hamilton on the restart to make sure he doesn't gain points on Vestappen plus a Vettel win.

Assuming there's a restart, I can see Checo going for broke and just sending it because he won't be subject to team orders. If that happens, Hambone may just have to suck up a second place.

As for the tyre situation, Pirelli has a lot of explaining to do...
 
A restart is an utter farce and travesty. Fuck this shit.
At least they allowed/forced everyone to change tyres, RB said the rear tyre blew without even a tiny indication of something being wrong. That's insanely scary.

Both Stroll's and Verstappen's crashes could have ended so much worse if they had bounced across the track and gotten T-boned and FIA wants to restart for what is essentially one last lap? This reeks of political fuckery, either so Hamlam can get another free chance to pass Checo or cause whatever asshole is president of Aserbaijan demands a dramatic finish under race conditions. Fankly, every team should protest this decision and demand that the situation at the moment of the red flag is treated as the correct finish of this race, no matter what happens after the restart. And if during this restart anything happens, heads should roll within the Marshal team.


And it's such a shame, Verstappen might have had a good race, but Stroll fought his way to the top 5. What great performance from him and AM. Vettel had great starts at the beginning and after the safety car and the AM strategy worked wonderfully. Absolutely amazing from him and his engineers.

This might be the cope talking, but I can still see Checo holding Hambone off and taking the win.

Speaking of cope ... "it's a marathon, not a sprint". Yeah, Hambone knows that Checo and Seb won't let him have it his own way for those two remaining laps.
 
Well Vettel is behind Hamilton so maybe we get "Execute Order Spinalla" But yeah Hamilton is the luckiest driver I have ever seen. Vettel in his high time was quiet lucky but Hamilton tops that easy. The only year where Hamilton was unlucky was 2016.
