Hey, that sucks. I had to work today and am just now about to watch the practices via torrents I downloaded. But, I just went to the Overtakefans site now, copied the AceStream and it is now replaying a practice session.
I'll need to experiment with AceStream, just in case f1livegp.me gets BTFOed by Formula 1. Thanks again for that, @Simple Moving Average. You're a king amongst men.

The OTfans AceStream is running fine. It started in French audio but when I checked the audio options, found that it has 6 different audio streams! Here is the AC ID:

Now works on my end, too. Pretty fucking sweet. It even got the German commentary on Track 6.

Edit: German commentary just mentioned that Russel will leave Williams by the end of this season, it's not confirmed yet, but it seems that he might switch to Mercedes.
If that's the case, we just learned what exactly the roadblock in the Hamilton-contract odyssey was.

Well both his and Bottas' contacts are up but so is Hamilton's and I can't see Hamilton agreeing to have Russell as a team mate. The sticking point last season was apparently Lewis wanting a veto over future teammates while Daimler Mercades are all in wanting Russell to drive for them next season. I imagine they'll keep Bottas and Hamilton and use their links in other teams to get Russell a better drive rather than risk binning Hamilton since the other owners still love the Hambone.

As much as I want Hamilton out I really hope they sign him for next season. With the huge rules changes anyone could come out as most dominant. If Hamilton leaves and mercades aren't the all winning superpower anymore the Hambone super fans will get even more obnoxious about how he was what made that team good.

I dunno, seeing Hamilton getting his shit kicked in by other drivers with a similarly powerful car would be fun, but I'd still prefer a quick exit of the insufferable phony-SJW. If he gets humbled, I want that to happen this season and him leaving next.

Also, Ferrari seem to have left last season's slump and doing pretty good, but Aston Martin has not yet done anything impressive. One can only hope AM is not yet driving their Qualifying/Racing specs, cause otherwise it would be rather sad.

Just finished watching the first 3 sessions. Its definitely a bit unclear still, but if AT does well in Q, then the Honda engine may just be better than the Merc. Max's lap in P3 was quite quick.

All questions will be semi-answered soon I guess! Let's hope we have some good surprises!

Also on the Ace stream. I think sometimes when it gets stuck buffering, it could be possible that they generate a new ID to fix whatever went wrong. So, if having problems, check the OT page with the ID and see if there is a new one. The webpage streams definitely don't work. I tried all 4 of them in Chrome and FF and none worked.

The AceStream is working now, I am still watching the Sportsurge stream and the Discord one is working too. So, covered I think.

I forgot to change my picks, but not sure I would have anyway, first race, see what happens.

Damn, the times are tight! Russell is in 13th and .8 behind P1. Other than the Haas, all 9 teams are within .8!

Yeah, only P1, but that's great to see. Can it pan out like that over the entire season, I am sure we all would want that!

I can feel the excuses from Vettel fanboys come flying in as I type this
I really hope he'll find his footing with the new team, but so far it's not looking good.
Though Mazepin's spin certainly didn't help.

Edit: Damn, Sainz and Leclerc are 0.001s apart. That's some pretty good driving, I wonder if them being so evenly matched will cause issues, neither want to play second fiddle to the other I assume.

That's some impressive 1 lap pace. Let's hope it translates into long run pace though.

Of course Reddit is pissed about Mazepin. He could use the entirety of his dad's money buying every black person in America a large house in the suburbs, full scholarships to the most prestigious schools and all their medical costs for life and Reddit would still shout that he wasn't giving them bigger houses and so he's Hitler. Once the woke put someone on the naughty list everything they ever do they must be vilified for it.

Marzipan will be the gift that keeps on giving. I can't believe people are complaining about over taking on an outlap, you are technically allowed to overtake on a formation lap.

Absolutely, I've never heard this "you're not allowed to overtake during an outlap" nonsense ever before. It might be a guideline, but going against it is not such a big deal - it's common courtesy at best to not overtake.
Though, when you overtake someone on your outlap at the starting straight and then spin into turn 1 like he did, is pretty fucking embarassing. Vettel has been off-pace in AM so far and I am willing to give him some leeway since it's a new car, a new team and he hadn't much time to get used to either in between seasons, but it's not like he was putting out absolutely stellar performance before Mazepin ruined his second attempt to get to Q2. Maybe this helped him save face cause who knows if he could have gotten past Q1 to begin with.
I think he's a top 10 driver and hope he'll be stronger a few races into the season, but this is a very rough start.

Also, for what it's worth, if this guy is talking about the same interview I saw, then Vettel was pretty calm about everything. He did point out that the yellow flags ruined his lap, but he was far from being "livid", it's just salt from Mazepin haters desperately trying to make him the boogeyman of modern F1. Mazepin is a rookie and he made several rookie mistakes, but there have been far more accomplished drivers doing far more idiotic shit, especially during a race.

If you want more Mazepin salt, check out comments for this video:

I can't believe Crofty and the boys actually called Mazepin "Mazespin" on live tv, that shit really cracked me up.

But yeah, let's go Max getting on pole in qualifying, good shit...and quite a bit of a gap between his and Hamilton's time. I'm a big verstappen fan but his win in Abu Dhabi was pretty boring, let's hope for a good race.

Couple of articles of interest for your morning tea while you get ready for what is shaping up to be a great race.

Mercedes also ‘losing a bit on the engine side’ to Honda – Wolff

27th March 2021, 20:13 | Written by Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has admitted their deficit to Red Bull is down to more than just aerodynamics.

Max Verstappen beat Lewis Hamilton to pole position in Bahrain by almost four tenths of a second. Changes to the technical regulations for the 2021 F1 season has left Mercedes trying to recover lost rear downforce.

However Wolff said their cars are also losing out to their Honda-powered rivals on the straights. The M12 power unit is not storing enough energy to be able to fully deploy electrical power when required.

“We’re losing a little bit on the engine side in terms of derates,” said Wolff. “We are not yet in a happy place with our energy recovery. But it’s not one single point where we could say this is a big gap.”

Honda has made gains with its power unit during the off-season, which AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost believes is now almost a match for Mercedes.

“Honda has done a great job,” said Wolff. “They have delivered a power unit that is extremely competitive – look at where AlphaTauri is – and we just have to take it as sportsmen. This is as it looks. You just have to say, well, they’ve done a really good job, full stop.

“But there’s just no other solution than to recover. And I believe that on the derates that you see just this is something we just need to get on top of. That is not easy, but we’ll get there.”

Analysis: F1 field closes up as Mercedes lose two seconds in four months

Posted on27th March 2021, 22:11 | Written by Keith Collantine

The scale of the challenge Formula 1’s dominant team of the past seven season is now facing was revealed in qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Just four months on from Lewis Hamilton’s11th victory of last season at the desert track, Mercedes’ latest car lapped over two seconds slower than its predecessor in qualifying.

New rules introduced by Formula 1 to reduce downforce have clearly had the intended effect. With one exception – Ferrari – every car in the field is at least a second slower than last year.

Suspicions that the changes to the rear of the car have particularly affected those teams with low-rake designs is borne out by the performance swings at Mercedes and Aston Martin. The latter adopted their power unit supplier’s low-rake aerodynamic philosophy last year, and both are over two seconds per lap slower than they were in 2020.

Only Haas, who used none of their development ‘tokens’ in producing their mildly revised car for 2021, have got slower than that. With just one update planned for the VF-21 at the next race, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin look set to spend the season on the back row.

The most encouraging performance of the day came from Ferrari, whose best lap time was half a second off what they managed last year. That was easily the best of any team and an indication they have indeed made the promised gains with their power unit.

Having been the third-quickest team in qualifying, they are one of four teams within a second of pace-setters Red Bull. This is a startlingly different picture to what we saw in November, when Red Bull was the only team within a second of Mercedes, and is an encouraging pointer towards a much more competitive season ahead.
