Or, if you believe the sort of dribbling crap which David Croft is prone to spewing out, Perez is no longer relevant and is retired from racing forever because he does not have a drive in Formula 1 next season therefore career over.
Although, given Perez has made statements that he's only interested in being in F1, that's not completely retarded until he gets desperate for attention I suppose.
Dude's still got at least 3 years left to come back, assuming he stays fit and does some racing while he waits for his return shot. If Robert Kubica managed to make a year's comeback after his accident and being out of F1 for so long, somebody with even better backing than him won't have to wait as long.

Frank Williams has been taken to hospital ans is said to be stable.

Mazepin loses court battle over failed attempt to buy Force India

By: Adam Cooper
Dec 15, 2020, 7:41 PM

The case brought by Dmitry Mazepin’s company Uralkali against the administrators of the Force India Formula 1 team in the High Court in London has been dismissed.

However the Russian chemical company has not given up its claims, and says it will seek to appeal the judgement.
Load audio player
Mazepin, father of future Haas F1 team racer Nikita, was one of several parties in the running to buy Force India when the team went into administration in July 2018, and he put in what he believed to be the highest bid.

With the clock ticking and complications due to the claims of Indian banks against owner Dr Vijay Mallya the process eventually morphed from Plan A, a sale of the shares of the original Force India company, into Plan B, a sale of the assets of the team.
The assets were eventually sold to the Racing Point consortium led by Lawrence Stroll, and in an unprecedented development a new company was formed to take over the team’s entry and run its cars under the new name, with the full agreement of the FIA and F1.

Having lost out Mazepin subsequently began proceedings via Uralkali against Geoff Rowley and Jason Baker of FRP Advisory, the firm that acted as administrator.

In essence Uralkali’s claim was that the administrators had “failed to conduct a fair and proper sales process.”
More specifically Uralkali claimed that FRP had “negligently misrepresented that they would select the successful bidder on the basis of the most favourable offer” and “negligently misrepresented that the bidding process would be operated on a level playing field as between all bidders.”
In addition Urakali said that FRP “conducted the bid process negligently” and “breached an equitable duty of confidence by disclosing confidential information to Mr Stroll relating to Uralkali's bid.”
The case was heard by Mr Justice Miles in the High Court over seven days in November, and in a lengthy judgement issued on Tuesday he dismissed all of Uralkali’s claims.
Mazepin himself did not appear as a witness, and Uralkali was represented by director Paul Ostling. In his judgement Justice Miles made it clear that the key player’s failure to appear in person had not helped Uralkali’s case.
In a statement issued in response to the judgement Uralkali said it will continue to pursue its claims.
The company noted: “Although Uralkali is disappointed with the decision of the trial court, it is pleased that the trial confirmed a number of its prior statements, including the fact that Uralkali’s bid for the assets of Force India F1 team was higher than the winning bid.
“Uralkali intends to seek permission to appeal the decision handed down today and to continue to protect its rights in accordance with applicable legal procedures.”
A statement from FRP Advisory given to Motorsport.com welcomed the outcome: “Mr Justice Miles not only dismissed the Uralkali claims in their entirety he also found that Mr Rowley conducted the sales process ‘fairly and properly.’
“The judgement vindicates FRP’s position from the outset, which is that the joint administrators undertook their duties with efficiency and professionalism and engaged with all parties in an entirely even-handed manner.”

Tsunoda in at Alpha Tauri as expected. Kvyat out again.

View attachment 1792115
As sorry as I am for Kvyat, I have to say: He can only blame himself, he got demoted after being a ridiculously aggressive driver, failed to perform in the Torro Rosso and phased out of F1 for some time, got a second chance but still didn't give much of a reason to -for instance- promote him back to Red Bull. His last few races with Alpha Tauri were pretty solid performances, but what can I say, he had 2 chances, that's more than many others can say... hope he'll find a nice niche in some other racing sport (that isn't Formula E)

Kvyat will probably try to get a reserve driver gig. He was the reserve and simulator driver for Ferrari for 2018 after being dropped the first time. Calum Illott has be confirmed as the ferrari test driver for next season so he ain't getting that job. It always seems harsh to oust drivers so late in a season, like everywhere is tied up, though he should have seen that coming and if he relaxed for a second in his Alpha Tauri he has some awful pattern recognition.

I'm other news Alonso not only fastest at the test but faster than either of the Renault drivers managed in qualifying (both ~1.36.4), though usual caveats about track conditions apply.

Basically, 5 more years of Interlagos track, backed by Abu Dhabi money.

Formula 1 announces Sao Paulo’s Interlagos Circuit will host Brazilian Grand Prix until 2025

16 December 2020

Formula 1 can today confirm that Sao Paulo will continue to be home to the Brazilian Grand Prix until 2025. The race will take place on November 14, 2021. The Brazilian GP will be called the Formula 1 Grande Prêmio de São Paulo and will continue to be held at the famous Interlagos Circuit.
There will be a new promoter for the Grand Prix, Brasil Motorsport, a company owned by investment entities controlled by Mubadala, a global investment company from Abu Dhabi. Mubadala has a strong history of investments in diversified industries, and has appointed Alan Adler, a senior executive with relevant experience in the Sports & Entertainment sector, to lead this new partnership with Formula 1.
Chase Carey, Chairman and CEO of Formula 1, said:
“We are pleased to announce the city of São Paulo will continue to host the Brazilian Grand Prix until 2025 and look forward to working with our new promoter in the years ahead. Brazil is a very important market for Formula 1 with devoted fans and a long history in the sport. The race in Brazil has always been a highlight for our fans, the drivers and our partners and we look forward to providing Formula 1 fans with an exciting race at Interlagos in 2021 and over the next five years.”
Mayor of Sao Paul, Bruno Covas, said:
“It is a great joy to be able to announce that Interlagos will continue to host one of the of the most important events in world motorsports. We made a tremendous effort to keep the race in our city. We have robust infrastructure for tourists, public safety and offer top-notch services. We believe that hosting the Grand Prix, in addition to promoting our city to the world, will continue to bring important contributions such as job creation and income generation. We have seen studies that show that for every R$1 invested in the São Paulo GP, R$5.20 is generated for the local economy.”
Alan Adler, Brasil Motorsport, said:
“We are very excited to be able to work with Formula 1. The F1 race has been held in Interlagos since the 1980s, and it is one of the most respected circuits on the calendar. Brazilians are motorsports and speed enthusiasts, and Brazil has a long tradition of producing great drivers, which in turn has created a great legion of F1 fans in our country. I believe that due to our experience working with reputable global brands, we can do a great job at uniting sports, brands, and entertainment. With this, we will be able to provide new experiences for the public, both on and off the tracks.”

Great news. The interlagos track is one of the best, amazing 1st and 2nd corner, another straight with some decent overtaking at the end then some technical twisty sections before some great fast corners onto the pit straight. Had some great grand prix there over the years.

More fuel on the Mazepin fire, the girl now is (not directly) contradicting stuff on Instagram and people are calling for him to be sacked again.

A new Twitter hashtag has been stated as well #WeSayNoToMazepin. And the participants are the usual demographics

If Mazepin survives this I really going to be a fan of his.

I honestly find it funny that people think F1 can have morals.

If Mazepin survives this I really going to be a fan of his.

No real if about it, the amount of money his dad is bringing in is pretty much making him indispensable. We all know Haas struggles for sponsors (energy drink fiasco anyone) so its not like there are any big ones for the mob to force a knee bend. Haas itself isn't a company the usual masses can boycott or go down to and hassle. Haas gets most of its stuff from Ferreri and they aren't going to suddenly stop because a few dangerhairs cried on social media. If they go bugging Steiner or his staff I expect the response would be pretty blunt and not what they want. Basically they're reeing into the void.

As I said earlier its not like their woke black man has some spotless record now is it. He's racked up driving penalties for acting like a cunt on public roads, you don't just meet and date a popular by hanging around the F1 paddock and he fired his own dad as his manager after dad told him to cut it with the super star celebrity act and get on with driving. This is just another case of someone not bending the knee so they go as far as they can to get them cancelled.

This is just another case of someone not bending the knee so they go as far as they can to get them cancelled.
And "going as far as they can to get someone canceled" is, like always, just them writing up a shitstorm on social media without any kind of lasting irl effect, if you just ignore it.
The moment companies realize that the king has no clothes, this rancid mob of shitstains loses its power.

All Mazepin has to say is he's being witchhunted for being Russian and he'll get all the possible support he could ever get from the Russian public. Even if these types start chasing out sponsors of Haas, it just makes Mazepin even more important for the team because oligarch money beats corporate sponsor money.

If this is true, I feel bad for Albon. Dude wasn't particularly good in most races, sure, but being demoted to waterboy? Damn, that's cold.

But hey, on the other hand, Checo is rewarded for his absolutely stellar show of skills this season, so at least's there's that. If this guy loses his F1 cockpit despite his performance, it would be a sad state of affairs.

Red Bull is quite aggressive with their driver changes, but I do bet Albon will be back eventually. He'll just have to refine his craft a bit more since he got thrust into a very tough role very early in his career.

PEREZ REPLACES ALBON AT RED BULL FOR 2021

By Scott Mitchell

Red Bull has signed Sergio Perez to its Formula 1 driver line-up for 2021, with Alex Albon demoted to reserve driver.

Albon has had a disappointing first full season at Red Bull Racing alongside team-mate Max Verstappen.

Verstappen was able to split or fight the Mercedes drivers at times, winning the 70th Anniversary and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix, even with the team’s tricky RB16.

But as the car has improved and Verstappen’s Mercedes-fighting exploits were bolstered, Albon failed to progress – ending the year seventh in the standings with a pair of podium finishes to his name.

Albon’s new reserve role will include a focus on development duties for Formula 1’s 2022 tech rules revamp, with Perez replacing him on a one-year deal.

“Alex is a valued member of the team and we thought long and hard about this decision,” said team principal Christian Horner.

“Having taken our time to evaluate all the relevant data and performances we have decided that Sergio is the right driver to partner Max for 2021 and look forward to welcoming him to Red Bull Racing.

“Alex remains an important part of our team as test and reserve driver with a key focus on 2022 development and we would like to thank him for his hard work and contribution.”

As Albon’s season failed to build momentum, Perez’s went from strength to strength.

The 30-year-old finished fourth in the championship in his best season in F1, which included a breakthrough victory in the Sakhir Grand Prix.

Perez’s stellar form came despite being informed by Racing Point it would activate a get-out clause in his contract for 2021 so the team could sign Sebastian Vettel instead.

With Perez suddenly on the market and out-of-contract Nico Hulkenberg impressing in stand-in appearances for Racing Point when Perez and Lance Stroll had COVID-19, Red Bull had two unexpected, experienced options outside its driver pool to consider.

The prospect of the team hiring an outside driver for the first time since Mark Webber only grew more likely as the season progressed.

Though Albon scored his first F1 podium with a feisty drive at Mugello, where he had to recover from various setbacks, he failed to match Red Bull’s expectation he would build on that result.

Instead, he scored just one point in the four races that followed, including a three-race pointless run after compromising his Eifel Grand Prix with an early error than a needless clash with Daniil Kvyat, failing to recover from a terrible start in Portugal and spinning late in the Emilia Romagna GP at Imola.

Albon briefly moved into victory contention in F1’s chaotic Turkish Grand Prix before spinning, then inherited a second podium finish in Bahrain after a race where he ran up to 40 seconds adrift of Verstappen and was stuck behind Perez until the Racing Point driver had an engine failure.

A miserable second race followed in Bahrain as Albon was knocked out in Q2 and only finished sixth in a grand prix Verstappen and both Mercedes drivers were eliminated from victory contention in, and Perez recovered from being spun to the back on lap one to win.

Albon felt he had made a final-round breakthrough when he posted his closest qualifying performance to Verstappen of the season in Abu Dhabi, even though Lando Norris’s surprisingly fast McLaren beat Albon to fourth on the grid.

In the race, Albon drifted away from the lead fight but while he only finished fourth while Verstappen won, he was at least able to pressure Mercedes to the finish and play a part in the outcome by stopping Verstappen’s rivals splitting their strategies or being able to take a breather.

However, it was not enough to convince Red Bull to keep him on, while Perez beat out Hulkenberg to be first in line to partner Verstappen in Albon’s place.

BUTTON’S McLAREN TEAM ENTERS 2021 DTM

By Valentin Khorounzhiy

Formula 1 2009 world champion Jenson Button’s racing outfit Jenson Team Rocket RJN will take part in the new-look Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters series next year.

The team Button co-owns will enter at least one McLaren 750s GT3 in the DTM, which has been forced to switch to regular GT3 rules after manufacturer exits brought the curtains down on its Class One era.

“I’ve always loved DTM and it’s exciting to see the series evolve into this new chapter with GT3,” Button said.

“I’ve known Gerhard [Berger, series boss] for a long time and I’m sure he will ensure they put on a great show!

“We are all working behind the scenes to make this DTM plan come together and I’m pleased to be able to expand our plans with McLaren.”

Jenson Team Rocket RJN was due to compete in the GT World Challenge Europe international series (having already raced there in the previous year with Honda), but ended up switching to British GT after the COVID-19 interruption to the racing calendar.

It fielded World’s Fastest Gamer winner James Baldwin in a full-time entry he shared with Michael O’Brien, as the pair scored a win and fourth place overall in the standings.

Button himself made a debut British GT appearance with his team in the season finale.

The 15-time F1 race winner largely pivoted to GT racing after the end of his grand prix career, winning the Super GT title in 2018 and even making a DTM appearance a year later in a Super GT/DTM joint race.

The new-look GT3-spec DTM was already going to have McLarens on the grid courtesy of the Bahrain-representing 2 Seas Motorsport, while GruppeM and long-serving DTM squad Abt Sportsline have also announced plans to participate in 2021, with Mercedes and Audi machinery respectively.
