Fucking Australia GP should be held at 8 AM Australian time, so euros can have some chance watching it, I can't bring my ass to wake up at 5 AM even if the race will be mental.
On a related note, it looks like the former Adelaide F1 GP track is back on the menu... for MotoGP in 2027. (A)

Apparently, FIM (which is now owned by Liberty Media) wants to add at least one street circuit to its calendar, and the Victorian Government weren't keen on the Australian MotoGP being moved from Phillip Island to Albert Park. (A)

Meanwhile, one of South Australia's richest businessmen was negotiating with FIM (A) behind closed doors.

There are safety concerns (A) about holding a MotoGP street race, but it seems like FIM/Liberty and the South Australian Government are hell bent on making this happen.

As a bonus, the Australian round of WorldSBK will relocate to The Bend Motorsport Park (A) (located about an hour away from Adelaide) in 2028. I'm sure that has nothing to do with said businessman owning The Bend and being a motorsport fanatic.

TSMT, all desert shitholes and Walmart GPs should be ACKed. We don't need 24 races, 17-18 is enough. It's telling enough, we start in Melbourne because FIA can't hold a race in Bahrain/SA until April because they have fucking Ramadan geeeeg
What was so wrong with this calendar?

I will say that the Saudi Death Dome is an extremely fun track, but we don't need half the schedule being oil money countries and the other half being America.

So they still gonna race in the Middle East now or ?
I'd be shocked if they didn't.

There was that race in Jeddah a few years ago when Houthis bombed some Aramco fuel tanks, smoke from which was visible from the onboard cameras. (just remembered that the Saudis threatened to imprison drivers and teams, by not giving them exit visas, if they decided not to race - don't you love the US' allies?)

Before that they raced in Bahrain when they had their protests. When Force India (or Racing Point) dared mention maybe not doing a race in a dangerous, unstable part of the world (even pulling out of FP2) the FOM punished them by purposefully not showing their cars in qualifying and barely showing them during the race.

unless they judge this thing as more severe idk

Get ready for the F1™ Iron Dome to secure the safety of the beloved sand shithole race tracks.
Why have races on good circuits with heritage in naturally safe locations when you can enjoy the newest Tilke track with a spectacle in the sky?

I'd be shocked if they didn't.
If they didn't bring in a ton of money, of course they wouldn't, but let's not pretend that a significant number of races happening in the Middle East (four if you don't count Azerbaijan, but I say it's five, so 1/6 or better) is a bid to bring some sort of culture to the masses, like how a number of comedians defended their appearances in Riyadh.

I kinda fell out of keeping up with F1 for the last couple years but I'm gonna try and make an effort to Follow this season more closely. I only hope that Hamilton continues to struggle

I only didn’t like Mercedes as an organization but have no hard feelings about Hamilton. I hope he can get his groove back because it’s been kind of sad to see him become such a husk over the last five years of Mercedes and then Ferrari struggling to make a good car.

I feel the same way about Alonzo as well. I thought 2026 would be 2023 for him, but for real this time; instead, he’s got a Newey car (cool) with a busted and rushed Honda engine (not cool) with a shitty teammate (notter cool) and a team owner that thinks he can purchase a constructors championship (nottest cool).

There is a non-zero chance the american media conglomerate that is Liberty Media was not briefed by the DOD and Trump admin on these attacks before hand. Not to say they have any pull but the domino effect this has has already implications wise with f1 is crazy.

Not just in terms of the fans being able to visit the tracks but with Pirelli canceling tire test and the complex logistics setups of f1, theres a chance teams have kit setup for Bahrain a month from now sitting there now that is gonna be stuck there indefinitely if shit gets worse. You have to think that conversation came up with how much of the american media is riding trump and co dick this time around. Especially after the last middle eastern happenings. Even if it was just a get your shit out now sorta conversation.

Tin foil hat obviously. Doesnt really have any actual implications it just is fascinating to think about really.

Apparently a lot of teams' kit is still in Bahrain and the the current chimp out is going to make moving it all to Australia more difficult.

Pirelli wet weather tyre test in Bharain cancelled.

It's a disaster. Imagine having no data on tyres that will never get used...

Who knew that holding major events in a politically unstable region full of hell holes run by absolute spergs would be a bad idea?

> we can't test our wet weather tires in the desert
> because there's no rain?
> no, the missiles

i really do hate f1 sometimes. why do i even bother
