Nascar is like F1/WEC if it were a hickbilly rich kid now, fucking hate it but they're basically equivalent levels of lame now.I have no idea what any of that has to do with 'Europe'. American racing is even more regulated and always has been, with everything sacrificed for 'the show'. BoP, complete spec cars, random safety cars to make everything but the last few laps redundant etc. There is no engineering in American racing in any sense of the word and there hasn't been since arguably CART in the late 90s.
I am close to this opinion.Nascar is like F1/WEC if it were a hickbilly rich kid now, fucking hate it but they're basically equivalent levels of lame now.
My biggest problem with F1 as someone who sort of peaced out from it for half a decade was that the FIA is so up its own ass in every way that the fart noise coming out of their mouth drowns out the very existence of the sport as the engineer team + driver combination that makes it interesting in the first place. All this regulation, and money involved gets in the way of watching competent people drive fast and try to win.
Why exactly is F2 not popular, when all the cars are the same spec? Is it because they're not the best drivers in the best cars? If this is the case then F1 should never be anything less than that.
Looks like the race proper has been geoblocked. I knew the last couple of days were too good to be true. Oh well.Bathurst 12h stream is live

That is some tremendously bad luck.Red flag at Bathurst now after a huge accident
A Porsche was stopped on track sideways, but it was at a blind section of the track and the race leader absolutely plowed through it
Both drivers managed to get themselves out of the car, but really really big hit

And allegedly Ferrari has a solution for themselves to make good getaways at starts. Guess they saw Hamilton's bad Quali performance and thought "Let's see what we can do about that" But who knows what will happen within the next 3 weeks, maybe the FIA sends out some TD or soThey're now worried that the cars can't get going properly under current start conditions and they need longer with the red lights to spin up the turbo to get away properly.
The combination of no electrical power below 50 kph and no MGU-H to spin up the turbo means they'll be horribly sluggish with stalls a lot more likely until they get up and running.
These rules as an utter clown show.
Mclaren seem to be pushing for 3 rules changes with the start procedure being the main one they're worried about. The other things are that the clipping is so extreme with these cars that they're worried a slipstreaming car will go into the back of a car that starts clipping and about if the movable aero will produce overtakes or not.And allegedly Ferrari has a solution for themselves to make good getaways at starts. That sounds like a complete and utter disaster. They're now worried that the cars can't get going properly under current start conditions and they need longer with the red lights to spin up the turbo to get away properly.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised. A lot of teams are crying "but muh safety" about the starts with the new power units.Rolling start hotfix incoming for the season opener![]()
They have a smaller turbo so it spins up faster. And allegedly Ferrari has a solution for themselves to make good getaways at starts.
