I completely forgot about this. Thanks for ruining my day lol. F1 TV was everything I wanted with sports viewing — paying ONE COMPANY money to view JUST the thing I came there for. Now I have to put up with Apple’s shit offerings being shoved in my face when all I want is just want to watch Jolyon Palmer nerd out on tech or watch documentaries on the sports history in between F1 events.
Exactly this. It was expensive but it was going to (the commercial interests of) the thing I enjoy. Now I'll be paying for F1 and a boatload of 'quirky dystopian sci-fi' I'm not going to watch and despise. I really just dont' wanna.

Pirating to watch low-quality streams of just the race day or maybe qualifying is way more hassle than dealing with Apple to get the same content I was getting with F1 TV. The only way I’d resort to pirating is if I was forced to use ESPN lol.

Meh, I just follow F1Gamer's YouTube channel for commentary.

I'm not playing the stupid fucking game of getting multiple subscriptions just so I can enjoy all the things I want. It's highway robbery and I hope it all crashes.

has anyone been keeping up with the F1 YouTubers in the off-season? I don't watch those channels any more but I used to follow a few. January was the worst time for absolute slop.

Either way, it's the Monte Carlo Rally next week so I'll be preoccupied with something proper.

VPN/VPS, set location to India, buy Indian Google play gift cards off Amazon India, use gift cards to get Indian account for F1TV (yes, you redeem them) at a very low price ($28 for the year) and without handing money to Apple.

Got it here, so much better than the ridiculous prices Sky want to charge with their exclusive deal. Plus I'm not locked into listening to Crofty and Ted.

The whole reason some people got into it was that ESPN was airing F1 when they were channel surfing. Or when they were in a restaurant. Or when they got ESPN+ in a bundle. Apple TV is one of the most isolated services out there. You can't get it reduced price, as a bundle, anything. MLS went to Apple TV and the ratings died. Friday night baseball also had the ratings killed. I know ratings couldn't matter less: the sports league will always go to the highest bidding TV network, and the TV network will make money off ads. But I think F1's popularity in America will fade quickly. Cadillac aren't going to make Colton Herta the face of the sport if nobody can actually watch him trundle around in 16th place.

Time to sail the high seas yet again!

It was odd how the RB22 launch was in fact part of the whole line Ford Racing yearly launch and they hard cut to a new stream on the Red Bull channel for the F1 car. I get it, but also, odd.

Ford blue and glossy, I like it okay.

The MLS deal has been a disaster for MLS. It's not just their ratings have nose dived. People just straight up stopped going to games.

It's fucking wild to me how American soccer finally seemed to be making headway, ratings were up, ticket sales were up, teams were financially viable, and league just signed a contract that has completely undone the previous couple of decades of growth.

The USL is launching a three tier system in the US for 2027, offering relegation and open access to any team.

By 2030, I bet MLS is going to see most of their teams jump ship.

I don't think any of this would have happened if not for the league making it a pain in the ass to watch games.
