In other news, Perez is quite outspoken lately about his time at RBR

Not a huge surprise given that China is Cadillac's biggest market. Maybe they're keeping Zhou warm until either Checo or Bottas decides to retire from F1?

Maybe in the past, but US sales of Cadillac is about x2 as much as China now. It's really fell off as brand in China, which still, may be the point as there is only 3 markets they are relevant (US, China and Canada).

My understanding was that Cadillac was supposed to be "the American Constructor". Hell, I'd relocate if I could get a job at one of their locations here.

I think they're going to try and find American drivers. Let's face it, Bottas and Checo aren't kids. They don't have long shelf lives. This is an exhibition team that's clearing the way for (hopefully) new talent. If they make it past 9th in the WCC this year, I will probably fall down dead from shock.

Just read that GP will stay Verstappen's race engineer for 2026. Seems like he has somewhat sorted out his situation though maybe he will leave with Verstappen next year if Verstappen feels he isn't getting ion front with Red Bull

If they are only relevant in US, China, and Canada then entering F1 only really makes sense to me as a play for Eurorelevance. Not enough Americans or Canadians care. No idea about China.
Cadillac has very little exposure in Europe for reason, they are regarded as crap in comparison to Euro and Japanese equivalents.

Puting Guanyu on the roster to me suggests a marketing push into China and the wider area.

Guanyu is proven to be not a great driver, Checo failed to live up to his potential and Bottas is aging out.

If he was faster than Verstappen then he wouldn't be complaining.
There might be valid arguments about Verstappen being the golden boy who the car gets form tailored to, but there's no driver who gets repeated punishment for being the fastest

The Team will always favour the consistently faster driver.

I just looked that up... 50% drop in sales over the last 4 years apparently. Ouch.

I'm not sure if installing a Chinese driver will really do much help restore Cadillac's market share in China, but I can see why they'd give it a shot.

anyone know what happened to Rocketpoweredmohawk? Did he get arrested for funposting in the UK?

I'm just annoyed I have to get Apple TV if I want to watch the races because of the North American license but regardless I'm excited for Cadillac being on the grid and if they're 9th or better in the constructors, I'll be happy.

I completely forgot about this. Thanks for ruining my day lol. F1 TV was everything I wanted with sports viewing — paying ONE COMPANY money to view JUST the thing I came there for. Now I have to put up with Apple’s shit offerings being shoved in my face when all I want is just want to watch Jolyon Palmer nerd out on tech or watch documentaries on the sports history in between F1 events.
