Yeah. they switched the front suspension from a pushrod to a pullrod concept. They also changed some other things. As this is a new concept it probably takes time to fully understand it
They likely could have figured it out if it was the 2000's where testing was completely unlimited and they have a mule on track every weekend to do whatever's needed for any configuration.

Fun, spicy race. Rather interesting how most of the incidents seemed to involve drivers going over or near covered road markings.

Given this is the FIA and they refuse to even consider using paid stewards, I wouldn't be surprised if we find out later that the shit they used to cover the markings was just used oil. Lol.
It's well known that curbs and paint get slippery when wet. Everyone who crashed put down way too much power before the car had grip. Sainz recognized his mistake, but immediately blamed the car for a power surge; the others didn't know what they did wrong. It's odd why they did that because F2 and F3 also race in wet weather. If the rookies had played 10 minutes of iRacing, they'd know that you can't drive a powerful RWD car without traction control like that in the rain.

Alonso just took much of the wet curb, which he should have known not to do.

The same could be said for Mercedes after the new regs were introduced. I think Toto even said "I wish we could just throw money at the problem but we can't anymore"

TBH I think Anthony really is a good guy and had a lot to do with the good and dare I say it, fun character of Early Lewis before he got too much ego.
I read Lewis biography on his second year in McLaren. Anthony went from an upper mid class job to lower middle class just to get Lewis into sport. His parents are the goats

Once more, with feeling:

I read an article about that time a few years ago when Lewis had fired his dad and wasn't on speaking terms with him. Lewis said it was because his dad was acting meddlesome, but what I really think happened is that Lewis's ego got out of control and he couldn't handle Anthony saying no to him about anything.

Bloois out proving he is impossible to work with but the best call was Leclerc saying there was water in the car and the engineer just saying "oh that'll be the water" was hilarious.

Also I totally spaced on creating the fantasy league this year, sorry. Just created it with join code

I'd assume it's because F1 has the hybrid shit and F2, F3 don't. They probably didn't have much opportunity to feel out how the regen and shit works when they're going slightly slower, especially if they have to adjust all of that from corner to corner. It could've been too much or too little regen breaking traction at the rear or the turbo spooling up too fast because it was set one click too far.
These cars are basically random and the totally-not-traction-control that can get confused if you lift (or don't like Alonso at Spa 2017) somewhere you usually don't and set you up for a different corner doesn't help either.
Meanwhile the lower formulas are just quick predictable cars.

The best part of McLaren dominance is how mad it makes weirdo fan accounts

I mean I think we can get behind the fuck Zak Brown thing with the shit he's pulled but somehow never really been big news in the media.

But God do I need a toxic shit free year in this sport. I've blocked everything even remotely F1 related on all the social media I'm on so here is the only place I'll see opinion, I've stopped watching any punditry just the race sessions, and I don't go to any "news" sites. The whole sport has been turned into a toxic drama machine with some races in between and I refuse to let it ruin the one sport I watch.

I've posted this before, but I'll post it again: Lewis Hamilton's appearances on Top Gear, back when he was quite likable (and tbh I quite liked him too).

Then there was Tooned, a series of animated shorts that were basically an ad for the McLaren F1 team, but quite fun to watch nonetheless

I have no idea how or why he became so insufferable, but it seemed to happen around the time he joined Mercedes. Whether it was from Toto washing his balls too much, being spoiled by driving the car that was so good for so long, all the Americans glomming onto him because DTS, all the #teamLH faggots infecting social media (because DTS), or maybe he just contracted Mansell Syndrome like almost every other English F1 driver since the mid '90s... it could be any or all of these.

All I know is that the real Lewis Hamilton left the paddock years ago, which is a damn shame.

Great race (although seeing Russell at podium I can't give it more than 7/10).

McLarens are fucking monsters. Too early to say whether Lando or Pastry learned a thing since last season and won't make as many embarrassing mistakes, but if yes, these are two are as of now the most serious contenders for WDC.
Ferrari is dogshit. Weaker than Mercs, beaten by Tsunoda in quali is pathetic. Their strategy? Fucking retarded. Race engineers? Still retards. Hopefully Hamilton pushes Vasseur into reorganizing this circus into a serious team. and yes, I still hold true that everyone that calls Leclerc a crap driver should join Stroll in licking jam.
Red Bull is mediocre at best, Williams tier at worst. Lawson has shown horrible driving this weekend, worse than Perez last season which is perplexing. Meanwhile Max is ever so close to McLarens in this trash can on wheels. China and Japan will tell more.
Antonelli is indeed promising, from P15 to P4, good decision indeed.
Stroll have been licking some serious jam, to survive this race and end up P6, all meanwhile Alonso crashed like a fucking novice. Unless it's a one-time mistake, age is starting to show its' effects.
Haas is dogshit, but at least both of them finished.
Doohan is fucked. Either he he runs this thing to solid points in Far East and sandboxes or Colapinto is ready to make a Sargeant 2.0 out of him. Alpine is more than capable of P6 - P9 every race, progress made in 2024 continues despite the crappy Dacia engine.
Bortoleto isn't half-bad but lack of experience shows. Hulk did a great job, already scoring more points in the first race then Bottas and chink did through the entire 2024 season.
Williams is the fastest they have been since 2017, one god knows what Sainz can do with this car when he's not crashing
VCARB isn't as hopeless as they have been last few seasons, but Hadjar is concerning. Especially his reaction after crash. Regarding helmut's statement, I don't know what is more embarrassing, kolkhoz atmosphere in Red Bull or keeping the one-eyed clown for so many years. Every few months a driver swap, same shit.

I think Hamilton will have some real problems this year. I read about his first "workweekend" and apparently he was doing things opposite from Leclerc. As an example he asked his engineer how much difference was between his and Leclerc's rear wing settings. His engineer said that Leclerc had 4 clicks more then them (so a more raised wing) What did Hamitlon do? Lower his by 2 clicks which then ruined his race. Then he asked if Leclerc had the same issues and he got as an answer that Leclerc wasn't having the same issues including some hints why Leclerc was faster (like no snap in his car by hitting the throttle pedal later). Yes it's a new car and yes he has to learn how to work with a complete new engineer but this gotta hurt for such a veteran. And Adami (Hamilton's engineer) might soon wish he would have the smooth operator back

Definitely a banger of a first race. Though the downside of the wet weather is that it's hard to tell where the teams really stand at the season start. Other than McLaren still being dominant, that is obvious.

Piastri beaching himself in the grass for a lap and still passing Hamilton at the end was a glorious finish.
