Given that there's a strong likelihood of a wet race today, I wouldn't be surprised if Max wins. The current RBR car might be a bucket of shit (when compared to both the McLaren and last year's RBR car), but Max is unstoppable in the wet.

As much as I'd love to see Pastry atop the podium, I'll be stoked even if he's 3rd, as it'd be the first time an Australian driver has ever been on the podium at an Australian F1 GP.
Agreed. Neither Norris nor Pastry have show the sort of skill and consistency in the wet like Max has and that leaves out if either of them is capable of putting a complete no drama race from the front where their only competition is intra team.

I wonder how much of a tantrum queen lewlew threw after that even and being easily decimated by Russell in qualifying.

I enjoyed Crofty trying to pretend Hambone is doing great because he was closer to Leclerc in qualifying than he was in practice. That spin saved him because it stopped drivers lower than him putting in good times.

Bearman is doing exactly as I expected, way overhyped by the commentators (British driver so of course). Managed 7th in a race where he had the second fastest car averaging 1s a lap slower than his teammate but of course he's the second coming.

Doohan did ok but will need to do better to make it difficult for Flavio to order him to bin it onto a barrier at a convenient time swap him out.

And what happens when verstappen gets 2 more championships and gets bored? They will eventually end up with a undrivable car that only one man on earth can actually drive in.
Well, IF somehow George gets the big offer from Cadillac and is lured away, and IF Red Bull car sucks this year and Max doesn't replicate Schumis 5 in a row, and IF the Merc is Top 2 team or at least finishes better than RB, there is a chance Max could go to Merc. Remember, 2026 is the new rules and the last time that happened in 2014, Merc was the team to capitalize and Ham started his dominant run of 6 titles in 7 years. So, we can never know right now, come end of this year, what 2026 could be like. Lindblad seems like a Max Jr in the making and while Max is Max, IF Arvid lives up to his apparent potential, he will be RB's future. He will only be 18 IF the above plays out and he ends up in the main team for 2026. Sooo, he'd be a decade younger than Max at that point. Scary to consider really. Lots of IFs of course, but weirder shit has happened as we know and you can't definitively say Max will be at RB in 2026.

What's it doing down there at moment bro? I just got home and about to watch the F2/F3 sprints.

Still 2.5 hours before race, but this is current conditions. Will we get a wimp start under SC?

That Aston Martin is probably one of the best looking super SUVs ever made, its miles ahead of the purosangue or the Urus in styling.

Well I hope everyone is ready to be up early to watch "the best drivers in the world" sit in the garage while a safety car goes round and the commentators try to fill air with rambling nonsense.
1AM lights out for me and if it is not a normal start, i.e. delayed or starting under SC, I am going to bed and will watch it tomorrow.

Well, the Supercars sprint race was abandoned due to rain, but it looks like the rain band that dumped all over the track is moving away from Melbourne.

Whilst it may not quite be a Spa 2021 or Adelaide 1991, I can still the F1 race being a bit on the damp side.

Unless verstappen really has a completely different driving style that requires a bespoke car, but why not build 2 different cars then?, they got the cash, make one for the second seat that constantly goes 3-4th and they will start to win the constructor's championship.
That's reddit cope trying to explain why their favorite drivers suck whenever they're not driving a car significantly faster than the rest of the field. Engineers do not build cars around a particular driver, they build the fastest car that they can.

As a viewer, it's impossible to tell if a car is slow because of its design or because of its driver. I've always wondered if Williams/Haas/Sauber aren't as bad at building cars as everyone assumes but rather they just have shit drivers.

30 minutes out and its chucking it down, inters are a big maybe.
If its chucking it should be full wets. Which is a worry as I assume they are still the shits like last year? Which means, if it is bad enough for full wets, its going to potentially be delayed start or worse under a SC.

30 minutes to go, will I be hitting the sheets or enjoying the start of an F1 race??

What are you talking about, RB is specifically known for building its car around the #1 Driver, Max and Vettel in particular. Ferrari and Benneton did so in Schumi's case as well. This is hardly an unknown phenomenon in F1 since the 80's.

Don't see many on grid, like Martin, using an umbrella so thats good sign. If it isn't raining, and doesn't, or does only lightly, NO excuse to start under a SC.

Zak pushing for a SC start, which makes sense for him. But hope that isn't the prevailing thought. It doesn't look like its raining at moment, if it is its very light. But track def is wet.

Imagine flooring in in these conditions, what was he cooking?

Also, always funny to hear wets discussed when every team would rather let Sargeant have a seat again than use them.
