I miss the days when any piss team could scam or pay their way onto the grid. If they did not perform, they would not be able to race when they introduced the 7% rule, it was a decent filter. But you still got the hilarity of the race track from those teams, it had charm.
Now it's just political bullshit, not very sporty.
Andretti has the know how, the backing of a Cadillac partnership and would expand the American market for F1, there is absolutely no reason at all why their bid was blocked (except their deniers being greedy Shlomos).
It's time for some form of underground F1 where amateurs with chest hair go way too fast on dangerous tracks in mad vehicles that rival F1's early days. And bring back smoking in the pit lane, those drivers of old looked so damn cool in their cars with a cigarette in their mouths and a babe in their arms.

Why not go full gigachad and redo Can-Am?

Here's the engineering rules you have to follow:
  • two seats (one seat from 1977 onwards)
  • bodywork enclosing the wheels
  • basic safety standards (fire protection, compulsory rollbar, brakes, non-protruding fuel tanks, oil catch tank, certain exhaust height, no refueling of lubricants)

... that's it
No limitations on materials, aerodynamics, engine displacement, turbocharging, anything

Don't you get it? Andretti would benefit more from F1 and not add to the prestige of the sport like say a quality constructor team such as Alpine.

Fuel tank limits and a spending cap, not a (((spending cap))).

I wonder how many drivers and team personnel will be getting penalties on the back of this statement from the FIA.

Though if anything it should be commentators and pundits getting their passes suspended, they're the ones that drive this shot the hardest.

Wow, Doohan in. Sort of expected but still a bit surprising.
Seems like only the Sauber / Audi slot is till vacant. So who is gonna be? Bottas? Or perhaps another newcomer?
Don't forget Merc! LOL Although likely to be Antonelli, still not locked in it will be him. But I expect he will be in that seat because if not Merc as you said Sauber/Audi only place he could go and doubt they would only take him if Toto sucks their dick hard enough. Now that Williams has Carlos, the other 2 Merc teams have no openings and now Alpine, who may end up a Merc team, are set for next year, it's either Merc with George or no Kimi in F1 in 2025.

Also, didn't Marko say that Lawson is gonna be driving for one of their teams next year? So, that means either Checo or Ric will be gone too. That will be quite the deal next year if we have 4 rookies in F1 in Bearman, Doohan, Kimi and Lawson. When was last time we had that many in a season?

Back to Doohan though, with him signing that now means assuming Kimi is in at Merc, 3 out of these 4 drivers will be gone for 2025: Bottas, KMag, Sgt, Chinaman (and likely Checo or Ric gone if what Marko said was true). Bottas has to be the prime favorite for Audi I'd think so assume he will stay. But Chink not staying is big given he must have huge backing from homeland. I wonder if that could yet keep him at Sauber? I think KMag will end up Indy, he seemed to be talking about that being enticing.

I didn't see or read anything about practice today other than Max saying RB "too slow". Going to check on the 2 sessions now, but assuming Merc and or McLaren did better which means after this weekend the WCC gap should decrease again. If Checo doesn't get his shit together in next few races, will we get Ric back in RB, if not this year, for 2025? Or will RB stick Lawson in the big team?

When was last time we had that many in a season?
Quite a while I think. I recently did a video on another old F1 topic and in that year 11 drivers made their debut in F1. We are far off from those numbers but F1 has also not that many teams at the moment

I would expect it to be Bottas staying for Audi if they're going for driver ability. How much is Audi targeting the China Market for their cars though? Never underestimate how much companies will shill for China cash.

I expect Ric has his cards marked by now. Great guy but since he left red bull the first time he's totally collapsed. Was OK for Renault, was dire for McLaren, and hasn't shown any signs of getting his form back in VCARB.

Red Bull really need to get both gone really, get Lawson and one of their many F2 drivers in the VCARB and give Yuki a shot at the hot seat to see how he goes. Now he's (mostly) calmed down he's a solid driver, let's see if they can push him further.

Yeah, agree on Bottas. He should stick around if Audi was smart. Help them transition in to F1 in 2026. Maybe even give him a shot at 2026? My thinking is Bottas probably wants a 2 year deal, at least, and Audi isn't willing to, yet. So that might be why he is in this limbo. I assume he has slight chance of returning to Merc if they don't put Kimi in, but again that would only be a 1 year deal for him. But Merc hasn't decided on Kimi just yet so the wait continues. Was reading The Race article on Bottas earlier, and they are listing all kinds of schizo choices for the 2nd Audi seat if Bottas isn't retained. Schumi, Jr., Pourchaire, Drugovich, Shwartzman all named in that piece, albeit serious outsiders. I wouldn't take any of them over Bottas tbh.

Assuming this story about Marko saying Lawson is in one of the cars next year, then Ric or Checo got to be gone. We know Yuki is signed and we assume Max will not leave, so one of them 2 are gonna be toast. Checo's $$ backing, and Horner's lunacy may keep him in RB, or if they choose to put Liam straight into RB (doubtful), he could end up partnering Yuki. Either way, looking grim for Ric, and yeah, he never should have left RB in first place. While he may have not gotten the better of Max, he surely would have won the races that Checo won, maybe even couple more. Oh well, he got loads of money for leaving RB so that prob helps him sleep at night. LOL

As for the kamikaze Jap, I think he is his own worst enemy. If he didn't come across as so arrogant and crying like a bitch as much he has, he may have gotten slotted into the RB by now. He def needs to keep his cool and stop flipping his shit, especially on the airwaves. He does himself no favours. He seems like a fairly good driver, but gets a tinge of the red mist a bit too often which detracts from his on track performance.

However the rest of the seats get filled, having 2 confirmed rookies and what is looking like 2 more TBC next season will be quite a nice reshuffle. And if either Checo or Ric are gone next year, it will be a big deal since both are 10+ year vets of F1 now. I'd also rather see Stroll go instead of KMag, but Sgt and Zhou being out most likely will have to do.

You know, if Stroll sticks around til he is 40+, which seems highly likely, and assuming he hasn't gotten prescription glasses at some point before then, he will most likely have the record for most F1 races without a win. Hulk is at 217, but Stroll, much younger, has just under 160 appearances now so he is headed in the right direction! If Newey does go to AM though and designs a killer, he just might get a win. Fingers crossed that don't happen, or he just fucks off as he cant live with the embarrassment of being shit and only there cause daddy owns a team.

Meanwhile Hamilton goes from mhero (winning 2 of the last 3 races) to zero. Either that car is one hell of a one trick pony or the new floor is not working for him.

Hamilton was penalized for blocking Perez, 3 places back. And Albon was disqualfied. So technically he lost to Sargeant
Brilliant after all the on air "Mr 8 world championships is flawless in every way" commentary. Sky seem to have doubled down with how insufferable they're being this season.

Here's the technical document for Albon's DNQ

Looks like it's a "oh shit that upgrade we thought was OK is actually illegal". I wonder how much money and development time just went down the pan? There is going to have to be some serious investigating down the factory to prevent that screw up again.

Does it feel to anyone like many more disqualifications are happening recently too? Is this rule set just too complicated or are the teams really pushing it? I don't remember a recent rule era that had quite so many misinterpretations and mistakes by teams.

On a similar note Haas got a reprimand for Hulk driving a car back to the pits with a damaged front wing, seems a bit extreme if they expect drivers to park it for a little as missing parts of the wing, also if they're going to do that in practice how will the justify not penalising someone for doing it in race?

Bring back Hockenheim or Nurburgring instead, dipshits
Fun story, for 2016 race I wanted to go with my dad, he always wanted to see the race so why the hell not. Chose Hockenheim.

Well then I checked prices... Him being disabled I expexted to have at least a little discount. Nope! Because he is in a wheelchair, he needs to buy the most expensive tribune - 490€ at the time. I get no discount either, so it would be almost a grand to watch cars go around. Now mind you, those were the "cheap" tickets in that tribune, the most expensive ones went for ~900€. The only difference being, you have a higher location. That is. No snacks, no drinks, even WC was extra.

And it was expensive all around the track. A standing spot along the curved straight was 180€ for fucks sake, for a patch of grass! The pricing was absolutely atrocious, yet they could not understand why people dont buy tickets.

It ended up being cheaper to go to Austria, 1000km one way, buy tickets ON THE START FINISH LINE, and drive back - and pay for fuel, some snacks on the track, etc. It costed me overall less than a single admission ticket to Hockenheim.
