why would merc take Alonso when they have superstar like Nyck de Vries on the market and the Goat Mick Surname on the bench ? Are they no good ? :story:
Even Ratboy Ocon is under Toto's management so why the spanish old man lol . Ocon Russell would be the funniest line up after Bottas De Vries

Biggest plot twist would be if Mercedes build a great W16 for 2025 and Russell takes the title that year with Hamilton not even scoring a podium

Assuming this news is accurate, how long do you reckon Hambone will last until he gets yeeted by Ferrari? You just know that unless he wins the 2024 2025 WDC, he'll blame it on the car and make a Prost-style "truck" comment.

Well, that’s confirmation.

Well this will certainly bring some speed into the driver's market. While Leclerc and Norris are fix at their respective teams we have several whose contract runs out

Until his second "I'm bigger than the team" tantrum. He'll get a stern warning after his first and promptly ignore it.
Checo to take over babysitting duties at AM. I'm calling it now.
Who even knows, I think they're just pulling names out of hats in the desperate hope they get one right.

I expect we will get Wolff retiring news too.

I think the thing that's done it is constant 1 and 2 year deals when rumour was hambone always wanted longer. If Ferrari have thrown him 3 or 4 years then I can see why he's going. Let's hope Ferrari make a tractor for him.

It will be interesting who gets the number 1 driver status (no matter what Ferrari say they're incapable of having equal drivers). If Hambone then they're throwing away Leclerc's career and hopefully he has a brake clause to go somewhere else. If Leclerc then expect some major hambone tantrums.

Here's the driver contract expires before the Norris, Leclerc, and Hambone new contracts. Let the speculation begin.

Understatement, it’s only Max, Leclerc, George, Piastri, and Stroll under contract after this season.
And Norris.

I can see Alonso sticking around for some more daddy stroll big bucks, plus they started out with a decent car this season. Do the same next and he'll probably sign on the dotted line.

I imagine Albon will probably be hot property for the midfield teams like Alpine to try for. Assuming Williams aren't well ahead of them which emd of 23 form suggests they may be.

Ocon and Gasly will be "solid midfield" options, but no one in a top team is going to give them a look.

Haas will probably yeet the pair to hire a clown and two kids wearing a trench coat.

Dani will be off to pkay second fiddle to Max, exactly what he desperately wanted not to do.

Checo will be shit out of luck, this season wrecked his rep.

Sauber might grab Sainz ready for Audi given that his dad has racing links to Audi.

China man is probably out of luck with the house of cards ecconomy starting to get a breeze blown on it, so little sponsorship to keep him in.

I have no idea who merc will go for. I doubt it'll be Mick or De Vries despite how much Toto goes on about how much they deserve a drive (in teams he has no interest in). It could be Ocon but he's too good at taking out team mates so doubt it. Maybe Vesti but Merc doesn't usually deal in unknowns.

And all of this has been theory crafting with litte to no insight into any of the contract stuff, so worthless and not worth the electrons that transported it.

I bet Kimi Antonelli will get the merc seat if he has a good year in F2. If he doesn't I think it will go to Albon

Not that he has a choice. Lawson is a walk-up starter for an AT seat in 2025, and it's not like they'll be punting Tsunoda any time soon (because Honda). I think Ric has come to terms with his fate as Max's wingman.

I can see how a move to Ferrari might benefit Hamilton who has burned his boats at Mercedes, and who is at this point a walking collage of brands and fashion labels papered around the empty shell of a human being - very much the embodiment of F1 in [current year]. A stint at Ferrari will look good on his resume when he exits the sport, regardless of how it goes for him behind the wheel. Best case scenario is an Indian summer where he drives the way that he used to drive back in the day.

Ferrari, on the other hand, are in desperate need of a driver who can pull the team together. A petulant, self-entitled prima donna who has had teams and cars built around his needs, and who has no discernible leadership ability doesn't seem to me to be a good mix, on paper at least. Maybe I will be proven wrong.

Insert meme of guy walking down some steps vs guy doing elaborate skateboard moves to end up the same place.

He made 2 terrible career moves desperately trying to avoid the RBR number 2 status and after all that he's going to end up as RBR number 2.

If Checo and Danis forms from the end of 23 continue I'm betting on a mid season switch.

Sainz will get another drive somewhere else. Hopefully a good one, I like him. But Ferrari have had Charles since he was a boy. They will be very reluctant to give up on him. I hope he learns a bit from Lewis.

edit: read back in the thread. That John Player Special black and gold race trim was pretty much the best F1 livery of all time. Definitely top 3. That shit was magic

Please no. I don't want Charles to learn how to be a petulant faggot who expects to rock up on race day and win without putting any effort into vehicle development whatsoever.
