I am loving the seeth about Andretti. Sorry we don't need another Virgin, Marutsia, or Hispania. Come back when you can show you'd be able to actually qualify for a race.

I have a few "red line" GPs, where if a majority get replaces by soulless middle Eastern, murican, or street circuits I'm out (having watched every season since '92). Suzuka is up there along with Spa, Monza and Silverstone.

I really, really hope they take note of the reactions to Madrid and Veges and dial back the insanity. I have no idea if they will though. As said above, they could go off a cliff NASCAR style unless someone at the helm wakes up soon.
Tbh I doubt F1 could go full NASCAR because it’s hard to have fucked up as bad as NASCAR has. Of course, they could copy NASCAR’s dumber decisions like a playoff format for the championship and designated cautions and that would do the trick.
Hamilton to Ferrari sounded like typical off season nonsense, but it's being reported by a number of larger outlets now so might just be happening....

Would be a genuine embarrassment for Sky if this isn’t accurate and would likely get someone fired. Hope it is because it’d be funny to see a very awkward season for Mercedes since the reports indicate that Hambone would leave after this season.

It gets reported every silly season.

The large Leclerc contract extension showing they're all in on him and ferrari doesn't do "equal drivers", So would hambone be going there as faithful manservant? Doubt it. Would Leclerc stick around for the Bottas treatment? Again doubt it. I seriously doubt even ferrari are stupid enough to try it.

Plus hambone wouldn't be getting his prerace fluffing off the team principal like he does at merc. There'd be no "we know the car is bad" or "we're so sorry it's all our fault" calls.

I doubt Italians and ferrari would do the same apology for being white tour that the Germans and Brits in merc do.

Ferrari probably wouldn't appreciate hambone doing naff all development work because he's out recording his latest album, developing his latest fashion line, or fucking around watching the football team he part owns.

Ultimately there's nothing in it for either of them. Ferrari don't need a past it driver who was only ever just good but with a stellar car and hambone wouldn't be able to accept losing all the ego stroking that comes from within merc.

Usually yes it would just be speculation, but this is being reported everywhere now even from more reliable sources.

I'm still only going to believe it once its a Ferrari/Mercedes press release.

I mean if its true I'm going to laugh like crazy for all the reasons posted above. Its a terrible idea for all concerned and likely the contract that sees hambone retiring at the end.

Hamilton to Ferrari would just recreate the same shit that happened with Vettel to Ferrari. People stop booing him and decide that actually, they always loved him. In return, they still will not win a championship because the car isn't that good or the driver simply decides to coast on an easy contract to the end of his career.

I refuse to believe it's real. Hamilton needs to remember how badly Ferrari fucked Leclerc's career. He should continue to spank Russell.

He might even lose his ambassadorship at Mercedes with this dumb move, not that he needs cash anyway.

Ferrari hasn't won a single WDC since 2007 (and they won it thanks to McLaren self-imploding; last real WDC was in 2004, 20 years now). Nignog is making a poor move here.

I read more and more that Mercedes actually announced at their factory in Brakley that Hamilton will leave at the end of 2024. This sounds as if it is real. Kinda ironic with Hamilton saying "I will stay here to get us back in front" last year after signing a 2 year contract. Would that actually mean that the new Mercedes is shit? Or have too many engineers left due to "diversity hires"?

IF he is going (which no releases yet at of 1548 GMT) then it's probably a "Mercedes have decided to go in a different direction for the new rules" move. They have Russell and some fast drivers in their junior driver program coming through.

They're in a position to need to develop towards the new rules and hambone is not the guy to have there for that because he thinks he's above all the car development work. He's the superstar and all the little people at the factory cam deal with that.

I still don't understand why they would hold a factory announcement about this sort of thing long before an official announcement. They would know there is no way it stays quiet and it's not necessary to tell the entire workforce about personel changes.

BBC is reporting it's 'expected' too, so it's going to be insane if it doesn't happen.

This has so many angles to it, I don't know where to start.

Hambone is still a pretty good driver. His shortcoming is IMO adaptation to cars and temperament with the team. New rules package, quirky Ferrari cars and their strategy department all say this is an incredibly bad move for both parties. How much shit he gave Bono, what's he going to do with 'forgot to put wheel on the car, we are checking, slow button on'?! I would say he doesn't deal with equal drivers well but.... I don't think there were any chimpouts at Russell, so maybe that's not so bad.

Toto has to be losing his fucking shit right now, unless this was his idea - and I doubt that.

Rumour is out that Red Bull are planning to move Adrian Fucking Newey out of F1 operations altogether to keep under the salary cap.

1 - lolwut
2 - let's play fantasy F1 and have Newey join Hamilton at Ferrari

Staff at Mercedes HQ have been informed, so looks like all we're waiting for is the official announcement. One of the dullest preseasons ever becomes one of the craziest in the space of around 8 hours. Will be very interesting to see if Mercedes just focus everything on Russell for this season

Can’t wait for Hamilton to fling his helmet across the track when his Ferrari shitbox fails from electrical issues

Newey has worked on other red bull projects in the past so the F1 team aren't paying his full salary.

Also rumour mill has gone fucking nuts on the back of this. Apparently Alonso to Merc and Sainz to Red Bull are now in discussion. So standard bullshit F1 media.
