There is a complex of turns on the circuit - I think it's from three onwards - that sit amidst formless aprons of red, white and blue run-off, that look like they've been squeezed out of paint tubes. They are so lacking in definition that watching the cars approaching head-on, on the opening lap of the sprint, was like watching them swarming across a parking lot. It's the illusion of incoherence and aesthetically offensive. It's an okay track, I guess, but in common with a lot of modern racing circuits, it has no charm.

The track isn't to blame for F1's shoddy camera work. None of that is an issue in person and it's a lovely place to visit.

I hate that F1 covered up the pedestrian bridges with ads. They are the best places on the entire track to watch races from but I guess they didn't want people with cheap general admission tickets to have better seats than the people in the expensive hospitality suites.

I always feel like the reverse grid or whatever ideas would just make it a circus. Might as well have the drivers get out of the car and do a rap battle after every 20 laps. If that's needed to polish the sprint-turd just get rid of them and find a new idea.
To be fair, the idea of having 3 days of competitiveness on track is something I agree with, and I feel like it matches the modern time where lots of people watch F1 on demand and have no need to catch it live. Having a mini-race and extra quali just doesn't feel like it's the one.

I like COTA as a track, it's very 'artificial' in that they just took some of the best parts of other tracks and slapped them together, but it works. And yes, some of the broadcasting has been atrocious as usual, the directing especially. But surely the track is responsible for the ads and the spectator experience around the track, not F1. It's a shame if COTA isn't staying more 'for the people', with the US already having Miami and Vegas as the rich people's shitshows, though I feel that Texas has been going that way anyway with the influx of Californians and youtubers.

Both AMs and Haas starting from pit lane apparently I believe I saw on Twitter a little while ago.

My hope is spook gets a nudge from behind and does a Carlos like last year and spins around for a bit. Or, he takes the lead only to have Max blow by him in 4 or 5 laps. Either scenario will be just fine with me.

That was a great race from beginning to end. A scruffy few first corners, but scruffy is exciting. Then a genuinely intriguing mix of strategies that took the race from periods of speculative abstraction to hard moments of truth.

Hamilton drove really well. With a slight modification to the strategy he would have been on the top step of the podium. I wish he would take off the pussy hat more often.

I will be interested to hear how serious the brake issue on the Red Bull actually was.

Bad luck for Alonso. He had a strong race until the clown car mechanics kicked in.

At least Ferrari remembered to bring tires rather than horseshoes, which is the best you can expect from that team at present.

I am tired of drivers grassing on each other for infringing track limits.

Unrelated to the racing - a really dramatic skyline. Superior clouds.

Neither I bet. Schumacher might go to Endurance Racing which probably means no more F1 and Lawson is designated test driver for Red Bull. Maybe even becoming simulator driver

Or RBR could loan Lawson to Williams for the 2024 season to give him more flying hours in an actual F1 seat. It wouldn't be the first time RBR has loaned them a driver.

Dumb Mexicans booed Max and chanted "Checo" during the Dutch national anthem. Even dumber redditors are coping by saying they were booing Governor Abbott instead because they can't stand to see someone who politically disagrees with them.

The Mexican GP is going to be fun after Max wins while Checo doesn't score any points.

Lewis and Leclerc failed a random plank wear check and may be disqualified:
