I agree and it seems bizarre especially for a feeder team, but I did hear some explanation in an interview (though I can't remember where). That AT is in a sorry state this season partly because they didn't have a driver to help them with development in practices etc so they want Ricciardo there to help develop the team back up the field. Since a feeder team that languished at the back never progressing in qualifying or fighting for points would provide zero development for their development drivers.

It feels plausible as a reason not to take Lawson, but it doesn't explain why a washed Ricciardo was picked.

Mount Panorama (Bathurst) does the corkscrew thing better. The Dipper is way longer and it's a much bigger drop.

Oh and now we get the Aston "driver ambasador" who did the drive around last week being interviewed and half the screen being taken by her during a live session. Maybe do it during the build up?

Oh and now "it would be really unfair to look at the laptimes given...", odd they usually bring up the times for drivers when they play in F1 cars. She's an ex w series driver who currently drives for a formula student team and is trying to get into GT3 next season, why is she a 15 minute+ feature during a session?

Well that's the point isn't it, why is she a pundit (aside from gina and melonin) if she's not watched much of the sport, doesn't know the recent history of the sport, and failed horribly in any single seater racing she ever tried? That's without here being god awful at the whole presenting and punditing too.

No mention of the outcome of the investigation into lewlew but the final grid has been published woth him in 3rd so can assume fuck all happened (though I knew that result as soon as they said he was under investigation).
 
If anyone feels like a palate cleanser and/or is happy to forgo sleep this weekend (assuming you're on the other side of the world), good old Lord Latifi Streams has the Bathurst 1000 live this weekend. The next practice session starts in just over an hour, though the Top 10 Shootout for pole will be on in the middle of the night for Amerimutts and Leafs.

A reminder of why the Bathurst Top 10 Shootout is the most based way to figure out the top 10 grid positions: this weekend is the 20th anniversary of Greg Murphy's "Lap of the Gods". Sure, Murph's time has been eclipsed by modern supercars, but this is still the greatest lap Mount Panorama has ever seen.

I'll point out that if you're in the US, say, you can go to Supercars on youtube and getting their pass for it is pretty cheap and gets you a hell of a lot of content.

Not that I care about 'muh pirated streams' or anything it's just they do fuck all to promote it.

Just checked, $7/mo which isn't... nothing, but you get the whole no-commercial stream including all the support series and the presenters doing their hair and makeup before segments which is funny.

Dope thread btw wish I found it sooner. F1 Twitter tiptoes very closely to being worthy of a thread of its own at this point. At least in my opinion, bit too niche of a thing for most id imagine. But between the prominent hamilton stans and the unironic race enthusiasts who enjoy motorsport there's alot of shit that checks off the same boxes various cows and communities highlighted here do.

Both sides equally mentally ill, probably less so on the verstappen/nando side, they dabble somewhat in reality and at least get the guist of the rules and past precedent. but they make up for that with the racism, cause that's the only thing that actullay gets through to other side as they dont care for fscts or anything that happened prior to December 2021. It's great honestly. Its just woke folk and trannies fighting based indivuals who enjoy watching an autistic man go fast with the power of racism fueling him. Honestly one of the more entertaining dramas to follow on the internet.

The only thing Stroll the Elder can do at this stage is set up a Formula E team and stick Stroll the Younger in there, citing AM's upcoming move into road-going EVs as the reason for joining Formula E.

If they really want to huff the copium, make Stroll the Younger the lead driver in the new team and cite "extensive experience in F1" as the reason. Sure, a lot of that experience has been as a moving chicane, but it's experience nonetheless.

Give Checo the vacant AM F1 seat, and keep Alonso in his seat until he finally retires at age 57.

Yeah when the interview with Max about the list of 3 time driver champions was aired loads were posting about how Max was the only one on the list with tainted controversial championships. Prost and Senna were on that list and you're telling me neither had championships that were controversial?

I hope it fixes it because a "you must pit at least every 20 laps and have a minimum 3 stopper" would utterly ruin any attempt at strategy.

It raises the question about "used" tyres now. All those that ran in practice and qualy have been over the old curb. Are they safe to use in the sprint/race or are teams that got to Q3 now super short of usable tyres? They've not been given mew tyres to make up for it (because pirelli doesn't bring more than necessary). Going to be interesting for those trying to go long tomorrow (assuming they're allowed to).
