Its an off week, so let's have a giggle at our favorite team's expense in light of recent interviews.

Lando got wiped CLEAN by PR63 in the junior series so i am not counting on him beating max either at Mclaren or Red bull :stress:
Maybe , i think he better focus on not getting owned by Piastri . ( Piastri nuking the " heh my boy nDebrigz , he just need more time heh " and Mick surname aswell indirectly :story: )
Who is PR63?

Opinions on grosjean after this season of indycar?

I always knew he was a mediocre driver, his multitude of stupid incidents only reinforced me in this point of view (why yes you should keep pushing gas when facing the opposite direction tk the track). I am pretty sure he wont get a seat for 2024 either.

Most common line of defence being "he is the nicest guy on the grid though" which is idiotic. You dont win races by being nice.

And he is french.

Yeah the guy is just a crash merchant, can't really blame anyone but himself at this point. And he's medium pace at best by say F1 standards, it's not like you're getting a driver who will blitz the field when he gets it right. The only real thing he has going for him is having been juicy for Netflix once, and even those shots become a bit less interesting when you realize he crashes nearly every fucking race he's in.

Andretti is not great at pit strategy. Grosjean is not great at driving. Maybe it was the pressure of being in a big team that got to him, or maybe he was just overrated thanks to DTS and having decent runs in Coyne cars. Regardless, you can't keep paying a driver who always manages to screw up on the rare instances that you don't, especially when his performance drove their biggest sponsor away.

That said, if Andretti hires Sting Ray fucking Robb and I was Grosjean I would sue.

Almost a week old at this point but Helmut Marko apparently said something racist about Checo, at least that's what the #RedBullRacist hashtag was claiming, lol.

What Marko said:
"The Italian GP was surely one of Checo Perez's best weekends and we know about his problems in qualifying, which is where he has his doubts," Marko said, in an interview for Sport & Talk of Servus TV.

"Let's remember that he is South American and so his head is not as focused as Max Verstappen or as Sebastian Vettel was, but racing is his forte and he had a very good race.

"Overtaking three drivers, in George Russell and the Ferrari drivers, was not easy, as we knew they were faster on the straights.

"In the race, Perez did everything right and now we have circuits like Singapore, where he has already won and which suit him better."

Marko did, however, take time to applaud Checo as he explained that the Red Bull seat is one of the most sought-after on the F1 grid.

"The seat at Red Bull is one of the most sought-after, but on the other hand you also have Max Verstappen as an opponent, so you need personality and also a very strong mentality," Marko said.

"Perez has done the best of all the drivers in recent years and has also won races."

Marko is excited about what Verstappen and Perez can achieve in the remainder of the 2023 Formula 1 season given they've won every race so far.

"We are optimistic and, despite our success, we have curiously never achieved 1-2 in the drivers' world championship, so we are very excited to achieve this," Marko added.
You only have to go back to August 2022 when the Red Bull advisor was in the eye of the storm over comments he made about Perez.

That's the first time he called him "South American", even though Mexico belongs to North America.

"As a South American, he generally has a lot of ups and downs," Marko pointed out in an interview then for Sky Germany.

"Max is not afraid, and Perez is very scared, although it isn't different from how he lives in Mexico City," he said, in reference to the violence in the country's capital.

You don't fence-in a driver like Grosjean with track limits or crash barriers, or arbitrary rules about weaving in front of other drivers. He is a free spirit. A man of boundless horizons, with the heart of a cheetah and the mind of a cheetah. His blood pulses with the quickening tribal drumbeats of the Savanah. In Mexico they call him El Sidewinder. In the banjo-driven songs of the Southern States they refer to him as Mississippi Grosjean, likening him to that great meandering river. In France he is known simply as le baiseur de mur (the wall fucker).

The onus should not be on Grosjean to change his driving style, but for motorsport as a whole to adapt so as to better accommodate him.

A lot of people (myself included) really respect that he didn't let the 2020 crash be the end of his racing career. Most sensible people would have lived through that wreck and said "That's a sign if there ever was one" and just never climbed in a car again. That goodwill isn't enough to keep him in a car in what is theoretically a frontrunning team. I'm an Andretti fan, have been for years; but Andretti is like the Ferrari of IndyCar. A team with great history that can win, but somehow always fucks up strategy.

He's absolutely crash prone, a good portion of his 2023 season going so poorly is his own fault. He absolutely could have won a couple races this season, but I think he got tunnel vision chasing that first win and wasn't able to think beyond the next corner.

I hope he finds another series if DCR doesn't take him back. Though he may be French, he takes his kids to Monster Truck rallies and that's about the most American thing I can think of.

As if overtaking Leclerc wasn't enough, Lawson has now eliminated Verstappen on the Q2, lol.

Too bad the Farms was down when this was on. :gunt:

The last few laps were an absolute nail biter. It's official. Swarthy Carl >>>>>>>>>>>>> Spotify Carl.

Also, lol at Russel crashing at the very final moments. :story:
