That was.... gonna happen.
For more meme fun, his replacement is going to be either Conor Daly or the Estonian guy who said the gamer word.

In total batshit insanity, apparently CGR is signing Lundqvist to the #8. I guess either Huski decided they would back another Swede or Cheap is lowballing him. This all but confirms Ericsson to the #28 or #29. I hope he enjoys botched pit strategy and getting doored by Fat John!

Are there any Estonian companies who still believe in Vips to deliver the goods? Because that sponsor money's necessary for that seat.

I'll accept either. Conor is nowhere near great most weekends but I still think he got done extremely dirty by ECR. Hunter-Reay being basically a lateral move since has been funny to watch. Guess who wasn't the problem, Ed...

Also they tried to cancel him for something his dad said in the early 80s. What's fucked up is it almost worked, pre-Floyd.

I'm curious about Vips too, I thought the only thing against him was gamer wordin' but I didn't follow close.

No, that was just it. There's people out there who watch random sub-200 viewer streams just in hopes of catching one of the guys accidentally saying something spicy in a long Call of Duty stream. Then again, Vips was in the Red Bull program and that might as well be the great crusher of hopes and dreams into Helmut Marko's daily sustenance of souls.

I'm torn because if wins fuck Hamilton and the salt from his moron fans would be absolutely amazing, may even be enough to get him and the idiots to rage quit. On the other I don't want championships to never be over because someone will always find some way to lawfare it and the sport would become a fucking joke.

True however I have one issue.
the sport would become a fucking joke.
Would become a fucking joke? It isn't now? You have commentators that would jump on certain drivers' dicks if given the opportunity, races in hellholes, boring samey cars, engines that sound like spring cleaning and unexciting camera angles that remove all sense of excitement and speed in favor of showing yet another DEI-approved bugcorp. God what a steal.

Way too late to change anything. Should have sued the moment Piquet came clean. Also it's funny enough to use the "6 time champion" bite on Twitter without this

For god's sake I'm sick to fucking death of hearing about the end of 2021, the salt of him losing 2008 wouldn't be worth the pissing and moaning about Abu Dhabi

Didn't merc go down this fruitless path already?. on a side note i nominate sting ray robb for a f1 seat

As I have worked in law for 30+ years I am pretty convinced that the lawsuit is all monetary related, i.e. he is going to argue he lost potential income and remuneration by losing the championship when it was clear that Singapore was fixed and if there was no fix, he *may* have been WDC. As we all know, one race result, while it may impact a title, doesn't define it. But I am assuming his argument is that something illegal happened in the Singapore GP and had it now, he'd have won the title, and made more money the following seasons and probably would have received endorsements and other opportunities to make more money due to being a WDC.

Whatever the case, and if he wins a monetary award because of the "fix", the title will still be Lewis' and the results will never change. That would be huge and have serious repercussions in the future of any sport if they change the results for something that happened 15 years ago! LOL

tl;dr: he wants compensation for potentially financial losses by not winning the title.

If it gives us a solid way of putting a * next to the 7, I'm all in it.

It comes down to who knew what and when.

Initially Singapore was only investigated after the season was over and the trophy given out. It was assumed that was the first time something came to light to start the investigation.

Bernie gave an interview last year in which he said the FIA were immediately aware something dodgy went on but chose not to dig into it until after rhe championship.

If the latter is the case and they could have launched the investigation during the season potentially nullifying the race result then Massa would have been the champion.

As livefromNS is saying though it will probably be seeking loss of earnings only rather than any declaratory judgement about Massa being champion but I can dream about lewlew getting fucked over.

Yeah that is more of a monetary move then a real change in championship standing. Should he win he can say "See I am the real champion of 2008" but I would bet that a lot of people already see Massa like that. Would be funny if Prost comes out and sues to get the 1990 championship after Senna crashed into him in the first corner of the Suzuka GP

And Senna's Estate sues for the 1989 championship.

Though that was the biggest bullshit ever so would be great. I did enjoy pointing people to that decision after 2021 when they were all screeching most controversial ever.

If this is taken seriously, it will set a terrible precedent for F1, which already has one foot in a pair of giant clown shoes.

Sport is riven with injustices and dubious calls. You live with them; perhaps you argue over them with differently-opinionated fans . What you do not do is hand them over to lawyers 15 years after the event. Such disparities should be reserved for historic crimes and grave miscarriages of justice.

Allowing races or world championships to be decided in court, whether the goal is prestige or compensation, or both, undermines the entire enterprise and damages fan morale. It is bad enough when the standings are reconfigured a few hours or days after a race.

I like Massa. The gods of F1 let him get so far, then hurled fistfuls of their shit at him for the remainder of his career. He got a bum deal and he deserved better, but its done. Let the biographers set the record straight. Let Massa go back to the Ferrari Sanctuary for Retired Donkeys, or wherever it is he works.

I don’t buy the “infrastructure” excuse for not running races at real American tracks.

Red Bull Ring and Spa are in the middle of nowhere. Monaco is the worst attended track besides oil tracks because it has no infrastructure.

Grade 1 means nothing as shown by all the dangerous street tracks that somehow meet the standard. All it means is that F1 plans to/has raced there.

Laguna Seca is an hour and a half drive from the Bay Area, Sonoma is a short drive from San Francisco, Road America is an hour from Milwaukee and close to a lot of medium sized towns, Road Atlanta is right next to a major city, Sebring is within easy driving distance of Tampa, Orlando, and Miami, VIR is next to a medium sized town and is within driving distance of Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham.

There was no need to pick Vegas and Miami.
