Also reminder that Gasly is under investigation for taking out Ocon and is 2 pts short of a race ban.
No further investigation for Gasly and Ocon.

I was absolutely stunned they decided to red flag and standing start with 2 laps left. That was the stupidest fucking decision I've ever seen. Thanks for absolutely wasting my time watching 2 hours of racing to give us a complete shitshow ending, costing millions in damage under a budget cap, and absolutely fucking Alpine and whoever else had problems on the bullshit ceremonial lap 58 (I admit, I turned off the TV in disgust at that point).

Un-fucking-acceptable. And I'm deeply suspicious the reason they did it is that Merc had been great on standing starts and they figured they could get Lewis a """win""" with this fuckery. They completely erased a perfectly good GP for a NASCAR-like farce ending.

Fuck them. Why bother watching a 2 hour race if FIA/Liberty Media thinks "start 'em on cold tires with a lap or 2 to go and let god sort 'em out" is what the fans REALLY want? I can watch that in a 30 second YouTube highlight vid. Do you see the problem now, Liberty?

Sorry bro but this multi car pile up is 100% net zero carbon.

The Red flag remind me of Baku 2021 with the meme restart after Verstappen Puncture.

Masi wasn't the problem after all ?!! Shocked dare i say.

FIA realized they needed more red flag restarts after AD2021. They decided to use all of them on this Grand Prix. 2023 Australian GP has the same amount of red flags as the entire 2022 season. What a clownshow after Charlie Whiting's gone.

They've cleaned up far worse under VSC in the past, a true SC at a push. They absolutely did not need a red. This is the consequence of all the reeing when a street sweeper is within 5 miles of the track during a SC. The reds were absolutely unnecessary and having the "formation" lap behind the SC is an absolutely terrible idea when everyone has been struggling to warm their tyres.

Just read that former Williams sponsor Rokit is suing Williams for damages to their brand because of false promises by Williams in 2019. The false promise being "developing a competitive car"
Showing Rich Energy how you REALLY dis a team.

Yes but in the past , There wasn't a driver like Pierre " Is that a tractor, time to get that purple sector" Gasly on the grid.
The media shitting on the FIA whatever they do is kinda funny and the funnier thing is the FIA still trying to appease them.
Bernie and Mosley would have told them to fuck off already lol.

Exemple:
The Alonso penalty with the 30lap delayed = Get shit on
The Sainz penalty in 3min = Get shit on anyway

Baku next race is a sprint race. Hoping for a 2016 Baku bis. Sprint week end needs boring race to kill them even though with the Stroll Sc of Saudi , the Trademark " Cautions Red Flag for debris' may appears.
The lack of Latifi or Mick WallFinder is weighting hard on the FIA lol

His countryman Bianchi was in that same headspace I think.

Then he got a crane into his headspace.

Yeah they very quickly buried the part of the investigation that suggested he failed to slow sufficiently (or really at all) for the double waved yellows. That point didn't make it his fault, he wasn't the first and won't be the last but the sequence of events ultimately conspired against him.

It's unfortunately become a part of investigations that you can't even suggest the victim may have also has some part in the chain of events and you end up with nonsense finger pointing about muh recovery vehicle for anything other than a red flagged entirely empty circuit.

In other news guy gets small cut due to a bit of flying carbon, proceeds to cry to the media about how it could have killed a bus load of orphans and nuns causing the bus to go out of control and hit a group of playful puppies.

There was also Ayrton "Oh my pit crew isn't ready let's get the fastest lap by speeding through the pit lane" Senna (when there was no speed limit)

In other news Massa has allegedly said he is willing to contest the title for 2008 now that Ecclestone has said he had hushed up Crashgate 2008 in Singapore. Wouldn't that be funny? Lewis loosing his first title decades later. Sounds more like April's fool but still funny

Much like hambone fans trying to get 2021 undone it's not possible. The rules of the sport say once the trophy is awarded that's it no more challenges of any sort. You need to bring any challenges prior to the gala.

It would be great though, Massa absolutely deserved that title more than hamboy and the consequences to the sport of that WDC have been disastrous.

How we've fallen.

Le Mans '55, people came back. Near misses like the '87 Bobby Allison crash, people came back.

Oi, oi, I got a cut on me arm, though. For my money it'd be 'this bit's mine now, have Kev and Gunter sign it'.

I don't know if anyone else caught Indycar at Texas last weekend, but what a race. Heartbreak for RoGro yet again (that man is cursed), and heartbreak for Pato (the entire Mexican section that got free tickets from his web store went home disappointed), but it was really fun to watch, there was multi-lane racing without the crazy 1999 IRL-style packs. I was in the crowd and there was actually decent attendance, so hopefully that's a promising sign for keeping it on the schedule and going back to other big ovals in the future.

A lot more fun to watch that race than the standing start disaster.

Read the first sentence of this when posted and bailed until today because I hadn't watched yet - had to help friends go get some car parts last Sunday.

Fascinating race, really. I imagine some people hated the first two thirds of it because it was two cars dominating. (There were two cars on the lead lap at one point!) They did a great job with the track this time, people wet two, even three wide almost instantly. Better than the Grand Farce of Australia, even if I think the FIA mostly made the right calls. The last standing start was retarded for sure.

I know it's been said by everyone and their mothers by this point, but I just cannot believe how the FIA could call a red flag and restart on a routine one-car wreck. That was Nascar under Brian France-levels of retarded and gimmicky. It seems like F1 is getting a bit too comfortable taking ideas out of Drunk Brian's playbook as of late...and if you want to see how well gimmicking up a top-tier racing series worked out for it in the long term, go turn on the Dirt Shitshow tonight.
