I'm guessing it could be next week, perhaps? Just don't quote me on it.
It is this weekend. The calendar I posted page or two back shows RoC on both Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon CET with details of where to watch.

12:00 – Race of Champions, Pite Havsbad, ROC Nations Cup

I liked Johnny, seemed to be one of the more balanced pundits they have. Hopefully his exit doesn't mean more screen time for Hill or that diversity hire bint who everyone says is an expert because trundled round at the back of a joke series.

Thank fuck PDR has fucked off though, one of the worst commentators ever in F1 and not a particularly good pundit either. The commentary for the races Brudle doesn't do might be somewhat tolerable going forwards.

Paul Di Resta was the reason why I always watched F1 using the F1TV commentary and not the world feed provided by Sky. Honestly good riddance. Now they just need to get rid of the other Hambone simp Croft, but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

Crofty ain't too bad when he's paired with someone who knows the first fucking thing about the sport. He's a good ballance to the generally calm factual commentary of Brundle and was pretty good paired with Button too.

It was god awful when it was him and PDR though, especially at the French GP when they spend like 5 laps talking about sweet on holiday with Ted after some lazy type pit stop analogy and just ignored everything happening in the race.

Here's some horrifying thoight, what happens if they decide they need diversity in commentary and shove Naomi in there. That would be unwatchable.

Fun video I came across on Twit a week or two ago. My favorite part is from 0:45 to 1:00. Brought a tear to my eye...
The video Q is shit, but the audio isn't! Turn up the volume and enjoy!!

Ahhhh, the old days when race cars sounded like race cars!

It would have been better if Sky sacked PDR and Crofty, but I guess Sky needs to keep someone on the commentary team who'll enthusiastically suck Hambone off at the drop of a hat.
Crofty is getting to be quite a fatass I noticed when they would show him with guests in the booth. Yeah, like this:

There was an even better profile angle (this quick google result works well enough tho) and I thought to myself that he is starting to rival that hillbilly Gunt dude when it comes to being a fatso.

You know, if he is vaxxed up and some major excitement occurs at some point during a race coupled with his girth he may just keel over.

Holy fuck he looks like Peter Griffin in that photo.

Is that a much older James Rolfe?

Hey, that's me!

Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being passive-aggressive while commentating.

90s CART was so great they had to invent Tony George to destroy it.

IndyCar team changes car’s number to avoid “reprehensible associations”

Posted on 27th January 2023, 21:10 | Written by Keith Collantine

IndyCar team Foyt has changed the number that one of its cars will use this year due to “ideologic and symbolic references”.

The team announced last week its driver Benjamin Pedersen had chosen to use the number 88 for his rookie campaign in the series this year. However Foyt advised media today it will replace the number due to the connotations around it.

“After the reveal of the no. 88 livery last week, it was brought to our attention that the combination of our two individually entered numbers carries certain ideologic and symbolic references,” said the team in a statement.

“AJ Foyt Racing does not condone nor support any such ideologies or symbols and to avoid any reprehensible associations we have changed the entry number from 88 to 55.”

While the team has not specified the nature of its concerns, they are likely to relate to the number’s associations within American neo-Nazi movements, particularly when combined with the number 14.

The team has long used that number, which its founder AJ Foyt had on his car when he scored the last two of his four Indianapolis 500 wins, in 1967 and 1977.

The Foyt team originally made light of Pedersen’s choice of number, announcing: “AJ Foyt will be reminded of just how old he is every time Benjamin Pedersen takes to the track this year as the racing legend turned 88 which is the number the Danish-American driver chose to run in his rookie campaign.”

Foyt confirmed Pedersen will now use number 55 instead. His team mate Santino Ferrucci was previously entered in their number 14 car.

That is intensely fucking retarded. Also kind of funny.

Especially because... It's AJ.

They have wasted a perfect opportunity to rehabilitate this disgraced double digit, for example by not annexing ground beyond track limits, or targeting other drivers of a certain ethnicity.

As it stands, the anons on /pol will be hard at work making other numbers equally problematic.

I still miss Murray Walker, he always came across as someone who loved what he was doing, which they've never been able to replicate since. I don't hate Croft, he just seems very safe, which is exactly what they want. Although the Japanese GP where they spent about 20 minutes discussing what sort of lights should be on the recovery vehicles made me want to neck myself.
