Is there a general motorsports thread? I wouldn't mind talking about Motogp or V8 Supercars around here.Welcome friend. We kinda bleed between F1 and occasionally Indycar here too.

Welcome. If you want to have a look at the past F1 here is a nice Youtube channel for youJust found this thread and I am slowly getting into motorsports. While he is retired, Kimi Râikönnen is my favorite driver. He may not have had the best performances but I find his antics quite amusing.
Whilst this thread is mainly F1, nobody seems to care too much if other motorsport gets discussed in here from time to time. For example, GT racing. Usually when there's a major event on such as 24 Hours of Nurburgring or the LeMans 24 Hour. Ofc if there's a free (or easy to pirate) live stream of such events, that's a big help.Is there a general motorsports thread? I wouldn't mind talking about Motogp or V8 Supercars around here.

Apparently their contract was not even valid in the first place.Just saw that the CRB decided that Piastri will race for Mclaren. So now Alpine has to find a new driver for 2023. Guess not only Ferrari can have a clown mode
Ehhh, FP2 doesn't really mean much. If it's the same in FP3 then it's cause for concern, but Max was probably nursing the car due to the earlier gearbox failure. And even then, it isn't really until the second half of Q2 when shit gets real. There's also of course the possibility of Ferrari/Merc gloryrunning as we saw at the start of the season.Dramatic shift from last week, hopefully they get that Red Bull set up a bit better and we can have a decent RBR vs Ferrari battle with #blersed crashing out or blowing up on the first lap.

Alright, last week Ferrari fought against debris, charging bulls Max and Checo, and of course, themselves and Alonso at the closing stages of the race.
What would be this weekend's malady for the Prancing Horse? My pick, against all odds, they manage to fit inters on Lec for a dry race.
"Okay charl... there is rain.. turn 1... rain turn 1... so box box, plan I, plan I, new set of inters"Alright, last week Ferrari fought against debris, charging bulls Max and Checo, and of course, themselves and Alonso at the closing stages of the race.

Now that I think about it, there is a plausible hypothetical scenario, if not for this race."Okay charl... there is rain.. turn 1... rain turn 1... so box box, plan I, plan I, new set of inters"
There are 2 laps left when it happens and the entire rest of the circuit is dry. A sprinkler has malfunctioned to spray the track and was quickly turned off after he pits.
I tried this one time in F1 2014 and it did not work well for me. Except it was actually raining but I guess the track wasn't wet enough. Upsetting really, that twin tusk Lotus was not getting me any points without some creativityNow that I think about it, there is a plausible hypothetical scenario, if not for this race.
"Box, box, pit confirm. Switch to inter."
"Why!? The track is dry."
"Very high chance of rain. If we go now, we can skip the queue."
Then, the skies clear up and rain never falls.

In FP1, Lewis was channeling Mazepin, driving slowly and blocking other drivers completely oblivious to his surroundings. If this race goes like last race, shit's gonna be hilarious.Dramatic shift from last week, hopefully they get that Red Bull set up a bit better and we can have a decent RBR vs Ferrari battle with #blersed crashing out or blowing up on the first lap.

And while Alonso's running in an uncontested P2, a helicopter crashes a few miles away, sending its blade into Alonso's airbox and chopping it clean off. That or the team pit him for wets when it won't rain for the next 2 weeks, and he ends up finishing P8, before penalties boot him down to P11.In FP1, Lewis was channeling Mazepin, driving slowly and blocking other drivers completely oblivious to his surroundings. Alternatively, consider the following: Lewis manages to fight his way to P3 this race. He has a decent lead over the next car, has driven a flawless race. . . and his engine just blows up due to damage sustained during the little romp last race.
As for Ferrari and how they fuck up this race?
Hard to tell, maybe another failed double-stack? Or how about a tyre switcharoo and they accidentally give Leclerc tyres from Sainz and vice versa, forcing them to pit both drivers again.
OOOH! Now I got it! Unsafe release during a pitstop, resulting in Charles crashing into Gasly, blocking the pitlane with many cars stuck, while Verstappen laps them a couple times.
Or he's the only car in the pitlane, stuck behind the crashed cars while Lewis and Gasly sissyslap each other up and down the pitwall. And while Alonso's running in an uncontested P2, a helicopter crashes a few miles away, sending its blade into Alonso's airbox and chopping it clean off.
