I'm sick of talking about this autistic fan drama but anyway, of course none of the teams will apologize for bending the knee to these attention seekers, but hopefully liberty media and the constructors will internally know not to fall for these types of guys who go crying to the teams instead of the police anymore.

True, the best thing everyone can do about this thing is just learn not to repeat the same mistake again

But that's a very optimistic thinking, isn't it?

Looks like Sainz's ICE failure was the same as Leclerc's (some nice aktually from Binotto about engine failures there too).

Ameribros... it's beginning.

If you aren't familiar with Colton he reminds me a lot of Max about two or three years ago. He's just doing some testing but there could be FP1 outings later this year.

If Danny Ric walks this year, where does he go? I think Indycar is the only answer.

And with these landwhales getting everything they wanted, F1 is now officially a terminal cancer patient.

These sort of people are a poison to any fandom. If the petrostates in the desert know what's good for their toys, they'll contain this in a hijab, but because this is the current year, guarantee they'll learn all the wrong lessons from it.

Just saw this infographic on Reddit, and it kind of says it all really:
dominant.png

Mercedes accounts for 8 of the top 15 and 3 of the top 5, which is insane for a team that has only existed since 2010. Ferrari appears three times, Red Bull twice, and Williams, who during the '90s were the most dominant team that decade by a considerable margin, appearing in virtually every title picture from 1991 - 1997, appears just once at #15.

Of course, CultLH is out in full force, playing down these fairly-damning statistics:

Yeah, no, fuck off, stop making fucking excuses. Schumacher's period of domination was from mid-2001 to the end of 2002, and then again during 2004 until he won the championship and phoned it in for the final few rounds. The FIA stepped in in 2003 to try and stop Schumi's continued domination, before finally succeeding in 2005. Hamilton's period of domination was more or less uninterrupted from 2014 - 2020 (other than the first half of 2017 and the first few rounds of 2018 with Vettel), and even during Nico's championship he still ended up with more victories. The FIA didn't challenge them once, but they did go after Red Bull and Ferrari multiple times to reduce their competitiveness.

The Hamilton dynasty is hopefully dead at last, and for good fucking reason. He dominated purely because of his machinery and the fact that no other team, other than Ferrari in '17 and the first half of '18 had any hope of competing. The FIA kept silent for SIX FUCKING YEARS while that neekeri was allowed to scoop up tens of wins every single fucking season. Ferrari had to fight FIA twice and ended up ultimately losing.

There's absolutely no way the European teams let an American into the series imo.

Haas Andretti Racing, with Herta taking the seat vacated when Mick gets picked up by Alfa Romeo? Assuming ofc that Haas needs the money and Andretti is still gagging to enter F1.

Not likely, considering the other teams are fighting Andretti tooth and nail.

... which is why it seems like a logical way for Andretti to enter F1. It wouldn't be the first time Andretti bought into a racing team to gain entry to a particular series or market, and I can't see how F1 teams can dictate who can or can't buy into competing teams.

Anyone following the current drama in Indycar? 2 teams claim to have signed Champion Alex Palou, the current team he races for and Mclaren.

CGR released a statement saying they exercised the option on his contract and included a quote from Palou. Palou says he's never made a statement.

Mclaren say they have signed him to "race for Mclaren" next year. To make things more odd, they have not specified what series him nor Felix Rosenqvist would race in.

Alex Palou holds a Superlicense.

This the first time I've heard of a drama like this in sports. Either it's a miscommunication, or some legal fuckery happening

Yeah I'm not sure how Indycar works contract wise. I dunno if the option is similar to an NFL franchise tag where you are bound to the team.

Right now if things panned out Mclaren would have 4 drivers: Palou, Rossi, Rosenqvist and Onward. MY guess would be on Rosenqvist getting punted to Formula E. It's so bizarre

Palou needs to consult those episodes of 1960s and 70s sitcoms where one of the characters ends up dating two girls on the same night, in different venues. There are workarounds.

I'm salty over Aston Martin too, the WEC gave them a lot of concessions with the new Hypercar regs so their road based Valkyrie could stand a chance against thoroughbred prototypes, this resulted in things like Glickenhaus having to switch engines mid development and weight being increased to the point that the new LMH cars are over 10 seconds slower than LMP1 and initially could barely stay ahead of the already nerfed to shit LMP2s, and then both the Valkyrie program and the GT team get cancelled all so daddy Stroll could make his useless kid feel like a real F1 driver. And that's not all, the Valkyrie LMH was eventually completed but is being sold as one of those useless track day only cars that will never race anywhere (also they had the gall to claim their unregulated shitbox would lap La Sarthe faster than any LMH car lol).
Aston's management really tried hard to make the team unlikable. My hype for their hypercar died fast as the only time we heard about the car was management wanting rule changes, and as you said, not only did this bitching compromise other outfits, it was all for fuck all as their race version never existed and their stupid road/track car has only been delivered this year. FFS, even Bykolles has built a hyper car!

But the cancellation of the GTE Pro irritated me because it happened on Christmas, and that put the GTE Pro grid in a shit place.

had no idea AMR had such a successful year in 2020, winning 26 championships and obviously two class Le Mans wins.
and here we are, with the only official Aston Racing team being a bottom/mid tier operation represented by a stroller and Seb, whose heart has not been in it when it became clear the Ferrari dream is over IMO.

Who do we think will have the better career: Piastri or Mick Schumacher

It should be Oscar, wins F3 and F2 back to back as a rookie but he needs a seat. A reserve driver role isn't what it used to be, back in the day you'd be pounding round a test track in the current car getting actual experience, not shut in a simulator waiting for a phone call because someone has gone ill or doing the odd track day in an old car. He hasn't even done a FP1 session yet.

Besides the real answer is Logan Sargeant.
