Apparently, Gasly didn't serve his 5-sec penalty during the race, but I couldn't find anything so far what effect that has.
Afaik, not serving a penalty used to mean a full disqualification, but maybe they decided to add the 5 seconds to his race-time?

Anyone got infos on that? All I can find via google is people giving Hamilton a reach-around for his great drive (never mind that his teammate fought his way through the entire midfield to end up just one place behind him)

Hamilton has had three lucky podiums in a row thanks to attrition. Canada because of Perez's gearbox and Leclerc's penalty, Britain because of Perez's lap one mishap, Russell's crash, Verstappen's car getting crippled, Leclerc's damage and poor team strategy, and now here because of Sainz's engine exploding, Russell's bad start and Perez's retirement. It's getting quite tiresome.

My understanding is that if you don't serve the penalty, if, say, you aren't going to pit again, it is added to your time, yes.

I saw a message pop up saying no further action, but not sure what actually happened.

1: Pretty much nobody dies anymore. Yeah, sometimes it happens, but very infrequently. Thus people don't quit before they get killed, or stay in until they're killed. There used to be a ton more churn, now we marvel (for some reason) at twilight career dudes in their mid 40s. In the old days, people who stayed in for more than a few years had to have just the right combo of skill and extreme luck, the Foyts, Andrettis and Pettys of the world.
Feels like we are going back to the roots of F1 where it was basically an old men drivers club. Keep in mind though that in that old times there was no real junior racing scene which came years later (I think Emerson Fittipaldi was one of the first young guns)

Average driver age has "concertina'd" over time. What we have now is probably the oldest field since the early '70s when Graham Hill was still around.
Lewis Hamilton, who most fans and pundits view as having a good 3 - 4 competitive seasons left in him, is already the same age Schumacher was when many considered him too old to continue. Between Mansell's final drive for McLaren in 1995 and Schumi's return in 2010, there was no-one on the F1 grid 40 or older, at least not to my knowledge.

You get rid of the guys whose parents are paying for their seats, you have fewer teams. Williams doesn't exist anymore if Latifi's dad stops paying to keep the lights on. Same with Aston Martin and papa Stroll. Aston Martin the car brand is different than the F1 team. They would just pull out rather than float the entire cost.
well Audi and some driver from the US both want a team of their own...

It's Michael Andretti, Mario's son. On the Audi front, after McLaren told them to do one, they apparently are now looking at Aston Martin. I think it could work out that way, plus it's better than Stroll.

Still torn over the use of Audi for the F1. I would have prefered they use the Lamborghini brand instead of Audi. Yes yes I know audi has a long and proud history of racing but that was always in endurance, rallye and touring cars. I don't know Audi just doesn't clcik for me in F1

I heard they were buying sauber?

And Porsche are rumoured to be picking up red bull power trains.

I just don't see why they haven't ok'd andretti yet.

Apparently, the problem is that the FIA and Liberty don't want to increase the prize pot to accommodate an 11th team.
IMO they should design the pot so the maximum would go to the car that came in 10th. 11th would still get the most time in the wind tunnels and CFD but they would only receive the same amount of money as the team that came 9th. I think it would be nuts for them to deny Andretti's entry when he's as big of a name as it gets from north America.

I really don't understand why there isn't the same set of stewards every weekend for F1.

Zhou has been solid
Not really. He's earned 5 points all season (2 of those gifted to him from Alonso's penalty at Canada) from just 2 points finishes (along with 5 outside of the top 10). Bottas in comparison has earned 46, and even if you factor in how Zhou's been a bit more unfortunate with reliability, he's still not pushing the car as hard as it can be. The Alfa is clearly the second-best Ferrari-engined car, faster than the HAAS, and Bottas has already proved that (otherwise Magnussen would be ahead/equal/maybe slightly behind in the WDC), and Schumacher has had a very unlucky season yet now finds himself 10 points clear of Zhou in inferior machinery.

Unless he can prove that it was just bad luck (as Mick has done) and finish solidly in the next few races, I don't see Alfa holding onto him longer than necessary.

I have a suggestion to make your piss boil with rage and your blood freeze in a panic at the same time.

FIA will allow Andretti racing only when they do a partnership:
Hamilton Andretti Racing
