The more corporate 'sorry, not sorry' double-speak, and media training platitudes, that Mercedes and Hamilton engage in, the more pathetic they will appear. It's probably beginning to dawn on them now that throwing their toys out of the pram in public was a poorly thought out strategy.
Things like this tarnish that crowd surfing leak - instead of cool boss that knows how to loosen up, now people will think that Toto really did pass out in puddle of puke next to the toilet and spent the next day raging at the FIA while badly hungover and completely buck broken.

"That was... so... not right!" *retch* "Get Lewis on the phone!" *retch* "We don't need these guys in our lives"

Damn it must be crazy to be a max fan who gives a shit about what salty lewis fans say about f1 being rigged.
Salty Hambone fans seem to come in two flavours: Americans that bought into Hambone's story as a result of DTS, and Britbongs with a misplaced sense of superiority (particularly wrt sports). The latter are the same faggots that still get a chubby about England winning the World Cup in 1966, and carried on as though they'd just won Champions Of Everything In The Universe when they got to the Euro 2020 final even though they got beaten by Italy lol.

English sports fans are world class cunts and there's a reason why the rest of the world hate them with a passion. There's a reason why Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own national teams wherever possible rather than being lumped in with England under the catch-all that is Britain. There's also a reason why the most based British racing drivers have been Scots (Clark, Stewart, Coulthard, McRae etc).

The problem we have us the loud cunts everywhere that the media thinks is the average fan so panders to, those cunts are then the ideal sports journos because well you need to be one of those to sell your media. Then those same cunts are the ones who fawn over young athletes giving them the inflated ego you always see in British sports stars. For every England football fan you'll find someone who wants them to get knocked out ASAP to halt the nonstop cuntery for a bit.

I seriously doubt Hamilton will walk from F1 in the short term. I think he had pencilled his name in for that 8th win in his head and can't believe Masi didn't personally walk him to the chequered flag

Kimi , Hunt, both had the one win, but I suspect they will be more warmly remembered than Hamilton .
Nobody is concerned where they were born much
Lauda almost lost his life and most of his face but came back despite that
Losing a reasonable racing call is nothing in comparison ,especially when you've been gifted a fair number of titles and lots of cash for just driving against your team mate

Losing the race isn't the end but looking like a sore loser might be

Newey The background winner and good to see him back

I would be happy if Mercedes left the sport and took Toto Schwarzenegger sound alike with them but it ain't gonna happen .
I've rerun the last lap few times the only regrettable thing about it is totos voice in the background complaining ,' it isn't right Michael ' as max goes ahead of Sir Whingealot
declaring to bono, its manipulated

Perhaps Mercedes can extend their no show at events when they don't win to include no show at the races themselves

I wonder how people will feel if Max goes to Mercedes for the 2024 season?

Lewis likely retires at the end of 2023, and Max will be in a very similar position as Michael Schumacher was in 1995, when it appeared as though he was head and shoulders above the next best guy, whoever that was.

The cheque books will very much be open for Max.

Thinking it over today, the idea of banning Mercedes or Hamilton from the first race next season is growing more and more on me.
Surely, a total ban on participation would be the ultimate fuck-you to the team, but in terms of personal consequences a ban for Lewis (but not Russel) would be terrible for Hamilton, since it would allow Russel to drive balls to the wall, gain some points and give Mercedes a bit of an incentive to rethink who their top driver next season should be.

In either case, no sports almanach, no encyclopedia, no article, no book, no movie, nothing will ever mention the season 2022 and start with "Mercedes/Hamilton was barred from participation due to a significant rule violation against the FIA code of driver conduct."

These fuckheads want to put an asterisk on the 2021 champion title? Put a giant fucking asterisk on the 2022 season and on their personal portfolio :story:

I guess basketball players should just leave their side of the court undefended and outfielders shouldn't catch a Barry Bonds flyball.
Dude, any defensive move is "aggressive" and "dangerous". Also anything influencing a game's or race's outcome is automatically VERBOTEN, therefore whoever whines the loudest must be allowed to win unopposed.

Are you kidding me? That was the best part, it had perfect comedic timing. If they ever make a movie about this season, it could not be scripted any better. The whiny douchebag that complains about his driver losing, just as the overtake happens. It was glorious.

Confused. I don't think the driver changeup at the top is as wild as it used to be in the past. Max is RB's golden child, I doubt they'd be willing to let go unless he disappoints them severely (and in that case, he would not be of interest to Mercedes either)... or they'd have to dish out a surreal amount of money, and it's cheaper to just go with their own programm. Remember, driver salaries are part of the cost-cap now.

Aren't driver salaries capped, too?

Feel sorry for anyone on the F1 subreddit who's a fan from (or even knows a bit about) the pre-hybrid era. Must be like being a 60 year old fan of Chelsea and Man Utd - you can remember vividly what it was once like and now it's a bunch of the worst, disinterested tourists ever.

Max has a 3rd place or better in constructors clause in his contract too. But I think he loves red bull after they brought him in so early and developed with him, and they love him too, so when red bull and mercedes are both at the top i don't see max wanting to jump ship. You never know with these contracts though.

That clause kinda raises an interesting point: Do we know if Hamilton's contract contains a clause that allows him to leave the team if he doesn't get the driver's championship?

I doubt that he'd quit even if it did, but people raised the point that Hamilton has signed a 2 year contract to emphasize that he's contractually obligated to continue... well... what if he wasn't? lol

That would be pretty unrealistic and arrogant, so I imagine it at least crossed his mind. I wonder if there's a "Toto wipes my ass for me" clause in there too.

Found new footage of the most important overtake of the season:

Check out the marshal's cheering 8)

The angle also shows how brilliantly the overtake was done and how insane the cars accelerate out of a slow hairpin turn. The way how these cars just fly away is something else.

News in the F1 world is Toto has had some meeting with Vasseur (team principal of alfa romeo), there is some info about Vasseur having a meeting with Giovinazzi's manager too. The natural conclusion is Merc wanting Bottas back and Alfa trying to get Gio back for some of that sweet ferrari money.

Could be (and likely is) just standard gossip bullshit or it could be Toto honestly not knowing Hambone's plans and setting up a plan B.

If there's even a skerrick of truth to this, here's hoping that Alfa and/or Bottas tell Toto to pound sand.

In the unlikely even that Hambone rage quits and Toto is caught with his pants down, Mercedes should just take George and Latifi as a package deal. Highly unlikely given the outcome of the 2021 WDC, but it'd give Mercedes the best shot at making George look way better than he actually is. (not that I'm saying George isn't good...but he'd look way better paired up with a hopeless team mate)

Audi tells FIA it intends to confirm F1 entry early next year

Posted on 20th December 2021, 15:22 | Written by Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine

Audi intends to confirm early next year its plans to enter to Formula 1, the manufacturer has advised the sport and its governing body, the FIA.

Audi board chairman Markus Duesmann and Audi Technical Development board member Oliver Hoffmann indicated the manufacturer is satisfied with the progress the FIA has made with new technical regulations for the 2026 power units.

F1 is seeking a new manufacturer to join Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault following the departure of Honda, whose engines will now be prepared by Red Bull. Two Volkswagen Group brands, Audi and Porsche, have shown interest, and the former has now indicated it is close to making a commitment.

In a letter sent on Tuesday Duesmann and Hoffmann told F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and outgoing FIA president Jean Todt they believe the draft regulations offer a fair compromise for newcomers and existing competitors, as well as meeting the objectives agreed for the new power units.

The FIA World Motor Sport Council subsequently confirmed the 2026 power units will retain the existing 1.6-litre V6 engines and increase the amount of electrical energy they can generate, while doing away with the expensive MGU-H. Power unit costs will also be capped for the first time.

The management board and supervisory board of Audi will now decide whether to formally approve its entry into the championship.

In an apparent swipe to rivals Mercedes, Duesmann and Hoffmann opened their the letter – seen by RaceFans – by congratulating Todt on what it regarded as a fair conclusion to this year’s Formula 1 championship. They referred specifically to the final lap, on which Max Verstappen passed Lewis Hamilton to clinch the title following a controversial restart, which Mercedes considered appealing against for four days before backing down.

Best case of all would be Toto managing to wangle Ocon out of his Alpine contract into that merc and then there is a seat for Piastri. It's a disgrace Piastri hasn't got a seat for 22.

Would be nice to have another contractor as long as they give it a fair shake rather than rage quit after a couple of mediocre results like a lot of new constructor teams seem to.

Toto so afraid His Royal Magestly Loowis will bail on him that hes trying to get back the driver hes treated like shit for years? Please please be true.

Also, Valtteri. Please tell Wolff to fuck off. I would love to see merc panicking to fill that second seat and getting dunked on by Haas for half a season.

Best case of all would be Toto managing to wangle Ocon out of his Alpine contract into that merc and then there is a seat for Piastri.
Good luck with that. Alpine seem hell bent on having at least one French driver in their team at all times. IMHO he'd have more luck convincing them to let go of Alonso. Ignoring the fact that it's Mercedes and Toto is a colossal faggot, it'd be nice to see a team with a future WDC at the beginning of his career complemented by a former WDC in the twilight of his career.
It's a disgrace Piastri hasn't got a seat for 22.
Agreed.
