Feel like Carlos might have a solid shot at a driver's title next year if Ferrari manages to get the car right. He did manage to beat Leclerc in just his first year with the team.
Sainz certainly has the talent to do it, now let's see if Ferrari can actually give him a car that'll keep up with his skills.

Though I fear Ferrari is going to be a shitshow next season. Two strong drivers and we know Ferrari has a bad track record of dealing with that. Could be they constantly throw one driver under the bus in favor of the other and given that both Leclerc and Sainz are absolutely amazing and likeable, it doesn't matter who'll end up on top, I will feel bad for the other.

He kept Max relatively honest in their time as team mates, something few have managed and now he's kept Charles honest in the same car. Carlos has always been a massively underrated driver and I really hope he gets the car to show what he's got.

Will be interesting to see just how far Merc goes with trying to get it back. I hope they don't, but should be loads of laughs if they do start crying hardcore.
TBH I'm struggling to process Max winning the 2021 WDC. I can see Merc taking this to court.

I'm glad I slept through this one. I don't think I would have been able to handle the drama had I watched it live. Although I do wish I'd seen Toto's REEEEEEEing and Checo proving once again to RBR and Max that he's the best wingman on the grid.

I also think that Masi's polite reply to Toto was a career limiting move. I can't see him being a Chief Steward F1 Race Director next season.

They can try but Thursday is the FIA announcement of the champion and once that's announced the rules say it can't be reverted under any circumstances. That's not a lot of time to draft arguments, submit them, have them heard and get a court to reach a decision.
If anyone has the wherewithal to hire enough lawyers to crank out a legal challenge and get an urgent injunction issued to postpone the FIA announcement until the court has enough time to make a final decision on the 2021 WDC, it's Merc. You just know that Toto is barking orders at M-B's legal counsel as we speak.

I get it's Russell's new team and team mate but I think he might need to get a bit more PR savvy if he's going to be playing at the top.

Don't start out your merc career as a whinger.

I hope one (or all) of McLaren, Alpine and Aston Martin make a beast of a car next season. Honestly I would celebrate any of their drivers winning the championship.

Of course we're all really hoping for a Brawn saga with Haas.

A beast of an Alfa Romeo would be great too, Bottas lapping Hamilton on his way to winning the championship would be glorious.

Basically anything other than mercedes dominance would be great.

Imma be real with you George: you’re going to be the number two at Mercedes for as long as Hamilton’s still around.

Yep, McClaren would be good to see return to a long lost previous form for top tier racing , Williams likewise bit harder to imagine currently
Alfa , even the old minardi team, anyone but Mercedes
8 consecutive constructors isn't racing . And that's what it's supposed to be about The fans know this, even the FIA appear to be getting the message

I find it staggering that Sky commentator reporting that the initial objection was that max had overtaken Hamilton while under the safety car . He did a screen view of the cars which for a nano second had max possibly an inch or two ahead but its for a second and Hamilton clearly starts in front and it's really a desperate claim by Mercedes

Listening to Hamilton's radio with Bono , Bono tells him the other cars are going through and then briefly states the opposite before returning to the original claim the cars are going through and max will be behind him when they are released on final lap
Hamilton queries why he couldn't pit stop.,Bono...you would have lost position says bono . So Mercedes understood back markers would be let through and max would be right behind Hamilton with just one lap but decided not to pit and lose position
The inch in front claim for a second if correct is petty

The situation to date is that Mercedes have issued a notice of intention to appeal today's decisions which rejected their claims . Standard time allowed is 96 hours to lodge an official appeal ,4 days which just coincidentally happens to be the confirmation ceremony on Thursday which as coccxys has pointed out is the cut off point after which the FIA cant act . If Mercedes wanted to protest beyond that it would be to a sporting body outside the FIA

I suppose like many others I feel Mercedes coming armed with their QC to the race doesn't look good for the sport . Safety cars are just the luck of the draw and Mercedes have benefited from numerous calls in their favour . As for George he's hardly in an impartial position given he joins Mercedes next season .

Its likely Mercedes will put in their claim tomorrow or Tuesday .

They've got the drivers to give the Constructor's Championship a good shake, and I can see Lando being a real WDC contender by the middle of the decade. All McLaren needs now are the cars.

That's why I suspect that M-B is looking at every possible option outside of the FIA framework to have this year's WDC confirmation delayed. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they attempted to bypass the FIA's judicial system and went straight to the French courts, as FIA HQ is in Paris and therefore under French jurisdiction.

I can see George taking over from Hambone as the sport's whiny faggot that is the object of Crofty's affection the English love just because he's English, but manages to give everyone else the shits.

I'd go as far as to say that the 2026 WDC will probably be between Lando and George, which will cause British F1 fans and pundits to have existential crises because they won't know who to support. Although Crofty will probably end up being spitroasted by them, because Rule Britannia.

As unlucky as Lewis was in the last race, he was very lucky when Bottas damaged Max's car in Hungary and Vettel who had finished ahead of Lewis in Hungary, also getting disqualified.

This also doesn't take into account Max's tyre blowing up at Azerbaijan or Lewis taking Max out at Silverstone.

I can see why Mercedes are replacing Bottas, if he was up to the job, he could have been in 2nd and protected Lewis from Max.

I can remember in years gone past when David Coulthard & Eddie Irvine for McLaren and Ferrari respectively, provided great cover for their leading teammates.

It is amazing how few times this year, Bottas was able to take points away from Max, without crashing into him.

So, does the whole "Stiff Upper Lip" thing that the Brits like to jerk off about not apply to being whiny faggots or are George and Lewis merely abnormalities?
To be fair, most cunts in Motorsports complain like crazy and are always looking to get away with as much as possible.

So whilst I regard what George said as being really pathetic, I probably won't hold that against him too much.

I'm sure Mclaren wished they had the car . Though they are currently second tier runners its not the same as being right up front and it can be a huge gap to bridge Without the right car even the best drivers are going to struggle . Its very much a ££££ sport now . I'm not sure how much cash Hesketh racing had when Hunt drove for them but probably fractional of today's team outlay even adjusting for inflation

My personal view is I look at the drivers and the teams not their nationality particularly .Its about racing and I would really like to see other teams competing with the front runners because those who follow racing deserve a good race regardless of nationality
People I suspect like Kimi not because he's from Finland or indeed any country for that matter but for his approach to racing . He likes F1 driving he says but hates the rest of the stuff that goes with it
As John Milner said when Harrison Ford character crashed and toad told him he was the winner..,.but I was losing ...
Sad to see Kimi go and DNF

I can't see Mercedes getting traction with this , either on or out of FIA
They are just going to look sore losers

George appears to have jumped full throttle into team Mercedes even before he's formerly left Williams. Its an unnecessary bad!y judged comment that won't age well. Mercedes see him as their number 1 after Hamilton departs I would guess

Toto in full radio rant sounds like Bill Hader doing an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression

Oh dear. The race director job has got to be one of the worst out there and Masi has done a decent job. Plus it appears the change faggots don't even know what he does.

Has his decision making always been perfect for the sport? No, but who's is?

Has his decision making always been perfect for safety? Probably yes, he's always been on top of everything, you always see him down checking out the barriers after a big crash supervising the repairs. On the balance of his tenure I would say he's made more right than not by a good distance.

More importantly he's handled the constant whinging by the two main teams fighting for the championship like a champ telling them to fuck off as appropriate. He's taken so much pressure off the stewards by being that buffer telling teams if they need to give places back or just shutting them down.

It's a pity we didn't have the FIA radio when whiting was around, would have been interesting to see the different approaches.

I met Jeff Gordon when I was a little kid. He held me up on his shoulders. I vaguely remember it being an executive room at some football stadium if I remember correctly. But it’s been so long ago and I was so young.
