Surely Mazepin is going to hit the wall at some point. Perhaps multiple times!
ftfy
The only action seems like it's going to come from mistakes.
And DRS. Don't forget the "push button - receive position" magic of modern F1!
Looking how narrow it is I doubt its going to be a saftey car so much as a red flag because any car shedding its carbon will just effectively block the track.
Given that any crash will happen at high speeds, parts of the car will be strewn all across the racetrack. Thinking about it, I now hope nothing big happens. Shit could cascade into a major accident in no time. Blind highspeed corners, anyone spinning could lead to a repeat of the Anthoine Hubert accident. Tilke truly outdid himself. A boring racetrack without opportunities to overtake - but this imte it's also a lethal threat to the drivers and marshals.

In general, I would not be surprised to see a repeat of Baku with a high-speed tyre failure, this track is going to devour rubber.

Q1 is going to be mayhem from the evidence of the two practice sessions.

Once again while hambone seeths and dilates with a rainbow helmet and cries about muh fags Seb actually does something to make a difference.

So glad to find this thread, I wish I'd found it years ago. I'm definitely here for the Seb and Alonso love and Max respect.

Jeddah looks really fast but so narrow and bendy that it can't have much opportunity for overtaking. Qualifying position is going to matter so much. I like street circuits but this looks more like a Monaco than a Baku as an actual competition and spectacle.

Sky had an 'audio up' of one of Hamilton's laps and every time it switched to his driver's view camera it looked utterly terrifying and utterly exhilarating. That lurching feeling in your stomach just watching what these guys do is quite something.

It does look dangerous, but the F2 qualifying was really exciting and didn't have any catastrophes, so hopefully it's just a great weekend. I loved Bottas's radio message saying how much he loved the track.

Looking forward to the weekend, and if there's still all to play for at the end of it then at least Abu Dhabi might be slightly more interesting than usual.

Saw a comment saying that Jeddah is Monaco at 320kph. That is legit terrifying.

I bet some slave-owner trillionaire sheikh bought himself the agreement to have an F1 race and then he went to Tilke and told him to make him a racetrack that's super fast and narrow, cause this fucking sheikh has no clue about F1 or racing in general and he thinks fast and narrow will make the track look cool, while it offers zero opportunities to overtake.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but this racetrack doesn't look like there's going to be much excitement from overtaking and maybe some really bad drama from an accident.

Well you see he was losing the dick swinging contest with his play boy mates over in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi etc so had to buy something. Not that I blame them, if I had that sort of fuck you money I'd be having my own grand prix (though I'd include a "virtue signalling negro" clause that would cost them a fortune if Hamilton opened his mouth).

Also when you decide to be perpetual virtue signaller you have to bend the knee on everything

Looks a hair raising circuit for the penultimate race of the season which currently seems likely to go down to the final race unlike some recent years

Doesn't look much room for overtaking but will wait and see

I hope nobody offends the Crown Prince, during the event or he may send in his bodyguard with a bone saw again

With two races to go I'd quickly like to remind those taking part in the fantasy league most of you guys have a mega driver left, especially @Full Race Replay.
LOL, I actually just used both of mine before I logged in to the Farms! Good reminder indeed! Are you still doing fairly well in the main leagues man?

What I am waiting to see is if we get a controversial end to the season. I hope not for the sports sake, but for potential laughs and hilarity with the one wronged crying about it would be fine too if that is how it all plays out.

Making no predictions at all, anything can happen.

No... My second half of the season mirrors lando's. Still top 5% by my dreams of free tickets to a gp are gone.
Yeah, I saw you took a bit of a hit in one race and that is usually all it takes to set you back that you cant really recover.

But even top 10% would be a fantastic achievement in the main league. So yeah, you did extremely well and unless your main competitor does something astonishing, you pretty much have the title of KF Champion sewn up! I have a slim outside shot of catching your team 2 to make top 3, but have to win huge with my MD and TD getting top 3 results this race to extend my chances to the final race. One of Rod's teams is only 80 behind me so I could just as easily fall to 5th! The battle for the top though is between you and FRR that's a given.

This has potential to be a good race given the confines and layout of the track. One mistake can fuck your day. I don't know if I would want to be the hunter or hunted. If guy behind is giving serious heat where you have to focus too much on defending, that's when you can lose out as your focus isn't purely on staying away from the walls.

We shall see how it all plays out soon enough!

Qualifying will be a bitch I reckon.
When you can't see where the other drivers are, conflicts between those on a hotlap and those on slow laps are unavoidable. You just come flying down around a corner and there's a slow car less than 50m ahead.

Expect drama, maybe even a red flag.

Edit:
What the hell is wrong with Aston Martin? They are so slow, the race is going to be a desaster.
Also, like I said, drama, Verstappen ran into heavy traffic and had to abandon a very good lap...

And this track is worse than Sochi, my fucking god. It's not just shit for a lack of opportunities to overtake, it also fucking sucks for the spectator - the cameras have barely any room to actually film what's going on. All you will ever see in this race is endless shots of cars going past a camera and vanishing around a corner.

If the race tomorrow turns out as badly as I expect, I am not going to bother watch the race on this track next season. This is a fucking travesty.

Wow man, I hope the race tomorrow provides you with enjoyment tomorrow. I hear ya, it would suck to have a shitty race, but I still try and find some enjoyment out of it! LOL

As we just saw, a mistake can fuck you hard. Wrong guy made the mistake today sadly.

Only thing RBR can hope for is that there's no gearbox damage. That was a lap of the gods until the final corner.
That's really an important question as they really don't need a 5 place grid penalty

Max seems to quite like p3 rather than p2 but assuming no gear box change he's going to have to get past bottas fairly quickly as bottas being courted by Hamilton with big praise for tomorrow ,presumably to keep max at bay and to allow Hamilton to build up a lead
According to Mr ginger spice ,Horner , max was up 4 tenths going into that corner before he hit the wall

Watched the F2 sprint and overtaking looks hard, but not Monaco level impossible.

Another thing to note, Daniel has got a bit of controversy since he basically admitted to not watching the news and not giving a shit about racing in Saudi.

In the words of Charles Barkley: "I'm not a role model... Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids.”

Feigning ignorance (or indeed actually being ignorrant) of blatant human rights violations of a nation like saudi barbaria is a bit disappointing, but given that Daniel isn't huffing his own farts about his political messages like a certain other driver does, it's... well... it's still not ideal, but it could be worse.

I don't think Daniel is feigning ignorance. Aussies just don't tend to watch the news all that closely.

If Hambone wears his rainbow helmet during this race, I may regain just a tiny bit of respect for him. "May" and "tiny" being the operative words.

I feel like the only way to make these street races interesting is to dump vegetable oil on half of the turns... I mean the rain DID manage to make Sochi much more intriguing
Jeddah might be a decent racetrack, if it wasn't closed off by walls that make it impossible for a driver to see ahead. If it was an open regular track, maybe with some hills and crests, it would be way more promising. The layout for Jeddah itself is decent I guess, but when the driver can't see what's going on ahead and any inch off the track means immediate damage, they won't take risks, so we might not see any overtakes. Maybe I am wrong and the 3 DRS zones will allow the drivers to overtake one another rather nicely, but I doubt it.

Edit:

Found a nice side-by-side video of Hamilton's pole lap and Verstappen's last lap.

This was the difference before the last corner:
difference in speed.png

Check out how far ahead Verstappen is on his lap, that's at least two car lengths. A shame he didn't make the last turn, this would have been legendary... but at least this bodes well for the race, the RB (or should I say Max?) has tremendeous speed on this track.
