Of course I loaded up one of my teams with AT and both drivers. Should have went with Alpine.

Nice to see another new podium entrant! Alonso drove great, and with 25 points, I think that seals it for 5th in WCC for Alpine. Take mighty results from AT last 2 races now. They should have been battling for 4th with Ferrari and McL the way they looked beginning of the year.

Its all going down to the wire it looks like unless something catastrophic happens in Saudi to one of the top 2, in both championships.

Actually, should we wait to see if there are any potential penalties after scrutineering?? LOLOL

Hamilton 1st with fatmstest lap and Max 2nd in Saudi Arabia means equal points for Abu Dhabi. It would be the second time ever Abu Dhabi could actually be an interesting gp (the first time was the Alonso, Webber, Vettel 3 way fight. That said I would prefer for Hambone to score nothing in Saudi and Max win the championship.

Same here but it was ferrari for me. :(

Best would be tied going into the last race, Hamilton on pole, then breaks down on formation lap.

I hope Merc have switched too much focus to beating Max this season. If they had an easy run like in 2020 then they would have been able to focus everything on their 2022 car. Because of Max's speed this year they have definitely been diverting R&D from next year to this year. Let's hope that cripples the Mercedes programme for many seasons to come.

Congrats to Alonso on getting a podium. TBH I thought he was past it, but I don't mind being proven wrong.

Well done to Max for rising above the bullshit of this round, and finishing very competitively on a track that favours Mercedes.
Well at least the "vestappen will struggle to get on the podium" doomering from sky pundits was bullshit.
I would tell Crofty to go suck a big black greasy dick, but he already does that at every opportunity.
Pirelli say tyre will go 30 laps
Mercedes run the tyre for 33 laps
Tyre falls apart
*suprised pikachu*
It's almost as though Baku never happened. Mercedes must really be rattled if they're making schoolboy errors like that.

Alonso has shown his skill in many starts, where he reacted in record time and shot past the competition I think.
Happy for Alonso to have such a great race.

And I just have to voice my admiration for Verstappen, dude sounded super relaxed in the post-race radio and said that he enjoyed the race. You'd think he might be tense with this championship being on the line, but he's super laid back about it.

Even if Hambone wasn't an insufferable prick, I'd still be rooting for Max just because of how chill he's been this season.

Yeah. Remember when Hamilton said that Max is rattled to the bone about the championship and how it wears down on his shoulders and Max pretty much just laughed it off saying it didn't matter to him? Good times.

Max is a bit of a shithead at times, but there is no doubt that he's one of the best drivers the sport has ever seen. I'm really not a fan of his, but his skills and talent are beyond question as far as I am concerned.

Max is definitely up there with best of them on the track, and the best is probably still yet to come.

Off-track, I wouldn't necessarily write him off as a person just yet. Schumacher was a bit of a shithead at times (and also one of the greats), but he turned out to be a good guy IRL. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Max ends up going down the same philanthropy path that greats like Schumy and Senna did.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I hate the guy or think he's unlikeable, he just had his moments here and there where I think he put his elbows out when it might have been smarter not to. And his worst moments where in his rookie seasons when he'd divebomb aggressively... but he has become much more levelheaded with only very faint moments of him being a bit too aggressive (imo), but overall, he's definetly a legend in the making and as you said: Schumacher, arguably also Senna and many other legendary rivers, had moments where they did something stupid or silly.

As long as he doesn't go down the "please put a rubber tube in my cockpit seat so I can huff my own farts while I drive" Hamilton-route, everything's dandy.

This is one of the best F1 documentaries I've seen in a while. If you're old enough to remember March or Leyton House, you'll find this especially interesting. TBH I'm shocked at how few subscribers this channel has, although that said he only produces about two videos a year (but they're well worth waiting for).

Hamilton has set the bar in that regards. It would take a lot for anyone to even approach that level of insufferable.

For example Vettel is absolutely full on the sustainability, recycling etc bandwagon but is not a straight up douche about it. Probably something to do him actually having a likable personality to begin with and then walking the walk with the litter picking and activities with various schools rather than expecting others to do his bidding.

Ricciardo had an absolute shit-race last week... guess what? He spent the entire race trying to save fuel, cause something glitched out and suggested that either his consumption was too high or the fuel too low (I'm not sure which).

What a shame. Dude had to drive so slow, the brakes and tyres ran too cold, so on top of a lack of engine power, the car became harder to keep on the track. Hope they figure out what went wrong and get it fixed.

Catalunya has signed a new deal until 2026.

Nice to have the OP with us! Been awhile I think!

So boys, this track seems like it might produce some good action. Apparently you are at full throttle for 79% of the lap! And as it is a street circuit, there is not much run off! Here is an onboard F12021 lap of it:
Surely someone is going to hit the wall at some point. Perhaps multiple! I mean there is really only the last and first corner that could be considered a heavy braking corner. And they aren't really that heavy. Its crazy, might make for some spicy action and another goofball race. If there are crashes, I'd imagine long safety car period ala Singapore, unless they have their shit together and have a good removal team/system.

And I see Lewis is being pretty hard on SA and their laws and way they treat women. So, kudos for stepping up to do that.

After wtching practice 1 I've no idea where the overtakes are happening. It's tight and has hardly any big braking zones for outbraking. The only action seems like it's going to come from mistakes.

Hopefully it turns out to be a high tyre drop off circuit then strategy can play a part (though if you can't overtake you won't really get an undercut anyway), or someone works out where they can overtake.

Looking how narrow it is I doubt its going to be a saftey car so much as a red flag because any car shedding its carbon will just effectively block the track.
