i didn't watch the full thing myself. some other things i would like to mention:
- when they did the audition stream in January the ETA was the game would be probably at least a year out
- he did re-clarify his earlier statements about it not being for the fishtank audience; they want to broaden the appeal to the general gamer (meaning they removed "soy" references and scrapped things like "greg" or "jimmy" being named playable characters)
- part of the reason he is showing it is so he has the possibility to work on the game on stream to help with progress (mentioned doing a weekly mapping session)
i rarely watch more than a few minutes of their streams but jet mentioned that season 6 is in the far distance (months off) and they still need to acquire a new location to host.
they frequently review the submissions on stream (repeats of former "OK'd" applicants but also other duplicates between them alongside new ones). the stated goal is to use the fans for off-season content for which many slots have to be filled (to be in the house, RV stream, autist girlfriend sim, etc.).
