Let's not get carried away here. Most contestants have been a little odd maybe, but they're basically just regular young people trying to find their place in the world. Your average freaks and geeks.
Then In addition to that you always have a few mega spergs like Jon, Burt and Jimmy thrown in there, which are really the exception, but they stand out so much that they probably skew people's perception of the cast a little bit.

Doesn't help that the biggest spergs are the ones the fanbase remembers the most. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's forgotten about people like Cole, Vance and Sylvia.

To be fair Burt is a mentally ill man with a sex addiction and all he ever did was pleasure himself alone. Him finding Payton attractive isn't an issue, but to act on it would be. Jet on the otherhand is not a schizo yet he decided to cast an 18 year old with the explicit goal of grooming her on his toture show. Furthermore his grooming is causing direct damage to her future as despite her having a full ride to college, Jet is trying to convince her not to go and instead be a "editor" under him.

TDLR, Burt just burts off and is mentally ill vs Jet mentally normal, totures, grooms, peforms live puppy play, and ruins college future.
