With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I don't think it's coming back and I'm somewhat doubtful there will be a new season. It feels like it ran it's course.

However, they took investor money so they have to keep delivering now. So maybe they'll just phone it in.

I didn't watch S1 live so I can't comment on S1 but every other season he has phoned it in at some point, usually towards the end. S3 and Bloodgames he certainly had better performances than the other seasons, but even during those there were times when he just couldn't be bothered being in character and just sat around. All you need to do is compare him to someone like Jan to understand my point, Sam is just not as good at doing live/improv stuff as he is at doing scripted/edited sketches.

The show is currently in limbo after being cancelled due to gross incompetence. I'm not sure why you are surprised people are being critical of the show during this time, it is pretty clear why. If noone ever talked about the positives of the show there wouldn't be 4000 pages, this is just cope.

Sam is not even remotely close to being one of the main issues of the show (most of which stem from Jet) but every season he hits a point where he is obviously bored with the show and starts phoning it in and the quality of the show declines. Even if that is a very human behavior you can still critique him for it. Of course Sam was the main draw to the show in the first place but the concept is why people stick around and keep watching even when Sam goes MIA for days at a time.

AFAIK, Chris Hansen is still broke, he would be an incredible guest for a bit like pretending the fish are the decoys for a reboot of To Catch A Predator or pretending one of the fish is actually caught in a To Catch A Predator sting. But I assume it would be a pain in the ass to negotiate with him and/or it would hit too close to home for Sam

Bloodgames made me like Jet. He was humble in it, and he rolled with a lot of the jokes. It's a shame he just went back to S2 Jet.

There is no new location or new season yet because this is what Jet is doing instead. Quite impressive for Jet "The Raping Blob" Neptune to have 3 sets of DMs leaked in the ~2 months since S4 was cancelled.
