The current state of Fishtank: Jin is the only person live watching 2 Girls 1 Cup to 23 viewers. Is this the Neptunian content people speak of?

who would be a good mainstream YouTuber/celeb to run/host fishtank?
There are a few people who would make fantastic hosts/showrunners...
if they could handle the "nigger" word. That is unfortunately the biggest hurdle.

An ideal for Fishtank would be to have Sam come in at key points, he doesn't need to be there every day. The rest of the time, they could have another host.
A few likelier options from the current core group:
  • Alex Stein - He's the most obvious choice, but scheduling wouldn't work. Also, I think he's best in smaller doses, a few days at a time.
  • Ben - He could probably handle it, but he's just funnier as side character. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
  • Luke - Too sweet of a dude, imo. He's a bit too much in his own world too.
  • Max - Same as Luke, probably too nice, but who knows
  • Mints - I could see him doing a good job in another couple years, but he's too important as a side character right now
  • Charles - There'd be some crazy kino but not sure he's the showrunner/host type
Outside people (not my preferences, just people in the sphere):
  • Brandon Buckingham - He's also too nice, but he was funny in S1. Also he has a wife and kid now, not likely going to be up his alley
  • Turkey Tom - No. Maybe in 5 years if he stops worrying about pissing off trannies. Only mentioned because he showed up in S1
  • Internet Historian - I have no clue how it'd work considering his identity isn't known, but he'd be awesome. He's down with the humor.
    • if not a host, imagine him calling into the space tank as a rival ship captain or something, if space tank ever happens
  • Sseth Tzeentach - Could easily handle the humor but again, no known identity. Would be great in space tank as a guest as well.
  • EmpLemon - Nah, but he is down for the humor
  • Matan - Probably the most capable seeing as his show is very FT-like but he's still getting his feet wet. Maybe in another few years
  • Weckingball - Maybe? He was pretty funny in S4. I don't know much about him
There are others I'm sure but I am seriously struggling to think of anyone else who could handle the humor of the show.
To be clear, none of the suggestions are actual good ideas. Just me tossing some names around.

The only person in this list even remotely capable or worthy is Alex Stein.
Agreed, my point generally was to say that the show really is lightning in a bottle. There are no public figures that are actually capable of fully handling the whole thing. Stein is as good as it gets, outside of the current crew. Though I do think Internet Historian and Sseth would be good guests, even if virtually.

Alex Stein does have a certain knack for old media type showmanship, but he also gets really annoying and cringy. I'm sure someone's dad found his "wife's boyfriend" bit in Season 1 really funny.
And he doesn't have anything like Sam's larger-than-life presence, but I guess he could try to compensate for that with more screeching.

Sam is the face of Fishtank, I think losing him would be a huge blow for the show.

It's really not any worse than Sam repeating a joke a dozen times as if he's doing multiple takes while on a livestreamed show. Sam isn't that great and doesn't contribute much of anything at this point.

While Mizzy is probably funnier than Lexi, if you've seen her streams and attempts at comedy, you should know that she would be awful for the show's creative decisions. The only former fish to actually fill this role well would be Letty, who I think would be superb for production. She did a pretty good job on bitchtank as a producer. Bliccy is another funny woman who instantly filled a "mother" role for all the girls on bitchtank. They absolutely loved her.
Mizzy's attempts at comedy are abortive. She should stick to singing.

She really has that "awkward younger sister" thing going on. I think her attempts are great efforts and it's easy to like her as a person, but she's just not confident enough to pull it off.
That being said, very few women can do skits and have them actually be funny. It takes a VERY specific type of personality and sense of timing and bite.

The moment Sam Hyde leaves Fishtank is the moment Fishtank gets cancelled. There is no one else that can host the show because Sam Hyde is a massive part of what the show is, the show's vibe. You can't just flip that on it's head and expect the show to continue or for the fans who have been watching to be interested in the show anymore. I've made a post about this before but the threads here tend to loop back around to the same topics constantly so I guess I'll say it again, Every reality game show that switches it's host like that fails almost immediately, Fear Factor, The Apprentice, you name it. Replacing Sam Hyde in Fishtank is like replacing Gordon Ramsey in Hell's Kitchen with Guy Fieri or something, it would fundamentally change the whole show and lose all of what edge it had with Ramsey, which is the whole appeal of the show in the first place.

If you hate Sam Hyde so much to the point that you think he must be not be involved with Fishtank anymore, you will be better off forgetting Fishtank exists and move on with your life. If you're musing about the idea of Alex Stein, Emp Lemon, Turkey Tom, Greg, Alexis, or Mizzy replacing Sam as the host of the show then you're a brain dead faggot that doesn't even understand the show in the first place. The only person even remotely capable of replacing Sam Hyde as the host of Fishtank is Bam Margera and that will most likely never happen, it probably wouldn't make the show better either.

This is true but then...

Bro...

Sam clearly doesn't give a fuck, he spent more time on S4 sitting on his ass on his laptop than actually being the host.

Bro...
You're missing the point, Bam Margera is the only guy who would potentially be capable of hosting Fishtank because Fishtank is somewhat derivative of past works from Bam Margera, Bam Margera was one of the biggest influences on the show in the first place. Bam will never become the host of Fishtank for obvious reasons, people that follow him know why. Bam would not even make the show better by any means. The point is no one can host Fishtank other than Sam Hyde, it's his show. Bam Margera hosting the show is an impossibly that will never happen.

I've been a fan of Sam for a long time and found out about Fishtank through him, so I certainly don't hate him. But it really is undeniable that a huge amount of his screen time on Fishtank is completely phoned in, almost his entire time on S4 was spent sitting silently in a corner on his laptop farming TTS. I understand and agree with your point that replacing hosts on reality shows always fails - but Sam's relative screen time is nothing like those other shows. Showing up for a few hours every 3-4 days to sit in a corner is not the same as being the central character in every episode of every show.

That being said, if he was replaced at this point after all of the prior seasons then of course the show's vibe would definitely be different. But I just don't agree that Sam is some massive lynchpin responsible for everything that makes Fishtank good - I think the show is carried by the format/contestants and succeeds mostly despite the wiggers.

You're only mentioning s4 though, the latest season that couldn't even finish. Sam sitting on his laptop in that season sucked and definitely was part of why that season wasn't the best but let's be honest, s4 kinda sucked. I don't know how involved Sam is in planning out the season and creating challenges and themes for the season, but we all knew as soon as Jet pulled the glove off the camera that s4 was gonna suck balls and it did. It had some great moments of course, but the show ending early was a mercy killing because the whole season was just a fucking mess. Who here was excited to see Jimmy, Burt, and Fatty return in s4 AGAIN. No one except Redditors I guess. I wish Sam put some effort into making s4 better, but at the end of the day it was a lost cause and I think Sam knew that. Season 4 sucked balls, and it probably would have been even worse if they didn't shut it down early.

You never hear about Sam's performance on Bloodgames or s3 anymore, s3 is arguably Sam's best season. You're just dwelling on the negative because you're a fucker. Most Fishtank fans especially here on this site have this problem where they only like to remember the negatives of things, they never want to talk about the positives around the show. s2 sucked and mistakes were made but Sam's performance in that season was great too, Sam was literally the only saving grace of s2. Sam was mostly great in s1 as well until the filming for Extreme Peace got the better of him later on, but still he was great when he was there. All of this might as well have never happened because "muh s4 muh laptop". It's miserable. I guess make way for Emp lemon and Brandon Buckingham, surely they will fix the show!

Honestly at this point, Fishtank should just be Stream Stars all the time. A real season of Fishtank is a fuck ton of effort and no one cares about it. They just want to tear the show down and talk about the negatives of every situation as if the show is shit yet they waste their entire life watching the show they act like is garbage constantly. I'll say it again, if I was Jet I would have quit the show after season 1, the fanbase is deranged and it's not worth putting in the work to try to entertain these people.

Talk about the good stuff mid-season. Dwell on the bad stuff forever hoping they don't do it again but knowing they will. People like to complain, it's easier to talk about. That's with everything.
I'll say it again, if I was Jet I would have quit the show after season 1
You're not him. You have other things going on in life that can make you money, hopefully. Jet will likely never make Fishtank money again. It's his "baby" and he fosters the freaks of the community. He's personally responsible for how bad the S1 edits were at first and seems to have been delusional about how big Fishtank would be.
