Wrong, this is another thing people romanticize. Season 1 had...Letty and Jon that's about it, Vance on rare occasion when he wasn't trying to play master manipulator "yeah" man. Everyone else was either nontent or did stuff too rare
This is very true. It’s important to keep in mind that Fish who generate content in a vacuum without needing influence from others are rare. Just because a Fish lacks this innate content making ability doesn’t make them bad though. With the exception of content drivers, a Fish’s quality is largely dependent on the other Fish that surround them and how they are influenced by them.

Using Vance as an example, anytime he actually went out of his way to do something and therefore create content was due to his feelings towards Jon or Letty. Their actions spurred him to make content through scheming and manipulating. This made him a better Fish as a result. Remove either of them and Vance suddenly lacks purpose and becomes very boring.

This is the exact problem the final four had during season two. There wasn’t a single content driver to spur the Fish into action. It’s also why the earlier eliminations were so harmful. Fish like JC, Summer, Cole, and Jimmy, no matter your thoughts on them, gave the other Fish a reason to act out and do stuff. The moment they were removed all that momentum built up for days was lost and the Fish lacked purpose.

Production backed themselves into a corner during the final four and finale. They had no Fish who had a natural content making ability, and they subtly planted the idea into the Fish’s minds that doing things would result in their downfall. Fish like Tay, Trish, and TJ would be far more entertaining if they had another Fish to bounce off of. They didn’t have that.

This is reality TV and with reality TV you have to be able to empathize and root for the people on it. Everyone other than Mauro and Simmons had some level of audience that was rooting for them. Meanwhile if a meteor crashed into the season 2 house and killed everyone inside most people would not give a fuck.
This is exactly the type of shit i'm talking about. Did you even watch season 1 dude? Josie won through popularity, she was rarely fucked with or put through hard conflict. Letty endured for sure but she also put on a show while doing it. People have such a weird, warped view about season 2. You think TJ won because he was a content farm? Over Tay and even Shinji? What are you smoking
Josie being coddled doesn't change the fact that the dynamic shifted between seasons. Every one of them were shit for content because they were being pushed to be content farms. Having the confidence to let them exist in the house with constantly being poked was why Season 1 was objectively better. You seem convinced everyone's perception of the the show is warped, but it's more likely season 2 was just ass.

This is all subjective and your taste in fish will vary but ranking Damiel below Simmons and Megan is just not accurate. Also putting fucking Cole above Letty is criminal. He was on the show 10 days.
I cut out the show went Jon left, not cause I was upset he was gone, but cause I was bored of everyone left, she's on the high side of the dislikes cause of the impact I heard she had on the show. I watched the tank when Cole was entertaining.

Damiel is so low because I sniffed him out as having contacts with production, same as Trish, before the evidence was found. I'm not sure what's been sussed out, but it seems like Trish wasn't a Plant but was still treated like one enough that I entirely dismissed her as a contestant(being kept in the house after elimination and acting like Frank or Fatty). Plants go on the bottom. Mauro is only beneath him because he made such a little impact he's beneath even scorn. Not even a contestant is less than a fake one.

It doesn't help that production would stop the fish from doing stuff. Why tell them to make content instead of doing it yourself if you're not going to let them do it? It's also not the contestants responsibility to make the show interesting by making content themselves, it's productions job to give the fish challenges, start conflicts, etc. The fish are there to react to stuff from production and be interesting due to their resulting actions.

Some of the best examples of a contestant acting out in reaction to something/someone is Letty and the S2 fish (Led by Tay) fucking with Fatty. Letty learned from TTS about his plan to dump a cup full of random shit from the fridge on her, and proceeded to go in and do to him first, leading to him sperging out. This was after a lot of sexual harassment from him. It wouldn't have been the same if she randomly went out of her way to create the cup and dump it on him for no reason, her spoiling his plan and giving him some comeuppance was funnier and deserved.

Likewise, Fatty's action spurred Tay into Total Fatty Death, barricading him inside of the gooncave leading to him freaking the fuck out and having a panic attack (funniest moment of S2 imo), and then dumping shit on him multiple times until he called it quits and she was done (even though he didn't actually leave). While he was brought on the show to be a naked fat retard and a nuisance, it wouldn't have been the same if they were immediately instructed to fuck with him. Instead they were given time to be annoyed and harassed (included him trying to get the women to perform sexual acts on him in exchange for points, asked Trish for a lapdance and Tay to sit on his face) by Fatty having power over them with the Chris Points stuff until they were tired of his shit and Tay started fucking with him once production allowed it.

Don't blame the contestants for not being interesting and making content themselves if they have nothing to do, no reason to care about anything, and nothing to react to, that's productions job, not theirs.

I've already said this and very recently but how are you going to say season 2's cast was stronger when so many left so early on? JC gave up in like 5 days, Summer was too mentally ill for the show, Megan left to go play Roblox, Cole threw a tantrum so he could be kicked off how exactly is this a stronger cast? 4 of the 10 people on the show left in like the first 3 weeks how is that a stronger cast?
What blackstar said but I think it's undeniable that a lot was happening earlier on, compare that to season 1 where barely anything happened. A high concentration of shit happening in the first 2 weeks. More fish left sooner but again we can't forget freeloaders and pretend they don't play any part of the shows entertainment and are entirely necessary for this type of show to work. imo I liked the freeloaders more in S2, even nifty lead to a lot of funny shit happening with everyone fucking with her.

The issue I had with the freeloaders is Jet was desperately trying to stuff the hole that Summer, Meg, and JC left. Delaney was a cool person but she's barely worth mentioning, Taylor wasn't much more than her relationship with TJ, and even though Abi turned into a huge moment she wasn't dedicated enough to amount to anything more than a content assassin in the long term- as someone said, she skinned the sheep instead of shearing it.

One new freeloader every four days, at most. No freeloaders until there are 5 people left in the cast or else they're just overshadowing relevant, organic drama between actual players, or irrelevant and invisible themselves. Be much more open to pulling freeloaders down and ordering them around.

Also absolutely none of the shit they did with Taylor where they pretended she might be a contestant. It's practically illegal, and I imagine they dawdled actually making a ruling on that for a while because they hadn't thought through how gay it would have been if she actually won.

To quote my autistic Fishtank manifesto,

"There’s always the random aspect of Fishtank that makes it enjoyable. Seeing a freeloader turn out to be successful when that success was unexpected is absolutely enjoyable, but to rely on this random aspect entirely is not a good idea, nor does it have the highest likelihood of producing the best freeloaders. The freeloaders from season one never had this issue.

Unexpected content generated from them was a bonus to the baseline content they already produced. Fatty falling down the stairs was an unexpected moment, but it wasn’t the entire reason why he was viewed as a good freeloader. He had more to offer than that due to his ability to make the Fish constantly uncomfortable during downtime. Similarly, Lance’s craftiness was an unexpected add-on to his already funny and long-term bit of copying Vance’s actions.

Freeloaders unique season two never really had a core purpose to latch onto in addition to their randomly generated content that was few and far between. What was the point of adding somebody like Abi? What about Delaney? Octavious? None of these freeloaders seemed to have any extended purpose outside of the baseline of driving up engagement for a few hours or milking a couple extra dollars out of desperate paypigs. Even the freeloaders who turned out to be good did so completely unexpectedly."

They blew the "trust fund kiddy vs the world" angle too fast, to a point where he obviously wouldn't have been comfortable with everyone being against him. I still don't think he'd cross the finish line, and what little was seen of him post-Fishtank seems to confirm he's not exactly a pleasant person, but skillful treatment (in general, not the shit like pampering him with an Xbox) would've likely gotten more out of him.
He was never going to even make the halfway point. Trish has talked about about how like 7 days in he was already whining to her about wanting to leave. He was never going to win or go far in the game. The fake rich guy shtick was shit from the beginning. It was so inorganic and forced it wasn't going to go anywhere. Cole sucked and it wasn't just post show he started being a bitch.

Cole sucked and it wasn't just post show he started being a bitch.

The perfect outcome for someone who has been baiting quitting is that the wiggers get one to three days of themed challenges showing off how shit that guy is, and blowing all pending gags on that person, while still maintaining control of them long enough to send them off. Jon was a sort of good-bad attempt at this, he had been threatening to go for a while and fucked up the baby challenge , and had been getting some pampering to keep him on the hook, but it was clearly his turn. So they let him do a stupid debate with Letty, which was his personal Halo with Sam, and then whipped up a dumb finale for the challenge so that it looked good and felt tense still even though the results were set.

With Cole they refused to accept any signal less obvious than barricading a door and seemed in denial that he would leave. I don't think they could have kept him in but the issue was pacing, once again. They went from the mommy dom thing that determined Cole was on the chopping block straight into telling him, to his face, that he has no allies, and expected someone who was already toeing then line to wake up the next day fresh and ready to keep playing. This made his exit really abrupt and awkward and made it hard for his fans to understand and accept why it was his fault he had to go home.

Rewriting history the better move would have been to see him whining to Trish about quitting, and penning his departure date. Then leaving the fish to rest and practice something funny and easy while doing friendlycringe to Cole for some time, like making him teach Nifty what a kulak is, or having him run an acting class, or have him teach Jimmy social skills before deliberately bunting him on his departure date and admitting it was because he threw the elimination a few days prior.

"What did Jet mean by this?" vol.2. I think "It's not fliptank" is meant to rule out the idea that they're renovating the house using contestants or Greg or something like was floated in S2.
@feeshtank is really good about posting anything the wiggers drop in fishchat

No he’s actually saying there will be no Phillipinos in the tank this time, sorry for the confusion. Thankfully that’s one less Trish to bog down the show.

In Shinji's case though, it really sucks because he didn't really understand everything fully, and he probably deserved the win way more than TJ. There was really no benefit to having TJ win. Tay and Trish seem to have launched somewhat stable streaming hustles from it, but TJ has nothing going on at all.
Maybe it's because Josie became a successful streamer but I don't think people should view Fishtank as some sort of streamer bootcamp. If TJ doesn't care about streaming and wants to move on that isn't a bad thing.

Saw some of Trish's stream last night and she was talking about "going on vacation to LA for a few weeks soon" seems sort of weird since she just moved away from there hmmmmmm?

This didn't work in season 2 and would not work in season 3.

i think they should make a schedule, define meal times, define daily challenges and give small rewards for participating.
it would help us viewers know when to tune in and what to expect.

but they should not fuck with the food, they should be well fed regardless of there performance.
this sounds almost exactly like what they tried to do for s2. and we know how that turned out.

i liked on s1 how i could tune in around 5/6 eastern and there was a good chance sam would show up and do something crazy, i feel like alot of that was lost in s2.
